Infinite Ryvius was a rather good anime that was, as several other reviewers have noted, held back by its disappointing first half and subpar animation. Its music was generally forgettable as well. However, it claims its excellence in its superb characters and story.

In short, Ryvius is a futuristic Lord of the Flies - and it does live up to the book's legacy in its own right.

Ryvius, in my opinion, has a little too much hype. Though it bore many similarities to "Lord of the Flies" in both characters and plot, for the first ten or so episodes it was incredibly painful. The second half of Ryvius was very strong, but most definitely dulled by the beginning. An assortment of incredibly weak strings, such as the conflict between the Aiba brothers and Lucson, could have used a lot more polish and finesse in their execution.

My disappointment was probably furthered by a very weak display of animation. Were it just of low quality that'd be one thing (think Shadow Skill TV for comparison), but there were many downright awful disproportionalities, such as Lucson's head versus his body. Others, like Johnson, were downright cartoonish. When these bad designs were juxtaposed over good designs (like Blue, Faina, or Juli) it just destroyed the mood. If you're familiar with "Lord of the Flies," it should come as no surprise that Ryvius would not be in the least bit a happy or fun series; I would have liked the animation to reflect this.

Even worse, however, was the sound score. The opening and ending themes were decent, but the insert music couldn't have been any more out of place. I'm not quite sure what genre characterizes it, nor what emotional feelings it drew out from me, but it definitely did not fit. I would compare it to having a heavy metal song playing over a slice of life/romance series during the scene when the boy and girl first kiss. Couple this with a Seiyuu that could have used some tuning (Kouji's VA could have used a LOT of work -- his voice kept cracking and sounded very unprofessional) and it's not something that deserves any amount of praise.

I initially wanted to drop Ryvius after a few episodes, but the many glowing reviews here kept me going, and in a way I'm glad I did. Though I had to wait for half the series, the drama in the latter half stayed quite true to Golding's work, with Kouji being somewhat of a hybrid between Ralph and Piggy. This was a definite plus, as none of the cruelty or mistreatment was glossed over -- it's a society controlled by brute force, and this is constantly exercised to maintain order. The psychological and social questions Ryvius surfaces are interesting, especially with the constant battles between logic/instinct and idealism/realism. These were pretty much the sole reasons I kept interest, as all the character relationships I liked revolved around these issues.

As far as characters go, the only two I really thought were good were Aoi and Juli; all the others were mediocre or poor. Aoi possessed a considerable amount of depth, especially as the social structure in the Ryvius crumbled. The disparagement in rational behavior is reflected through her on all levels, and I thus found her the most interesting to follow. Juli traced in similar footsteps as far as depth goes, though approached from the angle of elite over that of commoner. Overall, though, the vast majority of the characters seemed too flat for half the series and then were magically given depth. I will admit, however, most of the characters had "transitional phases" based on events which inspired these changes, and all were executed with finesse. I'm surprised at how much my opinions for the characters shifted. Regardless, when you have characters on a spaceship that run around nearly naked or in dinosaur suits, it's hard to take things seriously; couple this with the bad animation and sound scores and it leaves a lot to be desired.

Ultimately, however, Ryvius is definitely worth viewing for its second half. After episode seventeen I finished the series in a streak of a few hours, though it took me a couple weeks to get through episodes six to twelve. Despite its high points, its many flaws drag this overall above-average anime to average or slightly below. Nevertheless, Ryvius' popularity should not be overlooked; it definitely is worthy of some of that praise.

Recommended.

Infinite Ryvius can be juxtaposed to modern classics of literature such as George Orwell's 1984 or William Golding's "Lord of the Flies"; not only for it's potent psychological focus on its characters, but also the way the events seem to fold out in a downward spiral, as the sole survivors of the Liebe Delta disaster are none other than close to 500 children, who were in an astronaut training academy before events led them to board the mysterious Ryvius ship. Infinite Ryvius is the story of the children's journey home.

One could say that while this series focuses on about 9 or 10 main characters, essentially every character in this series is a main character, as it's a series that provides a shifting focus to reflect the triumphs, tensions, and overall changing moods as the students try to hold onto the hope of going home.

I definitely cite Infinite Ryvius as one of my favorite series, as well as one of the best screenplays that I've ever had the opportunity to watch unfold. Yet, I wouldn't say that the series is flawless. The animation, for a 1999 production, is rather dated, character consistency can be quite shabby in points. Yet the design of the ships and the battle sequences are noteworthy. Music is quite lovely, from Mika Arisaka's renditions to the OP theme to the instrumental pieces played throughout the series: it really sets a nice atmosphere overall. The characters are quite carefully crafted and watching them develop and change over the course of the journey home proves quite rewarding. The story is excellently crafted, providing a proper amount of tension, conspiracy, and even a minor bit of romance. The collective message associated with Infinite Ryvius is how ugly human nature can become in desparation, as well as revealing the inperfections in the focused cast, in rather potent terms.

