| This is easily one of the best anime movies of all time. I have bought this movie and have watched it at least 20 times. This movie literally scores a 10 in every category; I'm not joking.
I was a fan of the original series, but I was not a die-hard fan. I enjoyed the adventures they had, but overall I would rank the series as "Very Good" (8ish), but it is not on my top 10 list. This movie, however, really is a masterpiece. Just read the other reviews, even viewers who never cared for the series enjoyed this movie.
The basic premis is that our Bounty Hunters on the Bepop are low on cash as usual, when a huge bounty is listed on the 'bounty hunter broadcast network'. The crew has been getting antsy, and are eager to pursue the case. What they thought to be a relatively easy 300m turns into a crazy scheme that pushes Spike to the brink of death.
The animation is superb; it is actually better than the series.
The sound and music is just magical; easily one of the best soundtracks in anime history.
The story, as I described, is gripping; it almost feels real, as if it is something that could actually happen in the future.
All of the characters are simply amazing. The normal cast of course fits into their usual shoes perfectly. The villian is just absolute perfection; he is easily one of the best villians of all time.
As mentioned, I've seen this at least 20 times. The value of this movie goes beyond most series!
And obviously the movie is highly enjoyable. Loads of drama, action, tension, mystery, and a little comedy thrown in. It is truely a masterpiece.

| Cowboy Bebop: Knocking' on Heaven's Door is a highly entertaining movie that's basically any of the 21 non-plot episodes from the original series stretched into 2 hours. Of course, if you enjoyed the TV series, this surely won't disappoint. This movie features some of the best visualized Martian landscapes, the most laid-back characters, and one of the best and most detailed fight scenes I've ever seen. Recommended viewing this before you hit episode 24.

| Cowboy Bebop, as it always have been, a well made product that attracts you in its good animations and interesting settings of how in the far future people are living in other planets and all these stuff, yet the world hasn't changed much, all the good looking hotty women on the show, good action scenes, and great jazzy moods. Yet after all you are not going to say (this is something i'll never forget). the story line is average, some moron whom has lost his memories and has grudge on all the world wants to destroy it, and end up killing himself when his memories return, and ofcourse, this happens at the last moment when he was holding a gun against the hero's head.
the setting of the biological weapon and the terrorist act is similar to that of the movie "the rock" (Sean Connery and Nicholas Cage stars), the same little orbs that contain a deadly virus and once they are crushed they kill whomever around the area, except those who has the anti virus in their blood.
to cut my story short, watching it is not a waste of time, neither spending great time.

| Its a very good movie overall and only should be seen after seeing the series as all the character info came from there. This movie is more of an extended addition of the anime series, does not go with the story of the anime, more of a side story.

| Truly an ode to what Cowboy Bebop is. If you even remotely enjoyed the anime you will like this movie. Although a bit long it keeps your attention the whole movie.
The movie stays true to the jazzy feel of the show and all the characters have their same laid back apeal. I dont want to give anything away but the story is intriguing but predictable. That isn't to say it is bad because the action is not the same old destruction and fighting. The moves and chase scenes all add something new to the genre and definitely qualify as a a grand action movie.
This movie adds in the coolest guy of all time(voted on by thousands) who can fight smoke blow stuff up and has time to be have a troubled life. I enjoy this movie also because it stays true to real life in every way it can. Not everyone wins, life isn't perfect , and you have to fight for what you want.

| First of all I'm not a really big fan of the show, but I am a fan. I really didn't expect "Cowboy Bebob - Knockin' on heaven's door" to be as good as it was. It is filled with some pretty cool action and a pretyy good plot with good characters.
Animation - The animation had the same style and drawins as the TV series' did but this movie had a bit better graphics and had more fluent movement and could do more. I mean come on Fayes boobs move. Um yea lets get back, the shading was good. They even had a bit of CGI in the movie.
Sound - I watched the english dubbed which was good. They had the same voice talant as the series' which I thought was very good. The opening theme was like the TV series theme. Music in the background fit well.
Story - The story seemed like a long episode but it had more plot detail. The story is about a guy that has a huge bounty over his head. They thought the guy was dead but the guy was alive and wants to see the end of the world. There are alot of action sceans which you will enjoy because they seem to come out of nowhere. I did not spoil anything so don't worry about it. It was overal a above average
Characters - You have the regular cast with a few extra characters which is always good. All the characters' are likeable even the bad guy(he's just so cool). The designs were good and not cheesey loking. There were no high-pitched female voice which thank god I am damn happy for.
Value - The rewatch value is good but not like right away. I do recommend this movie to anyone who is fan of Cowboy Bebop or even if they don't no about Cowboy Bebop. Its worth collecting especially if your a fan of the TV series', also because it's not expensive.

