| I come from a perspective where I haven't seen a single episode from the main series. So, I was not familiar with any of the characters in this series. One thing I noticed was that there was a clear bias for focus on certain characters and a lot of the other students got pushed into the background. But who cares!? This 3 episode OVA is a very fun, entertaining and wacky anime that deserves a look at.
First off, Akazukin Chacha is nothing like what any of the pictures on NFO portray it as. I thought it would be some sort of sweet drama with some little red riding hood girl doing all these good deeds. Nope. Instead, it this bunch of crazy wacky magician kids who are totally naive and fun-loving that basically get in a bunch of 'dire situations' and manage to 'wacky' themselves out of it. Ignorance is bliss eh? None of the students at this main school have any sense that things are not normal. Everyone has their own weird obsession or goal (static and unchanging as it may be) and it is this joint contribution from each character that creates this tremendous insane and energetic anime piece.
The setting is very similar to an anime that I watched in the past - Jungle wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu. A bunch of kids are together at this school, there really isn't much learning going on as the principal and the teachers are just as wacky as the students. There is a rival school which is full of elite students and magicians, yet they don't nearly get the attention and fame as this wacky school does and hence their principal gets all heated up. In each episode, there is a decent storyline where the principal sends different plans in attempt to figure out the 'secret' behind this school. Of course, there isn't... and a bunch of wackiness ensues.
Based on this OVA alone, I definitely am curious about the main series. Although, the 3rd episode did get a little boring and slow because I didn't find it nearly as hilarious as the first two, the order of magnitude the wackiness in Akazukin Chacha OVA is tremendous. It may be a little off-putting to those who want at least a little sanity, but sometimes things like this are good for a laugh. I don't know how similar this is to the TV series, but a few more episode like this would be definitely fun to watch.

| This is 3 more eps of laughs and adventure that happens after the series BUT there isn't any kind of transformations sequences :)
Also we meet a new character who was in the manga but not in the series.

| In this OVA, you will not get the usual Cha cha morph or does it have anything to do with super hero situations. Instead 3 esps of intense slapstic comedy that will surely make you laugh. Its pure simple comedy, something like galaxy angels and Azumanga Daio for recent anime's. Its a must watch for Cha Cha fans, and those who want pure simple comedy. This is suitable for kids.
