| Based on a much better manga. The monster and all fantasy material was not in the manga and really feels out of place. This is probalby one of the 3 shittiest series I have ever seen and this isnt even harem serie!

| The opening scenes involved this guy who looked a bit like Wolfgang Krauser from the Real Bout Fatal Fury video games, which lead me to wonder whether this "Samurai Girl Real Bout High School" is actually a spin off of the "Real Bout Fatal Fury" games. I was slightly disappointed to find that it wasn't. But if truth be told, having finished it now, I didn't expect to like it as much as I did.
This is a strange anime, a mixture of action, comedy, school drama, with an intruding touch of fantasy. It's this ingredient of fantasy that makes this anime strange. Without it, I think I would have liked this quite a bit more.
The initial impressions was what I expected. It screamed mediocrecy from all directions. The idea of K-Fights in a school to settle disputes is a poor excuse for fighting that almost matches the absurdity of the "Variable Geo", scenario with the tournament to determine "who is the toughest waitress in the world". Other elements that I dislike in anime were also omnipresent, such as the extreme comedy and panty-shot style fanservice. But there was one bright spark that promised to redeem the anime, and that's the breathtaking action sequences that was revealed in the latter half of the episode in a K-Fight duel.
Alas, later battles never lived up to the expectation set by that first "proper" K-Fight (proper as in, not counting the K-Fights before where some losers just get annhilated) that turned out to be best action sequence of the whole series. Most of the later ones were just battling monsters, and, to be brutally honest, they simply bored me. I was more interested in the side of the comedy school drama that was being unfolded. I'm beginning to strong suspect that after watching 100+ anime titles, my brain is beginning to succumb to this typical japanese humour. As the action got less and less entertaining, I found the comedy of the show is beginning to entertain, and the development of the non-supernatural part of the story (or perhaps it was the likeable characters playing out the story) was beginning to rouse a casual interest in me (shallow though they may be).
Then came an astonishing change of mood. Episode 10, in one episode, manages to introduce a completely new dimension of romantic drama into the series. Before episode 10, the "romance" was almost only there as a further source of comedy (like the K-Fight over lunch). After episode 10, it became a much more serious, substansial issue. For me, episode 10 was the second highlight of the series, the first being the exciting K-Fight in episode 1. It's also the last highlight highlight of the series.
After episode 10 brought the anime up to an all series high, episode 11 then promptly dragged it down to an all series low. What a waste of time that was! A 20 minute episode comprising 15 minutes of pointless flashbacks and a measely 5 minutes of new footage. After that, thing didn't improve much. The series simply went on to finish the demon story (badly) and that was that.
So, expect comedy, expect fanservice, expect action ranging from stunning to boring, expect a half arsed, incomplete fantasy storyline and, even though, overall, this doesn't even make it as high as a 7 overall, it might still spring a couple of pleasant surprises on you.

| I had gone to Wal-Mart one day and found Samurai Girl for about 9 CDN dollars each. I figured that it would be worth a try, especially since the covers were bright and vivid, and the character designs were better than certain others.
I was in for a real disappointment.
I'll note the sole positive before ranting on what makes this title flop for me: the animation. Like I said, it's bright and clear. The males are portrayed wonderfully, while the women have some slight anatomy issues, but nothing I can't deal with. I haven't seen episodes 1-4, but I'm pretty sure the same opinion applies here. The sound is so-so and tolerable, at best.
Now for everything else. The first time I pop in Samurai Girl, I watched and waited for some grand finale exposition that knits everything together spectacuarly... and I waited... and waited... and it never happened. Characters kept popping up from everywhere without any explanation, things happened without any real meaning, and by the show's end you're just as confused as the characters. I don't know if this was the director's intention, but it wasn't a good impression. Heck, I was too busy laughing during the final boss fight to enjoy it.
What little the show does manage to focus on properly didn't impress me either. You've got burning rivalry battles that would make Lina and Naga laugh, plenty of guys roaring at each other while throwing attacks at each other a la Dragon Ball, and needless upskirt shots that are almost in league with Agent Aika. Of the characters involved, you've got a red-haired Tsukino Usagi named Ryoko, a brown-haired Ayanami Rei named Miyuki, the New York mafia, some guys in robes, a boy who does nothing but photograph Ryoko's life, a girl who does nothing but scream, a trio of badly-designed fighters, a guy named Ryu- erm, Nagumo... and that's just the beginning of how cookie cutter and confusing this cast and story is.
So save your wallet and don't buy this anime, even if someone is desperately giving it away for free. And even if you did get it, throw it away. You'll actually do yourself some justice.

