| Tenshi na Konamaiki is the story of a "man of all men" turned into a "woman of all women." The main character is exquisitely cute and the drama quite entrancing but there are a few times when it seems like it is spinning its wheels.

| What happens when a young, strong-headed boy turns into the cutest girl anyone has ever seen?
Tenshi na Konomaiki is a fun adventure that plays with the idea of a "man inside a woman's body". It's a fusion of action and romantic comedy and definitely one of the better ones at it. Though the series is a bit on the long side, the many side adventures only adds to the comedic or dramatic aspect of the show.
Though the animation style is a bit old (and peculiar) the story and characters more than make up for it. Tenshi na Konomaiki is a fun-filled story with a good amount of depth. Definitely one of the better series that I've watched.

| Though this series doesn't really break any new ground and is really too long, it is still fun to watch.

| Tenshi na Konamaiki is an exhillerating ride of fist fights, wacky humour and the most beautiful female in anime ever (IMHO anyway!).
I loved everything about this very character driven anime, from the OTT fighting, to the amazing OP & ED songs and if it had been made in 1995-98 I would have rated the animation just a little higher.
The gender bender theme is not what it sounds, so don't let that put you off! If you like a good fight anime, mixed with charasmatic characters and a lot of wacky humour, this should appeal ^__^

| The first few episodes of this series were fantastic. Absolutely hilarious with fast-paced energy. I had high hopes for this anime but then after the first 10 episodes, the laughs came around fewer until in the 20's they became rather infrequent chuckles.
I don't have a problem w/ an anime moving into the direction of a more serious story-driven anime but one thing just really bugged me about this anime.
What I just couldn't get past was Genzo being the object of Megumi's potential love interest. Normally I don't root for the perfect calm and cool anime character (in this case it was Kobayashi), but in this case, I would've much rather have chosen this guy to be the object of her love interest than Genzo. I guess it's also a matter of perspective. Had Genzo been the main character then I might've had more sympathy and support for him, but instead he came across as the comedic relief. So him being the potential love interest didn't go hand in hand for me. I guess this is just what completely killed it for me. I stopped at episode 26 and decided to just find out the end to see if the consumuation I dreaded would come to pass. I ended up reading the spoiler (perhaps it was the manga spoiler), to find out if I should bother investing more time into this anime. I didn't like what I had to read and just skimmed the last episode. Wasn't in the same realm of what I read but the outcome still wasn't something I can imagine myself waiting 20+ episodes to have as the conclusion. It was because of this I was rooting for her to turn back into a guy so that they could end all this.
Maybe I'm not being fair but at this point I decided to stop watching the anime. If you don't have the same issue I have, then it may be an enjoyable anime for you to watch. I actually liked all the other characters in this anime and megumi was a good protaganist. Actually I think Genzo would be a good Sanosuke character in Rurouni Kenshin. Makes a big presence, adds some comedic relief, but doesn't steal the spotlight.

| A badly contrived and kind of disturbing sex changed anime that is extremely repetitive in the middle of the extremely long series. Well, it is good for laughs because the viewer knows that this tomboyish high school beauty queen is in reality a guy and it is kind of entertaining to watch how this guy is forced to deal with his situations where guy/girl romance relationships are taken seriously. It gets a bit awkward how Genzo and Megumi get so close, but by the end it feels kind of natural =p
Cheeky Angel is character driven anime. It relies on a bunch of characters getting together and interacting (in this case... working together to search for a way to turn back into a guy). The thing is, I couldn't really accept Genzo Soga as a good male main character - he's so idiotic, immature, rash, mindless, and the only redeeming quality of his is that he's good natured deep down.
If you learn anything from this anime, it's that 1) men are absolutely hopeless and weak in the face of a hot girl. 2) hot girls can do anything they want, they can fight, can be cruel, can be unrefined but they're forgiven because they're hot 3) Japanese high schools are full of delinquents and perverts. 4) persistence will get you anything you want 5) sex-change sorcerers are common and accepted, so if one appears in front of everyone it isn't too shocking.
Tenshi na Konamaiki is a weird anime that feels quite uncomfortable to watch at first. We all know that the girl all the guys are oogling and obsessing over or confessing to is a guy in actuality. There is always the possibility that this hot girl would turn back into his original form, and so it is really weird. But by the end, you do somehow manage to convince yourself that the main character is actually female. However, if this idea is totally unsettling for you (or you really like the idea of sex change), try checking out the relatively milder but more ecchi manga called Pretty Face.

