| Although this anime is seen to be good by other people, I found it rather dull. I prefer Hungry Heart because it was much more exciting.

| Overall, I enjoyed this series very much. Whistle! is not only about soccer but about determination, trust, and friendship. Despite the fact that Whistle! has the typical "underdog works hard to become the best" plot, it somehow works and draws you in.
What I found myself liking the most were the characters, each with their own distinct motives and personalities. Watch this anime and you will find yourself cheering for Sho, laughing with Shigeki, and feeling for Mizuno.
As for the animation, I found it rather shaky. Sometimes the characters looked a little weird and the CG work was too obvious and stuck out from the regular animation. The music, while sometimes repetitive and annoying, often worked well with certain scenes.
Animation and sound-wise, Whistle! has nothing special (hence the 7 rating), but watch this anime simply for the enjoyable plot and characters. I swear, it's not as bad as it first looks!

| If you don't cares about real ending or you already know the ending from manga or something you probably enjoy this to the fullest.
Like other sport series, start off when player young and unexperince. Build more skill and make more friend help Kazamatsuri keep getting stronger and stronger. Damn his name are sure too long to type in english... I didn't watch POT yet but I have watched H2 which pretty much have the same storyline but differnt pace and character flowing. Whistle not focus on the team or only one person, they spread out to the team, friend and how they help each other out. Kazamatsuri wasn't hog all the glory to himself or rather he make everyone enjoy soccer more than remind them why they play soccer in the first place. Eventhou we all know Kazamatsuri was a main character, he wasn't on regular in tyoko team. But in the end he was the one or one of the team that play their best at Korean friendly game. It was good but they have to end, I don't know the reason but I guess they pick the ending period pretty well.

| I loved this anime. The storyline is interesting, the characters are great. You really struggle with them. I like how the characters don't start out super talented but have to work hard to actually become good. So they are much more humble about it. Unlike the annoyingly cocky people in POT, I actually wanted them to win. The only thing that kept me from giving the character rating a 10 was in the last 8 or so episodes, all the side characters I love get tossed to the backburner and a whole slew of new characters are introduced. The two main characters remain, but I liked it more when it was about the underdogs trying to make it, and having to work hard against really talented people than when it just became about a bunch of really good soccer players playing a bunch of other really good soccer players. I didn't care about any of the new characters that were introduced at the end. Maybe they would have grown on me if the anime had been longer, but I was mad that the side characters I loved and watched for 30 episodes were put on the backburner for the new ones. I only cared about the scenes with the two main characters, I didn't care for any of the new side characters. Other than that, it was a great anime and I really recommend it.

| I was pleasantly surprised with this anime! especially since I don't even like soccer irl :P
its got some cool characters with a good mix of personalities, nice animation, good sound, and the story wasn't anything special but far from bad.
the development of the characters abilities moves at a nice/steady pace and the players moves are pretty cool too!
don't expect any special ability type moves like a super beam/lightning kick or some crap. the moves in Whistle! are down to earth and pretty realistic :)
Id recommend this to anyone even if your not a soccer fan ;)

| Overall the series was fun watching. I was never really a fan of soccer, but after watching this series, I thought maybe I should try it sometimes too and I'll probably like it. The series was quite funny too. Some of the times it was soft comedy but when it really wanted something funny, it was extremely funny. I remember one part in the series that I laughed until I could barely get enough air. I recommend this series. =)

| this is a really good anime. after i watched a couple episodes of it i called my friend up and asked him if he wanted to play some soccer lol. seriously this is a good one for the soccer fans. i thought there was going to be a romance aspect to it but then it turned out to pretty much not have any. like i said in my other reviews i reallie like the anime to follow the main character, this is a good anime but foreal they shined the spotlight on the other characters 1 too many times and it was pretty annoying and it felt like a bunch of filler crap. and the ending was rushed, i noticed how many episodes it took for the main character to aquire some skill in the beginning of the series, but in the end of the series it took like 5 episodes for him to become 100 times better, the soundtrack to this is ok, nothing special. but yea i think you guys should all check this one out, its one of thebetter animes out there

| The animation was bit bland and CG usage especially was out of place most of the time. On the sound department I don't have much to complain about, pretty much your average anime when it comes to sound.
The thing that cought me, though, are the story and characters. I know I have a soft spot for altruistic characters like the main character in this one, and when you add in some background, growth and fleshed out side characters, I'm all for it. I would've wanted this anime to concentrate a bit more on human relationships with all the potential it had on that area, but I guess that's not why you watch sports animes, so there's no point in taking points off of that. Overall, this anime left me with a good feeling.