| Cowboy Bebop - Knockin' on Heaven's door is kind of a lost episode in TV series, I think it's supposed to take place near the end.
This movie is pure bebop glory; you get all the jazz, kung fu, and groove deliciously animated in Anamorphic Widescreen format, accompanied with 5.1 sound of Bebop music greatness.
It really is a visual/audio feast.
The characters are impossible cool and interesting, especially if you know them beforehand with the TV series, if not you may be a little dettached.
The story is about a more dangerous than usual bount hunt, which involves corporate corruption, bio-terrorism, and cover-ups, a bit more than the usual Bebop episode, but it's well written and entertaining.
This movie is really cool, a must if you have seen at least half of the show, and if you just want to get a taste from the series, you could also try this; you may not understand the characters' motives and personalities, bu it will probably leave you wanting more. Great movie.

| Cowboy Bebop - Knockin' on Heaven's Door is an impressive 120 minute long movie set between episodes 22 and 23.
The graphics are perfect for something released in 2001. The anime movie looks better than every anime released at that time. The CG graphics in the movie look very impressive, and the shadows and shading are drawn very well. Animation is smooth throughout, and every scene, including the fighting ones, looks very detailed.
The music is just as diverse as it was in the Cowboy Bebop series, although none of the tracks particularly appealed to me. There is also a slight lack of Jazz.
The storyline will not be a let down if you enjoyed the story behind the Cowboy Bebop series - only a bit more serious and dangerous this time. Instead of chasing after small time crooks or terrorists like in the series, the movie features more of a worldwide crisis.
The characters are very well done, just like in the series. All of Bebop's original crew contribute a significant part to the movie, although that can't be said for the newly introduced ones. Some of the characters introduced suffer from a lack of development, and makes one ponder their role in the movie. Nevertheless, it is made up by the dynamic actions of Bebop's crew, and this area is definitely not a let down to the movie.
This movie shows nothing new, apart from the greatly improved visuals. Anyone who enjoyed Cowboy Bebop would no doubt enjoy the movie, although that can't be said for people who didn't enjoy the series.

| This show does not put the original Cowboy Bebop to shame. The last curtain call of the cast of this grand series was not a blooper or a fluke. It was spectacular, and I'm sad to see the series close out for sure on such a high note. Click below for more review information.
I left out the character rating intentionally--see the original Bebop.