"I just... continued... to watch. Yes. While drifting within a dark world I've continued watching something as it stirs on the other side. Various colors would dance within me, and then vanish. Various colors, weak, strong, bright, and dark. Now I know the meaning of those colors. Joy, sorrow, anger, anxiety, discontent, pleasure, impatience, hope, despair, ambition, passion, murderous intent, enchantment, jealousy, delight, envy, grief, desire. I strongly felt the souls of people, the strong feelings of people. Soon, I was able to sense the feelings of many of the people here. Like the person who believes there is only one way to survive. The person who struggles to do something about a situation that's out of control. The person who vowed never to make the same mistake again. The person who insists on living true to her feelings. The person who lives day-to-day unable to put into words the feelings she locks within her. The person who is denied of his way of living, but continues to push forward. The person who dislikes anything less than perfect, and searches for excellence. The person who believes in her ideals, and cuts off her past, to live her future. The person who hates to be held back by his past and continues searching for the place where he should be. The various thoughts that mingle with each other, melt into me until at some point one clear, united feeling arises. That feeling...! I don't want to die. I want to keep on living. As simple as that."

Infinite Ryvius was a gamble. Making a show about hundreds of people isolated in one place is not easy. If characters are weak, annoying or simply not interesting, such show would've been doomed to fail. Fortunately, not only Infinite Ryvius has a strong and huge cast of characters, but they are one of the most interesting, real and variable individuals I have ever seen to this date in any fiction. I couldn't find even at least one, dislikeable character in this show. All of them are portrayed so realisticly that you can do nothing else but to feel for them and think about them. During the period when I was watching this show, even when the episode wasn't running and I was doing some other thing rather than watching anime, characters would still live in my head. Actually, I got so addicted to this show that I couldn't pretty much do anything else than to think about it. That's why I encourage you to watch this show during your holidays. Even my dreams were full of Infinite Ryvius.

If you love science fiction, space or psychology, then this show is nothing more you could ask for. Watch it and praise it! I was lucky enough to like all three things mentioned before, making this show into one of my all time favourites. In fact if you'd liked this show, I recommend Seikai no Monshou and Neon Genesis Evangelion. Or vice versa.

Infinite Ryvius is a sci-fi action drama. It is about a group of students who get isolated on an experimental battle ship known as the Ryvius, and someone is out to get them. This series features decent animation, sound, and plot. The true strength of this series lies in its believable and sometimes aggravating characters. Though you may be angered at this anime sometimes I recomend it highly.

One of the most Forgotten series in the industry and that's quite a shame. Infinite Ryvius may be the the sighting definition of what's a masterpiece. Everything is so addictive and so intense, that i urge myself to watch it all in one day.

The story if i must say ins't quite you would often see in anime but it does come a little near to the movie "TiTanic". Yes titanic but without the whole Romance thing. The story takes place actually in outer space, through the first episode till the last and generally about a bunch of people who are being stranded alone in space after their ship were sabotaged by a group of organization. However this alone ins't what excites the story but the people inside the ship who will they have to learn to survive by themeselves.
Infinite Ryviyus is like a natural slice-of life genre anime with a bunch of Sci-fi on it. Being alone inside that ship, people would start to unveil their true self, which brings how dramatic the plot is, May it be family matters or anything else.

Virtually this time the plot ins't defining about one specific character and rather everyone in general. Neither does it surpass the same used concept of having a character stronger than anyone. Aiba Kouji, being one of the main spotlight characters, his personality ins't the strongest of the bunch and quite often he would get bullied by his own brother. His brother, in the other hand is my favorite though sometime his attitude can really be too much offensive but needless to complain since his personality it's partly what accentuate the whole drama in the story.

The animation is quite poor. Everyone's kind a short and skinny and it really took me a while to get used to it. Although The other points which include the ships and the whole look of what's outer space was a really fascinating well-done work.

The soundtracks were really beyond than what i was expected and simply because they were amazing. They really connect with the theme of the plot with a very hip-hop kind a style. The Ops/eds also are perfect.

This anime shouldn't be underestimated and i really wish that it was more popular. Which is why i really recommend it.

Take Lord of the Flies, turn into an anime and set in a space. That was my first impression of Infinite Ryvius, but ultimately it turned out to be a lot more than that.

Ryvius is a deep and fascinating study of what would happen if 500 or so teenagers were stuck on board a spaceship for months on end. There is a sci-fi sub plot too, but the serve primarily to set the scene and fill in a few plot holes. Instead the show is about the characters and how they react to the situation they in. We watch as the society they create onboard the Ryvius evolves as events proceed and each of the characters responds to these events. The show is a study of peoples emotions and political systems, detailing the effects of each system and how people to respond to it and why they feel the way they do.

