| Despite the age of this anime, this is one the better space science fiction alien animes I've ever seen. (I usually hate any sort of alien animes because they rely on the strength of the human characters and their interactions, but in this case the way they develop various unknown story line bit by bit made this quite interesting to watch as things unravel.)
However, like most other science fiction anime, Tekkaman Blade relies on many filler fighting scenes (which aren't that great due to this age, among other reasons) to take up time.
In the beginning, character-wise, very stereotypical after you've watched a lot of anime. Quiet, unknown, self-motivated guy who has the weight of the world on his shoulders. Woman to soften his heart, etc. What is interesting to watch in these episodes is how it happens. I believe that it is worth watching and if it wasn't for the age of this anime, this could have been great in todays standards with more interesting and up-to-date voice acting, music, and animation, I would love this one even more.
Although, in the end, its a mecha anime with lots of fighting, no matter the background, expect lots of fighting, especially in the end, with usual inclusion of more technological aspects.

| I first saw this Anime before I even knew what Anime was, so i suppose that this was my introduction. And what an introduction. The basic plot is simple, a race of aliens has invaded earth and huge pod-like plants have spung up all over the world. On a mission to find out what they are, Star & Ringo of a group known as the Space Knights find a young boy who has literally fallen to Earth. The young boy, known as Blade (or D-Boy if you watch the Jap dub) is mysterious, not answering many of the Space knights questions. However, he quickly proves to them that he is on their side, as he transforms into an armoured warrior known as Teknoman/Tekkaman and fights the Spider Crabs.
The basic plot is simple, but we find out that Blade isn’t able to fight in his Teknoman form for longer then 30minutes before the suit takes over him and forces him to be evil. As the series progresses baddies are introduced, who seem to have a connection to blade. And as the series goes on, we learn about his mysterious past, and the true point of the alien invasion was.
Given when this was made, the animation still holds up, although they do use a lot of reused scenes (such as the transformation sequence), but this doesn’t spoil things. The sound is OK, but sometimes the English dub seems a little rushed in the beginning of the series, but finds its feet shortly into it. The voices seem well cast, and the characters can hold your attention. I also love the whole design of the Teknoman, and his rival teknomen, each one is different, with his own looks and fighting style (not to mention link to Blade).
My only negative feelings include the music, which is great at first, but it seems there is only 1 piece of music, them main opening theme, which is reused more often then id have liked. Also the English dub (which is good compared to some others) is cut from the 49 Japanese episodes to 43, which is a large chunk. But then, we get to see the Ultimate fight quicker, so i guess its how you look at it.
That said, allowing the dates as a factor, there is little wrong with the series.
Pros:
* Nice, enjoyable Characters (including the odd Baddie)
* Gripping Story
* Plenty of Action
* English Dub shorter, leading to the bad-ass fight at the end.
Cons:
*Animation is dated, but still watchable
* Too few sounds, reused to much.
* English dubbed was cut to much, and possibly to Short.

| I hate mecha. Big robots and polysyllabic jargon never did appeal to me. It comes as no surprise, then, that by the third episode of Tekkaman Blade, I was cussing my brother for having the gall to choose a 49 episode mecha for me to watch. By the eighth, I was gleefully devising several means of torture for him: perform certain dental operations with a wrench, no anesthesia, of course. Hang him by his toenails. Force him to watch Fushigi Yuugi…dubbed. But by the twelfth episode, something (insert holy music here)…. miraculous happened. The anime took a whole new turn, and I stared to care. Tekkaman Blade is not a hashed-out mecha about some dude destroying aliens to save the world. Instead, it’s a story about a man struggling to keep his mind and body- which are sadly things he sometimes cannot control.
The series begins slowly. The first eight or ten episodes are boring and episodic, with the main character undergoing a transformation reminiscent of any magical girl title. By the twelfth, though, the series picks up steam and it becomes an engaging series with a healthy dose of drama and action. Tekkaman Blade is divided into two parts, with the first ending at episode twenty-six. The second part, beginning on episode twenty eight (twenty seven is a recap) takes place five months after the first. In this second half, there are a few fillers before the juicy stuff begins. Hang in there. It’ll get good.
D-boy, despite his fruity ass name, is an excellent character. (The “D” stands for “Dangerous” by the way. Get your head out of the goddamn gutter.) In the beginning, he’s your standard tough guy, driven by only one thing and ignoring those around him. It’s not long, however, that he changes. Very early on, he blames himself for the severe injury of another character. It’s not long before he thinks of the crew of the Blue Earth as family, perhaps the only family he has. Well, not really. Apparently, his blood family consists of a bunch of psychopaths, not including his very annoying younger sister. Miyuki got on my damn nerves. I hate characters with only one word in their vocabulary. But she did sort of redeem herself. Rebin provides weak comic relief, and Aki is just around to give D-boy moral support. And drool over him as a possible love interest. Ballsack has a bit of character development, so much so that I began to call him by his proper name: Balzac. Even some of the villains are somewhat understandable. But it’s D-boy that steals the show and he could very well carry the anime alone.
It’s hard to take an anime seriously if it has characters with names like Tekkaman Blade, Tekkaman Dagger, and Tekkaman Evil. It’s even harder when said characters shout things like, “Vol Tekka!” and “Tek Setter!” every episode. But amazingly enough, this anime could have had an unbelievably faithful fandom had it been a cookie-cutter mecha about destroying extraterrestrials. I’m glad to have found it was about so much more.

| I rate this anime very high, most of the people who saw it say it's only about fighting the aliens and dosn't really take interest in the story of love, honor and courage. Let's review every aspect:

| First off, for those of you who have read my review on Space Knight Tekkaman, ignore it: I mistook it for THIS one. This is also the one that I will put on DVD (after I get my hands on the entire series).
Now, on to the review:
This anime is fun.
I watched this when it aired in Greece (with the surpisingly good greek dub and different soundtrack) and it quickly became my favorite (for a short time at least). Unfortunately, it was canceled after 26 episodes or so, but still...
Now that I watch this again in the original, fansubbed version, I realise just how bad the animation is. I mean, ok it looks outdated NOW, but even for then, considering what art other animes of the same year featured, I would say that this is just above par.
And the music? Frankly, the greek version of the soundtrack (read "american", since I think we got the american version of the anime) was waayyyyyyyyy cooler. And I liked the fact that they changed his name to Blade, instead of D-Boy and Teknoman, instead of Tekkaman.
But, going through the anime again, I also realise that all this is of no importance. Well, it IS important, but the rest make up for it.
The story is great and animation seems to get a little better as the anime progresses.
btw, I've only watched 26 or so episodes so far so I may or may not come back to change this review.

| I love this series. Not only action, the series gets intense on drama on a regular basis, and a couple of them are major tearjerkers (kinda like fushigi yuugi ep 27/28). Awesome mecha, great characters (especially Tekkaman Evil), strong, complete story.
If you saw the Saban series, even if you thought it sucked in Saban form, you have to see this series! (Review is of entire Japanese series (unsubbed, but I know enough Japanese))

| Really well put together, its a series that everyone should see and its easy to understand. It doesn't over promote or prolong battles like DBZ and yet it doesn't try to get really technical on how Tekka technology works. They left the series open to new idea's and when they made the second series they still left it open for a third if need be. Its too bad that they only showed half of it in the USA but it will become a cult classic and last through out the ages like Macross/Robotech and the Dragon Ball series do.