| Short series from GONZODIGIMATION, with all the usual in it. That means we have gratuitous pants-flashes, fan-service in every episode (even final conclusion is not free from it) sexy girls in sexy costumes for any kind of cosplay fan, story that won't astonish You and target audience should be around early teen... or not so objective as I am. With almost standard GONZO animation and OK soundtrack we surely have anime that would be very good... had it been more fixed on story, instead of anything else that it could.
I could watch women battles with almost pleasure, and mostly it was battles that kept me throughout the series. Nicely animated, with some choreography (usually, at least) they are coming near FMA level. Unfortunately, when superpowers are into it, they soon become just a blast of color and slash of light - like in SDK. Nothing really more. So... only interesting battles are those that are between humans, without superpowers.
Don't expect great laughs, don't expect nudity (lots of skirt 'up-flipping' and large breasts and skimpy outfits but that's it), don't expect story (and I mean at all), don't expect characters (to be interesting or to be developed)... well... in fact don't expect anything but mindless anime. I sincerely do not recommend this.
Read more if You want to know exactly why.
PS. They make fun from themselves, with some parodic tone, that's good. Unfortunately half-way the series they decided to made it half comedy, half drama. Since it's GONZO it couldn't be done right, now could it?
PPS. Ryoko's name is MITSURUGI. She learns a kenjutsu's style named HITEN. :-) HITEN MITSURUGI ryu (style of Hiten Mitsurugi) is the style that Kenshin mastered. :-) Just a side note. ;-) For this and few laughs I got out of myself and some nice girls in this one Enjoyment jumped to 4.

| I'll start off by saying that this is one of the most illogical anime out there with some of the...stupidest character motivations that ever were created. Such a brute attack against an anime is not my style but this actually worked well until the last episodes where it breaks down like a castle made out of playing cards and that upset me...
But last thing's first: animation.
Surprisingly good one might say. The important battles are fluid, complex and very enjoyable. The K-Fights were some of the most delicisious clashes of warriors I have seen in anime. The drawing style also helped a lot to this impression, with a very nice level of detail behind it. It may not be to everyone's liking but it is to my liking nonetheless. There is a fair share of CGI used but it's mostly concentrated in attacks and it doesn't bother the viewer.
The music and voices were also good. The music resembles that of a classic Nes game and some orchestral scores which really stand out. Technicly this anime is very well made but that's about everything that works in this series.
The story excells through inexistence. The first episodes bring about a nice feel that there is a story, although it is stupid. The idea of a dispute to clear up disputes was quite a inovative one. But the fact that the characters wins and wins and wins some more without any kind of logic behind her fighting is weird. Speaking of attacks, there is absolutely NO explanation for any of the powers and the bit with "I was thaught by an old man" is old and really cliche and convenient for a explanation. There are elemens brought into the story without warning, without previous facts or any kind of explanation. The story flopps bad in this anime. It ain't totally murdered but it is painfull to watch at some point.
First character that comes on screen looks painfully alot like Ryu from Street Fighter Alpha. After a couple of moves and a atack you can be certain he is Ryu from Street Fighter Alpha...later his name is revealed to be Nagumo...no problems there. The problem is not the characters in the way they are built(yeah, they're cliche, annyingly so but that's not it)...the problem comes in mind with the motivation...there are some weird sets of motives, some IDIOTIC dialogs, some IDIOTIC courses of action...the characters went down bad for me. I won't rant on this any further because it's not worth it...these chars were some of the most unimpressive ones I've ever seen. The only character that somewhat seems more fun than the rest is the comentator girl for the fights...she was funny.
The value? It's low. There is a slim chance I'll be viewing this again because of the story or lack of it to be more precisse.
But there is enjoyment in some episodes which are exclusevely funny. There are some jokes which really make the episode worth watching and, as usual in 13 ep series, there is one episode which stand over all the others. In this case that is the episode with the cullinary K-Fight.
You decide if the anime si worth it or not....

| The anime title is very catchy, thats probably the only reason i got a chance to watch it, but i was in for a big suprise. After the 1st 5 eps, i wondered "why am i still continuing to watch this anime again?" The main character is annoying and so are the supporting characters, worst of all the announcer who suddenly appears from nowhere and announces a K-Fight. The story is all mixed up and makes no sense, its uninteresting, and found myself yawning throughout the show. I must have been high on something while i was watching this show....lol

| another GONZO Disappointment, but a bit different. This show wasn’t a complete bore fest, but a semi bore fest ^^.Like all gonzo stuff I’ve seen, this too had great unfulfilled potential, and the plot seemed rushed (still, they did a recap episode ><).Overall, you can skip this one, you wouldn’t lose anything.

| The problem with this anime is story. The writer and directer didn't know what they are doing or even know what they going to do next. The whole point of "other world" or "fighing world" didn't blend either. And as you watch it turn out to be like an arcade game which you just getting new power and more unknow character come out of no where and fight you, if you win they become friend and help ya. Then finally go finght the boss and TADA game over. Maybe if they made another ova that setting before the story happend, it will be more clear abou the fighting thing.
They try too hard to please audien but it work. What's up with the romance ep.???? We didn't even seen that "girl" in other ep. at all.. and somehow they already childhood friend? What a joke. Anyway, if you want to enjoy this series; you should try to forget about the plot/BGstory and just watch our pretty heroine and some pantsu ^_^
"Don't think too much" is the key to enjoy pointless anime :-)

| The problem with Samurai Girl: Real Bout High School is not what it is - a fairly shallow series created by Gonzo with all the pretty, colourful animation and fanservice you expect - but what it isn't.
This show often seems to have about as much to do with the manga of RBHS as the Samurai Deeper Kyo anime has to do with its own.... And that certainly isn't a good thing. The manga of RBHS, whilst not exactly being the most cerebral of efforts, makes the anime look positively brain dead. And, unfotunately, the manga is where I came in with this title. Thus it is impossible for me to be lenient to this show.
Gonzo is a studio that has all the right elements to make good shows. Their animation is always crisp and vibrant, and their cg work often the best (for the medium they work with). Unfortunately, they never seem to come through with the substance side of the bargain.
However, it could be said, by way of a back-handed compliment, that they know their audience all too well.