| This anime was rather "ok". Its target audience seem to be early to mid teens and younger, so I can't really grade it that harsh.
Other than that, from what I have seen in the first 10 episodes it is a fairly strong series that focuses on teamwork and a love of soccer. Whistle also seemed to be fairly realistic when it came to soccer moves unlike the way most sports anime's tended to use a different, more off the wall, approach to telling their story.
Now as to the nitty gritty, the animation was alright, sometimes there was periods where the characters would be slightly deformed and the animators seemed to have a little problem giving depth to the scenes. The cg done was pretty good, and doesn't really detract from the anime at all. Other than that it was pretty good.
Sound was done fairly well, nothing that really made me take notice tho, and the story and characters were pretty typical of the genre. I had fun watching the series and I recomend it to any aspiring or even soccer-inclined individual :)

| The animation is an interesting blend of computor graphics and drawing, and it's rather nice. The background music should get a ten, but then there's the opening and ending, which arn't that good. The story is rather overused, but it still feels nice. The characters are interesting, even if they arn't that realistic. Worth rewatching is you like soccer or just like tha characters... I liked it! still do...

| Amazing anime that's not all about soccer. Even though I'm not too interested in sport but this anime is great. I can't wait to watch other sports anime if it's like this one. This anime is more about relationship and trust among the members of a soccer team and how important it is. It send out a message to viewers saying that they shouldn't give up no matter how difficult is it.

| This anime started off positive but went downhill with its boring and very cliche storyline. Characters aint special and are nothing like Hajime no Ippo or POT. The main character is gets so annoying, too much of a goody goody and pulls off too many bs shots.
I found this anime to be very kiddie, as it progessed and the lack of appeal wore off pretty quick that i struggled to watch any eps past 20.
The moves and general play aint anything special either. The terminology is bad too, you dont "punch a point", you "kick a goal". Not sure if its the translator's fault or the script.

| This anime started out pretty shaky in terms of art and animation, but it does get better. =) As someone who read the manga before the anime came out, I was a little disappointed that the anime wasn't as well done as the manga, for instance some of the seiyuu sound awkward and the art is inconsistent. However, it's still worth watching if you like anime with sports and friendship themes. (also, if you read manga, try the Whistle! manga for the original =))

| I dont know why people dislike this anime so much. It has good character designs, a lot of charismatic characters, and the animation is a lot better than other soccer animes. What I like about this show is that the main character has to work hard to become good and the mental aspect of soccer is focused on. I also like how they try to use real soccer strategies even though some of it isnt true to life. While this show may not be the best of the sports animes I still think its worth watching. It's better than Captain Tsubasa 2002.

| its fun if your a sports fan, and it does take a while to get into. but all in all it becomes a good anime that is based on the characters more than the sport, which is always neccessary for this type of thing.
Edit 1: The story has picked up quite well and is at the point of greatness. I never expected this much from whistle. They still use many moves tat defy physics but at least there are less. The characters are full fleshed out and even the "bad guys" have a history. Still though the animation lags in this title. Miyuki is the worst and most annoying character ever.

| The animation and designs are pretty standard and the characters are quite archetypal. So it is formulaic but that is not a hindrance because they are then immediatly recognisable and likeable.
This is a far more realistic soccer animation than Captain Tsubasa. It's not perfect but then when has soccer ever been portrayed realistically, unlike american football which can be choreographed quite easily. Unlike in Captain Tsubasa the characters have to work hard to get better and you see their progress. That is one of the main things about this series because their progress is dependant on their determination, motivation and heart. Hence my earlier mention of the formulaic nature of this anime. You root for the underdog characters as they strive to improve themselves, the prime example being the lead Kazamatsuri Shou.
Aside from all this hard graft and earnestness you also have lighter and comic moments. A fun anime to watch!

| Base on a great manga. This one came out right after the world cup. Koera kicked in! Don't know about the other ratings, but here's mine. It base on Overall, compare to other animes.
I understand that foward shouldn't be defending, but I don't think this would happen in the later episodes. After all they're just beginners. At this time. The main team has to score alittle somehow i guess.

| Here is a different point of vue : Regarding the difference of age with captain tsubasa, Whistle is even worse in animation. My god, the football (not soccer, i'm european) scenes are sooo crappy. I really believed they would be able to do so much better. At least in captain Tsubasa there was a part of derision. In whiistle it's just the same but serious. Tell me in which game did you see the forward defending and saving hid team on his goal line for an entire half-time. That's only one example. If they wanted to make a serious (for example they try to explain some very simple tactics, which are sometimes pure joke, but anyway), well at least try to stick a little bit to reality.
Conclusion is : if you don't know soccer, you may like it (as many people i see on the internet), but if you lreally like soccer, don't watch it. Go grab Shaolin Soccer, it's way better and funnier...
