| I managed to read all volumes, except 14. I read up to chapter 5 of volume 19. It seems the ending is close. It will span maybe 2-3 volumes more. despite the repetitiveness of the dragons of earth vs dragon of heaven and the end of the world etc. it managed to get interesting. But because the first volumes are very slow paced and dont reach the grandiosity of the later ones some points are reduced in the story.

| A pretty good read from the manga, it had more of a drama concept than the action itself. The character designs were also great, which was nicely done by the makers of Clamp. A fun and decent one, for anybody who likes the shoujo genre with some exciting plots.

| X is definitely one of the best mangas I have ever read. I can hardly find words to describe it.. It's incredibly angsty, dramatic and the plot is amazing. But the characters and their relationships.. no, it can't be told, you must see it for yourself. This story can bring to tears..
The artwork in the first volumes isn't really great, but later on it becomes simply brilliant. The design is unbelievably exact and stunning.
I can't wait for the ending!

| One of the first mangas that I've read. The english translation version flows quite nicely and I prefer the manga over the anime.
The anime is too slow and even boring at times and the manga makes up for this. A lot more detail in story telling, great art, and since one can read it fast, there is no problems with stuff being slow.
Interesting plot about the end of the world. A good mix between semi-love scenes, and good/evil, and conflicts between friends. A must read for any manga fan. (Im sure most have already.)
I agree with others that it sucks that it is coming out way too slowly. I heard about this manga a long time ago and I'm not up to date on it, but is it not even finished yet?

| This story is amazing... amazing and bloody. Anything a guy or a bad girl would love. The character designs did start out old due to it being released in 1992 and the story sort of is a bit too intense for my taste in places, but overall it's wonderful.
The only problem is, it's 2005. Only up to volume 18 is released and it's STILL NOT FINISHED. They just put it away and they haven't continued it in a while! I've only read up to volume 10 myself, but I know that 18 is a cliff hanger and for fans of this manga, CLAMP needs to try harder.
This manga would be better if CLAMP would decide to actually FINISH it. There are rumors of volume 20 or 21 are the endings... other rumors stand that there will be more than 50.
Honestly I don't care how many there are supposed to be, but 13 years is WAYYYY too long to be holding out a series. I mean come on... that's not even 2 a year!
So if you want to read this series, you'll have to deal with a mind-straining cliff hanger...
In any case, it's a wonderful anime!

| The manga is far better than the lame excuse of X-Movie and the much edited X TV. Interesting series with the usual CLAMP trademarks: girly looking boys (hot damn, Kakyou is by far the prettiest character in the series), blatant shounen-ai esp vol.9 thru vol.16 between our confused hero Kamui and his older friend Subaru, overly sexy evil women, nakedness, lesbianism (what? you missed the Tohru/Saya confession?), underaged realtionship, dastardly evil villians and the kitchen sink.
Seriously.
The artwork improved as the series progressed; too bad the boys, especially Kamui, Subaru and Kakyou become more and more feminine looking. Infact I see more sign of aneroxic guys than shounen-ai! These guys need to eat more.
Thank goodness Fuuma retained his masculine badass looks, even though I find it odd why he just didn't give Kamui the Shinken and put that kid outta his miserable confused state. His random killing and destroying spree is the highlight of the series. Boy, this guy is SINISTER!
Seishirou's death was vastly amusing and handled poorly. Despite having a fist-sized hole in his heart, he yammered for ages before he fell dead. I found that scene utterly STUPID. People with fist-sized hole in the heart don't usually have the luxury to chit-chat. Even if they have magic powers.
Seems that after ten years CLAMP has decided to shelve this series, leaving the ending hanging. Buy this series if you don't mind waiting for an unspecified period to find out what's the ending gonna be.
Will Kamui die? Or will Fuuma? Who cares -- just get on with it, CLAMP!

| I just love it!!! it is such a beautiful manga i just thought tht it was really interesting to read. i just really love mangas and animes tht talk abt the end of the world. there is this one quote tht i read abt x/1999 tht just got me more interested in this manga it went like this:
" the end of the world never looked so beautiful."

| this is a great manga, the anime was sorta okay, as i heard it. but the manga was super!!! it really has the beauty... the characters are really beautiful!!! the story itself was a little confusing at first, but then you get the hang of it. i didnt finish the story itself, i only have up to book 6.

| This manga is way better than the anime. The manga has all thar is deleted in the anime. Moreover, it's CLAMP, you can't go wrong here. I've been reading X since it first came out.

| A great manga by CLAMP and my personal favorite. Unlike other mangas, all the characters develop a lot, not just the main characters. Add that to a compelling storyline about fate and beautiful drawings, and this manga is perfect.

| X/1999 is one of the greatest manga titles ever to come out of Japan. Not only has it the most original characters, but also, the most original combonation of them. A must read for every manga fan there is.