| Real Bout High School is a lot better than I was expecting it to be. While it certainly isn't a great anime by any means, it is quite fun and entertaining. It's got a lot of exciting action scenes, a handful of emotional moments and of course, plenty of innocent ecchiness. Where it falls short is in the main storyline which starts out interesting, but then quickly progresses into melodrama. The early episodes in the series were by far the best and it's too bad that the story didn't really go anywhere. The characters constantly say things like, "I don't understand," and "I have no idea what's going on," even as far as the last episode, which is pretty much exactly what I was thinking. Also, the music while appropriately used, wasn't very good. Nevertheless, Real Bout High School is a lot of fun and worth watching on a lazy afternoon.

| I was so overwhelmed with how much this series surprised me, in a good way. I thought it would suck, but when a customer sold me the series for 10 bucks, Im like, "how could it hurt?" So I bought it thinking it would suck. Wow! I love this series very much. Characters were great, and funny. The story was awesome, and I wish it was 13 more episodes. The ending wasnt terrible, but it makes you think. So Im thinking those who didnt like it are impatient. Im defintely keeping this series and recommending it to others! ^_^

| The animation is good.
The sound, especially the op and ed songs are enjoyable.. Too much blue, i agree with that, where there is only one episode that shows the 'blueness' of the main character.
The story has no plot at all, why are they wasting time doing this anime, and everything are pretty much hasty. If they developed it in like another 5-10 episodes, prolly they will have chance to develop the story. One more potentially good anime gone wasted.
Enjoyment, only in the 1st, 12th, and last episode worth the watch.

| the fight scenes for this anime is good.
the sound is ok... just that why does the op and ed song must be "blue blue" ? part of the lyrics in the op is like "blue blue weekend" and the ed is "blue blue my love"... what the heck is it with "blue" when it doensn't even look or feel blue.
the story lacks a good plot... for me it's more like plotless. there's only a few episodes which focuses on the main issue of this anime. the rest is just...just... - i dunno how to say it
the characters are ok... it's just that ryoko is kinda loud and her friend (i can't remember her name) is just plain annoying.

| A very enjoyable show, this school girl action comedy was meant to be a fun show and it sure delivers. It may dissapoint some fans of the manga as it is a very different storyline but it doesn't keep it from being the fun ride it is meant to be.

| not the best animeseries..
didn't like the fact they used loads of stills just sliding over each other to get an animation effect. i feel this is a cheap way to get things done.
i hate it when series do clip shows. can't really remember an anime doing this but this one does. why not just make a 12 episode series instead?
music was okay.. nothing special. didn't care for the seiyuu.
loads of fan service but it nowhere does it get ecchi.
i liked the colors.
non of the characters got to me and the story is just a joke. i just have to say i was glad this series didn't turn out to be just another tournament series.

| This series had great potential, good characters and animation, but blew it with a terrible ending that answered nothing. I was VERY disappointed in the ending. It just let me down. Other than that, good series. Just don't expect ANY answers. The characters were pretty stereotypical, but the story is the big downfall here. You can have fun with this show, since the fight sequences are fun and look very good. Just don't come here looking for anything deep. Or good, for that matter.

| Not a bad anime, it excels in the action department but is lacking in the story. The action scenes are nice to work, i have to admit there way better than the crap in Samurai Deeper Kyo.
There also lots of homour in the episodes especially the k-fights.
The animation and soundtrack is top notch but if your after something more serious then look elsewhere. This for a good laugh after watching something depressing like Saikano or Now and Then Here and There.

| I'd only need one word to review this anime: boring!
The story is boring, the characters are nothing out of ordinary and uninteresting, the action parts (quite many of them) were boring and it wasn't funny.
Episodes 10 and 11 are the only ones that I can say I enjoyed even a little, which was because of the small drama elements in them. They felt a little pasted over, though. I guess every anime has to have a little love interest in it.
I wouldn't recommend this anime, because I didn't really enjoy it myself. If you want a wacky action series that is actually funny, try Slayers.

| a realy amusing, yet light anime.
i started watching this based on friends recomendations and i had some high hopes going into it. while i was sort of let down by the light storyline it was very entertaining.
Nice mix of characters with comedy, action, and no 'dull' episodes that i noticed.
Real Bout is a well-paced, light, comendy\action anime that most people would ejoy.