| "Cowboy Bebop: Knocking on Heaven's Door" is an animated feature based on a tv anime series (released on DVD) that has gained quite a following on both sides of the Pacific. It is interesting to note how Mr. Watanabe manages to pull off a balancing act required to satisfy both the loyal following of the tv series, to whom the introduction of principal characters and setting would be redundant, and to those who are relatively new to the "Cowboy Bebop" universe, of which I am the latter.
To those not well versed in the "Cowboy Bebop" lore, it takes some time to get familiar with various featured characters. The film begins in the same fashion as any of its self-contained tv episode would, in that not a lot of exposition is provided for grasping the setting. The characters are more or less introduced as 'bounty hunters' and that is as much of a background the film lets on before establishing the main plot.
It is not too much of a setback not to be given any opportunity to become attached to any of the characters. They are there to simply convey various scenes of the main plot and arrange them into place before they culminate into an oft-tread climax. The plot is briskly disclosed (rather literally spelled out by dialogue, no implication) and turns out to be a fairly mundane yarn that does not break any new ground in narrative nor provide any catalyst for any interesting character development or revelation.
The symbolism and nuance that are laid thick in colorful locales and poignant sceneries may merit repeat viewings to appreciate them; a careful analysis of the film brings another level of enjoyment to overall experience. Also relationships between the characters and circumstantial developments of the plot seem to rely too impulsively on coincidence, not mindful of what the viewer is meant to discern. This could be attributed to attempting to weave a credible plot involving diverse elements and subplots in a limited frame of time, or it could have been something else relevant in the context of the "Cowboy Bebop" tv series. Some have suggested that this film is nothing but a figurative dream, in which the main character confronts the guilt of his past to help him proceed to his ultimate fate in the last remaining episodes of the tv series.
If that was the case, then the film ends up being not as complete or entertaining to the "Cowboy Bebop" novices as it would have been for those well acquainted with the tv series. To that effect, it is rather disappointing.
"Cowboy Bebop" features lush animation that features some of the most impressive displays of action sequences put to cel, particularly the confrontation at the medical lab between Spike and Electra, not to mention the prolonged martial no-holds-barred showdown between Vincent and Spike. The character designs are fairly distinct and varied, although in some instances they linger a bit too long on stereotypical depiction of some races. The details given to many of the locales are unsurpassed in their variety and ambience; it is a testament to how artists went as far as to include references to mainstream culture, dotting the background with "WcDonald's" and "Kodac" (although I am lead to believe such play on words is the Japanese equivalent of product placement).
The music is another highlight of the film, which is not unexpected of Yoko Kano, who is a renowned composer of anime soundtrack who have previously lent her resourceful talents to other popular anime such as "Macross Plus" (another collaboration with the director Watanabe). The compact blend of blues and jazz heightens the urgent mood and graces slower parts with an equally effective repertoire. I don't know about others, but I did not mind the dubbing of the film too much. Maybe because the voices are supported by a script that is partially altered to bring out genuine emotion to the dialogue and to resolve colloquial barriers between the languages.
"Cowboy Bebop: Knocking on Heaven's Door" is a good standard action romp that is further enhanced by superb animation, equally enjoyable music, and more or less succeeds both as a tribute to the series' fans and a good introduction of the series to those who might be interested in one of the better anime licenses to have come ashore. Recommended.

| The movie of the Cowboy Bebop movie was better than the series itself. I get that excited feeling whenever I think about it. I have watched this movie 6 times already! everything about this movie is perfect. It has everything a good movie should have. Good music, Action, Romance, Drama, Mystery. Cowboy Bebop has it all.

| Knocking on Heaven's Door was a better experience that I originally thought it would be. It's rare that a film that comes after a series manages to capture what made the series great and become quite a little jewel in its own right. Such is the case of this film. I played the first part of it with absolutely no expectations of seeing something good, just an afternoon film packed with action and a mediocre plot at best. Well, the action part was there, the plot as well although it was more than I would call mediocre and the bad guy is interesting. In the 2 hours that the film lasts everything it sets out to do is done and pretty much it managed to keep my interest ignited until the end.
For starters I must say about the animation. Lush backgrounds, overwhelming detail...this was one of the most beautiful films I have ever seen. There is a sense of self-awareness about how great everything was done in the graphic sector and the film is not cheap on showing off.
Off course, the character designs were not neglected either. The characters were once again looking good and animated to match the overall urban beauty of this film. Again, a lot of effort went into the animation sector of CB and in the end it shows. A stunning, fully artistic masterpiece is how I would describe the film from the animation point of view.
Next, in the sound sector things haven’t really changed one bit. The music is once again unique in each moment that it appears. The pieces are a quite diverse for what you'd expect from a film but that doesn't mean that they're all masterpieces. Here it's a matter of tastes and the music in KoHD was not really to my taste. The voices were fine, Faye's voice seeming a bit better over the original series (that or I'm just imagining things). Overall, the sound was decent.
The story seemed like a typical plot from the episodes of the anime. Quite honestly I enjoyed more the stretched out story of the film than the short stories in the TV series. The plot was decent enough to keep itself interesting from start to end. There are some twists in the plotline but generally it just feels like an extended Bebop episode. Nonetheless, it is good, surprisingly good.
And the characters. I won't say anything abut the ones that are already known from the TV series: Spike, Faye, Jet, Ed and Ein...their development is made in CB. Here, it's about Vincent. An excellent villain, the character is developed fairly well in the 2 hours that the film lasts. It's rare that such a villain portrayed so well in a single film. Vincent, a man with nothing to lose, his calmness in each situation made him quite enjoyable, as much as was Vicious.
In the end I must say that I liked the film (I think I already said that). It was an interesting experience and at times it even surpassed its original.