| If there's one important lesson Tenshi na Konamaiki teaches us, it is this: "When walking in Tokyo, you will get attacked by juvenile delinquints every 10 minutes or so."
Speaking honestly the first thing that came to my mind when I saw TnK was: "These characters sorely need plastic surgery." Everyone just had this huge chin. Well, I don't know if the character design got any better or did I just get used to it, but for the last 30 episodes I didn't notice disfigured faces anymore. Otherwise the average animation uses a lot of SD effects to convey humor. It works nicely even if it feels a bit out of place on the more serious moments. Another plus is that despite the weird face Megumi appears as a beautiful girl.
Who's Megumi? She's the star of the show, a girl who used to be a boy. The series is about her getting to a new school with her friend Miki and meeting some weird people who adore her. Everything that happens in the series is pretty easy describe: Megumi does something ungirly, some trouble ensues, some of the guys says something about being a true man, trouble is resolved (usually with some fighting included), nothing changes. Simple as that. 50 episodes is a bit too much for that concept but it works surprisingly well considering I got bored with series like 2x2=Shinobuden in 12 episodes.
How can the series last for its 50 episode run then? First part is mentioned above: the animation. It's used with a very clever way to enhance the overflowing comedy. Second part comes from cross-gender stuff. Having this pretty, refined girl act and talk like a regular street ruffian is damn funny itself. Part three is Genzo. Having this high school nightmare jump between lovey-dovey feelings and I'm-going-to-gut-anyone-crossing-my-path attitude is pretty hilarious. With these three elements almost any situation turns into a laugh riot.
In addition to Megumi and Genzo also Miki is an interesting characters to follow. Especially when the series sheds some light of her mysterious life. Rest of the cast isn't nearly as interesting but hang around for jokes sake. As the story goes doesn't get anywhere, neither seem the characters develop. Only permanent change happens in Genzo and that happend during the first few episodes. Otherwise some brief glimpses of developement can be seen but they don't lead to anything important. As for the story, the themes vary from somewhat realistic to complete wackyness. It was actually pretty funny to watch when I didn't have an idea where the current theme was heading.
Perhaps it was to highlight Megumi's guy-like behaviour but her voice was making my stomach turn. Other characters had pretty annoying voices also but at least they knew how to act. Background music was pleasant if forgettable. The opening and ending songs were weird but catchy (heck, the opening features a mermaid angel... weird but catchy indeed).
Despite being overly long for its simple structure TnK manages to entertain. The biggest flaw is its insignificant story with a bad ending but the characters form a nice group that is fun to follow around.

| To be honest, after watching it, I was left with an enjoyable experience, although the ending wasn't to my personal liking.
I was a little worried about *liking* the main character since it's uncertain (a little homophobic I guess), but s/he's super-kawaii so I couldn't help but love.. "it"? Heh. I've never been against people choosing their own sexual preference (so long as I don't get involved), but this really put the nail in the coffin. Ultimately, love is love... I guess. Heh.
On another note, I actually LOVED the animation. It was so kawaii that I couldn't dislike it. Some moments were a bit too "rough" so I deducted some points for that, but overall, suki da. MEGU-MEGU :)
As for the theme songs... I liked the first ones. The others grew on me somewhat ("Sun Lise Tlain!", excuse my pronunciation).

| Megumi, who as a child asked to become a manly man has since became an angelic girl instead. Now in high school, chased by boys from the Megumi fan club and togther with childhood friend Miki, strives to become the manly man she so desires, and hilarity ensues.
Animation:
Many parts were taken straight out of the comic, not as polished as it should have been.
Sound:
The OP's were good and voice acting is well done especially considering the difficulty of megumi's role.
Story:
The strognest point here is the humor and the anime adaptaion added to the already comical manga. Each arc serves in developing the characters, reveal backstories, and still be funny.. until.. the last arc. This arc was 3/20 volumes in the manga, and 4/50 episodes in the anime, so it had to be shortened. But instead of shortening it, they went ahead and came up with their utterly unbearble story and ending..
Characters:
The characters are likeable in this series. This is especially true of Megumi who juggles her boy/girl personalities while beating up the bad guys. There are plenty of development that goes on while the character's pasts are revealed. Again, read the manga for the real ending.

| Not such a bad anime! Its funny and strange...but funny! (dull laugh) ok ok! I find this anime indeed funny BUT The animation was just plain rancid like year old plain yogurt found in the corner of the fridge...It was so awful! When I saw Megumi for the first time I was like " Ugh...Who in thier right mind will fall for a chick that seemed to have been beatin' with an ugly stick several times" Not only did I find Megumi ugly but I find her friend Miki as nasty as her...Seriously! they have some nasty faces that seemed like they were hit by a truck, then put back together with duct tape and elmer glue. But eventually after watching 10 episodes the animation will start growing on ya..like a thorny vine slowly stabbing your eyes with its uglyness. Also Ill like to note that Megumi is ugly outside but beautiful inside (didnt yer mama tell you this?) She has a kind personality... even though she's rich, she aint a snobby preppy girl that uses up guys like toilet paper (no offence)(REMEMBER! what makes this plot twisted is that megumi used to be a GUY and now he is a girl...)
The story for this is is really quite facinading and interesting but still weird. Too bad they story commits seppuku (ritualistic suicide)in the last few episodes...It was actually a funny anime untill all they put dull drama and pointless episodes at the end...really sad actually..1 more thing for those that watched this anime already...I dunno if Megumi is either forgetfull or a total idiot but.. I swear I heard the little devil guy tell megumi that the spell will only last 10 years then it will wear out...Did megumi notice this at all? did she know that at age 19 she will become a man again? either im hearing things or Megumi needs to clean her ears.
Now All I gots left to say is that who ever drew this, finally drew more uniquely different than any other anime and also he/she should be hit by little slugger off peranoia agent or go back to drawing school so he/she can some what find that ugly faces mess up this great anime. :D :D :D

