| I'm a huge fan of Formula 1 auto-racing and was happy to have stumbled upon this gem. Animation is solid; they recycle a few too many of the racing scenes for my tastes, but they are well drawn and detailed.
The sound of the cars is fantastic and this is one of the few Anime I have seen where there is not a single character whose voice is like nails on chalkboard.
The story is a familiar narrative in Anime; a wunderkind must work past obstacles in order to reach the full potential that everyone sees in them. There are a few subplots here and there and everything is tied together and developed decently well. Personally, I think this OVA needed to be about 1-2 episodes longer to fully develop everything, but for 6 episodes, it comes together well.
The characters are what truly drew me in. In most sports, the action on the field, track, etc. is only half of the draw. The internal conflicts and inter-driver conflicts they show in Double One were well developed and added a nice touch of realism and intrigue for me; just as if I was following a real grand prix season. Excellent job here.
This OVA is a good approximation of what happens to drivers after they win a championship, and I would definitely recommend it to any who loves racing Anime. One word of caution though: if you are familiar with auto-racing, you will DEFINITELY need to take the final episode with a grain of salt, possibly a whole carton :-).

| This ova is happen after the tv series. Hayato become 15 years old boy and he still paticipate in racing cyber formular. Althou he ages older, grow maybe like 3 cm taller but he still got a weakness within him and other people around him trying to support him to the end.
Since this is being release on dvd, they add a little fanservices like the crown shot and you might see some nudity here and there. Like bathtub scenes or girls show in the racing ring. Boob is showed so beware if you underages. Animation is greatly improve compare to the original TV series. You can see the hair lines finally showed and everything have more detail.
Everyone hasn't change at all. Hayato still him being frustrate over little thing and always run off dodging other people advice. When he clam down he become the best racer ever. There're a lot more comedy(goofy) and romance scenes than the tv. You can say romance go faster than 37 eps tv series. They seem to be more emotion and their facial expression are really showed. This giving us a touching scene and push a little bit more drama to the story.
If watch the tv series and like this one is a must sequal for you. If you like to see more Hayato development more(which I do) watch this also, while at first ep. he might look the same(they try to make us remember the tv series) he greatly become a better man at later end. Greatly improve from tv series and show everbody prob at the same time instead of just focus on and left other behind like in the tv series.

| The season after Kazami Hayato won his first world championship, he found himself being out-paced by other drivers. Knight Shoemach came in driving for Aoi ZIP in the middle of the season and start to dominate the field. Can Hayato become a double champion?
CF Double One is a wonderful OVA over the TV series. The animation is upgraded significantly and all the cars are much more race car like and sharp. You will notice that all the characters grew up a bit and they look more mature.
The story revolves around Kazami on how he is coping with pressure and keep on developing his drving skills to become a better driver. Again the villian here is himself and once Kazami recognize his mistake, there is no way but up for him.
Characters here shine once again, each with its own delightful characteristic, they all make mistake on the circuit, but off the race, they care about each other (very much like real life).
This short little gem continues the wonder magic of Cyber Formula and another nice continuation of the franchise.
Trivia: 1992 in real life F1 saw the emergence of the Williams/Renault, we also get to see flashes of brilliance of Michael Schumacher in his under-powered Benetton/Ford. Also, the start of the "raised-nose" era, as mirrored in this series where most top teams are using the raised nose cars.

| Following directly on the heels of the amazing ending to Cyber Formula TV, Double-one gets us back into the drivers seat with Hayato and the rest of Team Sugo as the youngest champion in history aims to be the double-one champion with the upgraded Asurada. You'll begin to notice that many, if not all of the characters start to change during double-one, as through the course of the 5 ova series and 6-7 years that they are released over, the characters grow with you. Double-one doesnt advance the story a whole lot, but it will whet your appatite, and set into motion the rest of the OVA series. Very important to watch these in order of their release. Skipping ahead in any way will prove to be huge spoilers.
