| How can you go wrong with buxom babes in very little clothing kicking butt?
As it turns out, you really can't. The original _Dirty Pair_ TV series is good old-fashioned light entertainment. Because of its episodic nature, it's easy to just put it on, sit back, and simply be entertained as the Dirty Pair ("Ahem... Lovely Angels!") solves the crime of the day (One arc does cover 2 episodes). And the best part of this is to watch the duo bicker and cooperate to bring down bad guys, often leaving a wake of destruction behind them... Though this is not *always* their fault...
If you can stand animation from 1985, stand the low quality video files that is all that's possible to find of this series, and want to watch how a couple of 20-year-old female trouble consultants can cause so much mayhem while trying to score dates with cute guys and inspire a nearly cult-like following, give _The Dirty Pair_ a gander. If you require something a bit deeper and more fulfilling, well, skip this one. Also, though there's plenty of cleavage shown, it's not the gravity-defying type often seen in modern animes, and this series is not very ecchi; I only remember one possible panty shot in the 24 TV and the 2 OAV episodes that I had watched.

| I didn’t like Dirty Pair, I know this was probably really great back in 1985, in fact I can bet on that. But now, no matter how much I sympathize with the age of this, it’s boring and crap and clichéd no matter how I look at this.
This probably gave birth to shows like Cowboy Bebop, which coincidently I also hate. Let me tell you now, if you like Bebop, and you can tolerate the what now seems like crappy animation, then you’d probably love this.
The characters were absolutely the strongest aspect of this, the 2 girls were great, they had so much good stuff about them from their looks down to their competitiveness. I also loved the what looks like a big bear kind animal, who no doubt has a very high IQ.
The story reminded me throughout of James Bond and also Star Wars, but needless to say, probably not as good. There weren’t much to praise about when it comes to music, but then again, the quality of the avi I saw this on were very very poor indeed.
Classic? No doubt. Good? Not by my standards. I nearly gave up after eps. 5, but managed to sit through all 26 episodes. Not a pleasant trip I have to say, there wasn’t much to keep the audience focused and excited. But if you are a hardcore anime sci-fi/girls fan, this is so for you. But for me, this is below average any day.

| It is really quite difficult to rate the Dirty Pair tv series, having seen it all. It varies quite dramatically from episode to episode, and what we are given rarely matches up to the expectations.
DP built up a fanbase _after_ the series struggled on tv, and it is easy to see why this is so: the idea is better than the reality. As I said in my review of the Project Eden movie, what is there NOT to like about a pair of young ladies with very little clothing doing nasty things to villainous reprobates? However, this idea never really seems to go far beyond the basic episodic format (for the most part) thus giving the show a fairly drab feel.
The animation is about what we would expect from an 80's tv series, but it is also relatively cheap, even for that time, so the _look_ of the show is not great.
It is such a pity.... I would have liked this show to be done, well, better.... They even failed when it was reborn as DP Flash.... Maybe a rebirth again, today, with more thought put into plots and characterisation, might work.
But then, would it be Dirty Pair...?

| Classic, Classic Classic! This offering from 1985 holds up to the test of time and is still great. Kei and Yuri are some of the best female characters out there, and the collateral damage from their Trouble Consulting (emphasis on trouble) activities has yet to be equaled.
I don't think there are any DVDs in distribution, which is a pity. Dirty Pair TV can be hard to find but is available on the net. Unfortunately the files I have found are lower quality than what is typically being offered these days. I wish there were more HQ copies available, but if you can look past the LQ files, its a well done series from the past that still deserves a viewing.
