Before RK the animation came RK the manga. This is a manga that was around 3-4 years I think. As I read the non-english translation, of the original booklet, I can say I am quite satisfied with it. The only problem is that the last 1/4 of the book did not make into anime format even though it had a definite conclusion. Those who read the book and see the anime afterwords will be a bit disappointed as the anime does not end the same way.

You used to read this alot. It was one of my favorite shows couple years back as well. Its definitely a manga to remember. The story is intriguely written setting it back to the Meiji Era in Japan (Roughly 100-150 years ago) and provides a background of the time. However it does not lack in the combat. The fight scenes probably arent as tense as some are now, but more than adequate enough for most people (unless you're really macho). I recommend anyone who watched the anime to read the manga as well it provides a new perspective on the story.

I've read this manga over and over especially when I had nothing to do during summer vacation, but it never really lost its charm. This manga series is fun and exciting not to mention that it also has enough considerable depth in Kenshin to drive the plot for very long time without letting it get to stale.

Kenshin owns this show and the Mangaka knows it quite well. Sanosuke and such are good side kicks but that really do not have the depth Kenshin has to stand on their own. The whole story is truly about Kenshin and all the enimies that coe from Kenshin past. The story is driven by this. An enimy will come from the past and reveal a bit more about Kenshin's past and it will haunt him. Shihio Saga and Enishi saga are defnitely one of the best action manga read you will have for sure with it tragedies and excitement that coexist within it.

But having sad all that the beginning of the manga definitely drags. They really didn't need as quite as much development in the beginning to start the Shishio Saga. I would've been nice if the story was a bit over tightly organized. That goes for Shishio saga as well. I personally did not like how the Kenshin's battle with Shishio turned out to be like a mortal combat type of thing. Having said that enishi saga is definetely my favorite part of the manga. Kenshin's past is revealed and no chapters are wasted on doing useless things. Manga design realy gets perfected suring these chapters more than anything. and the dramatic build up and finish is something that I think is one of the best I've seen in any mangas.

this is a great action manga. It starts out a bit slow with a enemy from the past of the week type of thing, but quickly picks the story up with Shishio saga and will give you a exciting ride from there. Design in the beginning is rough, but it reaches its perfection at the Enishi saga. But what really owns this show is Kenshin. He makes it all worth while.

Kenshin's charm is its length. There are so many things that happen in this storyline that you can't help but to love the feeling left in your mouth. There are certainly some ups and downs in the storyline, a few things that feel a bit slow, but it seems like nearly all characters are touched upon. My only qualm about the character cast is that this anime is pretty much a one man show. Kaoru, Yahiko, the chicken haired guy do very little in terms of plot progress. It is mosty Kenshin dealing with his painful past while trying to live in the present

First of all, Kenshin has such a noble character personality. He's troubled, yet strong. Noble, yet weak. He gets in a whole mess of various situations that is just so enjoyable to read. Each villain that he meets seems to draw out the killer in him, yet he has this mantra of never to kill. (He uses a reverse bladed katana). Although this may seem lame and overused, the reason behind Kenshin's philosophy seems pretty legit and natural.

The first few volumes kind of develop the personality of Kenshin. They are more humorous, light-hearted, and silly. The middle portions are just various villains that were once in Kenshin's past when he was an assassin for a certain sect during the civil war. His personality gets more morbid as tougher and tougher villains seek a bloodfest.

What stands out the MOST for me is the final few volumes after the anime ends. Here, everything was tied up - Kenshin's past (his enemies), Kenshin's present (mostly his love), Kenshin's future (which is kind of shocking to read). During these final few volumes, we get to see the true horror of all of Kenshin's woes combined as he believes he has failed to protect the ones he loves.

Whether or not you've seen the anime, I definitely recommend reading this manga. It truly is a great creation with a very interesting story, a great cast of good guys and villains, and a lovable main character. I love the length of this manga the most as I can never get enough of it.

One of my favourites. its actually better than the anime which in my opinion is one of the best animes ever made (until the end of kyoto arc). Nice followups made later starring yahiko is interresting read. Worth your time!

The first 28 volume manga I read. Having watched the mediocre anime I was initially put off but then I thought of how many good mangas were so horribly adapted in anime and decided to give it a try.

It was one of the best mangas I read. Though certainly I wouldnt dare comparing it with ''Lone Wolf and Cub'', nevertheless it has its own merits and some scenes are exciting. I liked the Kyoto arc more than the Enichi arc later in the manga, and found the interval of kenshin's reminiscense also magnificent. The battles were very well designed and considering this was the first manga of the mangaka I think he did an excellent job.

All the characters were excellent and have nothing to do with their anime counterparts.

If you liked the anime read the manga cause the anime does this title a great injustice.