| Since the movie goes in between episodes 22 and 23 of the series and I watched it in that order i knew more about the characters and the story outline, however if you are going to only watch the movie then the above ratings I have given are correct for only the movie. The character rating would be higher if i rated them togethor. I would recommend this as a single movie to watch but I think that you should watch it in the right order as I wrote before becaus then the impact is greater.

| I dropped in on this title without even seeing this popular series at first, but having some beforehand knowledge of it. The beginning pretty much amazed me because it gave me a great first impression on Spike, and because of those flashy combat moves! I found the story to be rather like a long but enjoyable episode that the director paid special attention to. It was fascinating to me how the bounty hunters were so varied in both their characters and methods of tracking down their catches. I found Vincent to be particularly intriguing, and Spike and Faye to be lots of fun! I enjoyed this small glimpse into the Bebop world and hope to see more of it in the highly-acclaimed series.

| I loved Cowboy Bebop, and when I saw this movie I found the same feeling that made great the tv serie.
This movie is a big episode placed before the episde 23 of the tv serie. The story is very interesting and is directed in a beautiful way. You will never be bored and there are no dead point in the script, that is always clear. The action moment are well balacnced with the rest of the narrative plot.
The music is simply wanderful.
The animation has the same style of the tv serie, but is more fluent and accurate.
What can I say about the characters? They are mythical! Spike Spiegel, Jet, Edward, Faye...and in this movie we know for the first (and the last?) time Electra.
To finish this review I can only to advise you this movie: I think it is one of the best I have ever seen. I`m sure that every anime fan will enjoy it!

| This is, in my opinion, the best animated film ever. The animation is absolutely superb. The funding Sunrise and Bandai were allowed to spend on this movie resulted in some of the most crisply drawn cityscapes I've ever seen in any animation, Japanese or not. The story is awesome and ofcourse, it takes place in the Cowboy Bebop storyline which is one of, if not, the best action anime ever.

| This movie is just downright exciting and fully loaded with intense action from start to finish. The plot and story line is fast paced and non linear yet well told, with all the puzzle pieces fitting together nicely near the end, creating a complete picture. The script is novel and highly sophisticated, but nonetheless logical and comprehensible. No words are wasted, and there are no lame remarks or scenes, making this one of the few cliche free movies I've seen in a while. Animation is top notch smooth, characters are larger than life and too cool for the likes of Goku(Sorry DBZ fans. Music? Yoko Kanno, nuff said.

| All of the greatest parts of Cowboy Bebop rolled into one movie and summarized up. Lessof the slower paced animation parts that I found to be unlikable in the series.
Top notch animation in terms of detail, animation, and color in comparison to the series, but for a movie it isn't that impressive.
Everything is so nice when put together.
Great use of music in all aspects that really enhance the mood. Great sound effects as well. I really liked the intro theme and opening
High points of the characters are shown in this movie. A great ominous villain too, none of the corny villains you find in other animes. Although he can get boring.
This movie is not only for the Cowboy Bebop fan, i'd recommend this to anyone, even those unfamiliar to this series. (Note, this is different than saying recommending it to those who hated this series). If you didn't like the pace of this series, I guess you might not like this movie.
Some weaknesses, hm, if you aren't interested in this type of story about terrorists and bounty hunters hunting after them at all, then I guess u might not like this. Also, this continues Cowboy Bebop style humor and C.B. style story telling, so the way this movie proceeds is slow to build up, a sudden big bang at the climax, then ends. Because of this, I agree with someone else that it is kind of hard to remember a lot the stuff that happens. I've watched this twice and it seemed totally new the second time.