| Like most people I my initial impression of this series was the animation was unappealing and I didn't want to give it a chance. But my brother made me watch it and now I'm glad because this is one of my favorites. You won't find anything as profound as Samurai X: Reminiscence, but this is good light hearted fun. I loved the characters' interaction and the whole girl powerness (not in an annoying way). As said earlier, the animation was initially unappealing, but it grew on me, and now I really appreciate it for being different. I also love their chibi moments. The voice actors are also awesome. This show made me laugh although the plot wasn't the greatest, but it wasn't boring either.

| Overall, this was a very good anime, the animation was good, but took some getting used to, mainly because it was different from anything that I was used to seeing. The sound was great, enjoyed it very much, and fits the show very well. Story is superb, its the strongest point of the series, develops very well thoughout all 50 episodes. Characters are very enjoyable and interact well with eachother and have good personalitys. Value, its great, definatly worth a re-watching. So overall, it was a very enjoyable anime.

| Little nine-year-old Megumi Amatsuka is a boy who wishes to be the manliest man in the world. Apparently, he saved some kind of "wizard" from a gang of boys and received a book with some sort of little magical creature inside it who will grant his wish. The creature, instead of granting his wish made him "a woman among women" instead. Now she is fifteen, and starting high school, getting all the guys in love with her.

| MEGUMI-CHAN (Hayashibara) as MEGUMI-CHAN has to be THE highlight of this anime... honestly, soooo refreshing to hear that voice after so long.
Anyway if your not a dedicated Hayashibara addict like me (WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU??) then you can only take from this anime that it's not much more then your typical fun fest. Done very well but MANY others do it AS well, some such as Tenchi, Love Hina, Slayers, Ranma do it a whole lot BETTER! But as a free fansub alternative it is more then adequite. A 9 for enjoyment says I HIGHLY recomend it.

| The last 11 episodes are bad, and the last 5 are just horrible. The anime changes from being an amusing, unique school life story into a "serious" survival story wherein someone is supposedly actually trying to kill megumi and her gang. It's so...unnecessary. I can't believe I'm saying this about an anime, I never thought I would, but they were fine with WHAT THEY HAD GOING. It was a COMEDY, and it was pretty good. Then for no good reason things change from everyone going around aggravating and amusing one another to this...this serious freaking survival anime. It has amlost completely ruined the series for me. I don't even feel like giving it the time of day for a decent review, I feel so...betrayed.
The beginning 10-20 episodes were good, the next 10-20 weren't as good, but had their moments. The last 10 were just HORRIBLE. As you can see, it's an anime that starts out strong and ends up leaving a bad taste in your mouth as an anime that, looking back, is just one long downhill ride towards unhappiness.
The animation is unsightly, and though you do get used to it, you only do so because you have no choice; it doesn't grow on you, it's simply there and you (obviously) can't ignore it. The music is irrelevant, the openings and endings are never good, and sometimes downright poor; the little jingle between commercial breaks for the last half or so of the series was positively nerve-wracking, I hated it so much.
Characters are obviously the best part, though that's not saying much I guess.
Value was never high, enjoyment was crushed by the end.
It wasn't supposed to turn out this way... Go watch "GTO" instead.

| Overall, I really liked this anime. Since others have reviewed it better than I can, I will just comment on the one thing that almost killed it for me.
When I watch bad animes, I tend so skip through entire episodes because they're so bad/stupid hoping that something good eventually develops. I loved the first 46 episodes and didn't do any skipping. The last 4, well, do yourself a favor and skip them if you can. I'm kind of sad for the show after watching that crap. You expect something at least half serious, but instead you get over an hour of fluff.

| I definitely didn't like the opening or the ending themes, and the soundtrack is really nothing to be excited about. Animation is lacking and the storyline is not that great, with the last few episodes being quite illogical, but animes are not logic anyway. I picked up this anime because it was so funny, and I still think that it is funny until the last few eps. But I would recommend you to watch this only when you have nothing to do and need a laugh.

| Definitely underrated. It's well paced, and most of the characters undergo a decent development as the series goes on. It *is* subpar animation for 2002, but the excellence in the rest of this anime's categories more than makes up for it. You'll get used to it as time goes on, and will probably become a secondary issue for you.
High grade seiyuu, excellent sound, a unique twist on the "high-school romance" genre, and just enough of everything while not going over the top with everything definitely makes this a "you should see it" on everyone's to wadch list.

| After finishing the 50th TV episode, I am left with a rather good impression of this comedic romance, action-packed series, notwithstanding the voice talent of Megumi Hayashibara (plays Megumi-chan here, but well known for playing Lina Inverse in Slayers). Though a strong series, it still lacks that extra punch to put it in the stratosphere with the real classics.