For this to work as well as it does the characters have to be excellent. Thankfully they are. They're not the most likeable bunch but the main characters are all complex and rounded people thrown into a difficult situation. By and large they act like it too, each driven by their past to act in a certain way. We see them develop and change as the situation progresses and as the situation on board the ship grow worse and worse. Naturally, there is a lot of angst and we see an awful lot of the darker side of human nature. We see a lot of betrayal and violence. But that is only to be expected from a series such this.

Overall, Infinite Ryvius is an excellent series. Anyone who enjoys a more thoughtful and slower paced anime is certain to like it, provided they can tolerate the angst and the darker tone of the series.

From the first episodes, Infinite Ryvious reminded me of a very old OVA I saw about a group of kids stranded on a desert island and separated in two rival factions. That old anime, the title of which I dont remember, was one of my favorites.

So I thought that Ryvious would be as exciting as that old OVA, not in animation (there's 20+ years time difference after all) or story (Ryvious has one of the best story concepts anime can offer) but the one and most important thing for me: characters. And Ryvious failed miserably in that aspect. Still, old animes have much better characterization with Captain Harlock as the prime example. In fact Ryvious has one of the worst characterizations in sci-fi anime overall. I watched Silent Mobius prior to that anime and it is a pity how an anime with a much simpler and laughable story has way better characters than Ryvious.

The main reason for this mess is that they put 15 year olds as the main characters. I dont mind 15 year olds as main characters, but at least make them act and sound like 15 year olds and not making them cry or shout in an ultra-annoying way or add cliches like ''stay here, you have to protect the weak girls from rapists and thiefs'' (and this was addressed to a 6 year old boy to stay here and protect the girls!) etc.

Up to episode 17 things worked fine, though there were some annoying traits here and there. But then when madness begins to strike the main characters the reactions are so unrealistic and terribly acted that the anime lost a lot of points. Also had to do with the mediocre facial animation. In fact I havent seen a more terrible depiction of a character crying.

Another issue was with the direction and the pacing. Now how is it possible for 15 year old novices to outmaneuvre with such dexterity their more experienced and overwhelming opponents in mecha battles? This kind of anime is targeted at serious viewers? Has some Naruto feeling in it. Compare this mediocrity with the excellence of Banner of the Stars II to see the difference. And the existence of Neya? Well Canal of Lost Universe and Melfina of Outlaw Star were much better ship incarnations and even that weird Rahxephon girl too. So nothing spectacular.

In sum: Had this anime only better characters it would be good, even with a flawed direction. There's an angsty atmoshere in the end and it turns like a psychological thriller but only just, thanks to the mediocre characterization.
Also there's no clue as to what happens outside the ship with everyone trying to capture it. Outside the ship things are a mess. Various generals, politicians etc have some dialog that doesnt interest me at all.

On the plus side: the very nice OP theme and animation and 1-2 memorable characters, that in my opinion are Juli and the weasel. The weasel is simply the best pet to appear in anime ever and it is too bad it doesnt get that much screentime since it could have ridiculed all the other characters.

As for the technical aspects:
the spastic rap/hip hop tunes during the intervals really annoyed me and the animation was overall poor especially in character depiction.

Recommended viewing only to see how a brilliant concepts goes down the drain so quickly. Better watch Crest/Banner of Stars or Planetes (I only read the very good manga) or stick with Captain Harlock.

Btw I wouldnt dare compare this mediocrity with Lord of the Flies.

Infinite Ryvius is a series which is not given its due merit in mainstream anime. This is due to the fact that it deals with the topic of human cruelty in such a blunt manner that it drives most of the people away. Ryvius starts out like just another series - In the near future, due to an astronomical phenomenon, the Solar System underwent drastic changes which resulted in loss of life on Earth. We are introduced to an astronaut training facility for older teens which houses 500 odd students. Due to an accident, only the children remain alive and all the adults perish. And thus their journey begins - 500 young people must co-exist to survive.

The story of Infinite Ryvius can be divided into two parts - one which deals with the characters and the other part which deals with Ryvius (the spaceship in which the teens reside) trying to escape the people who are trying to bring it down. It thus has the bearings of both a plot driven as well as a character driven anime. The initial three-four episodes are easily the dullest of all the episodes - which contain all sorts of mumbo-jumbo jargon like sere, cubes, Libiel etc. It is done in the style of Rahxephon where the user is not given the time to understand what is going on. Slowly the story unravels and we are given the complete picture. The plot on its own is nothing that great - it is not executed with a lot of finesse. It’s not bad, but then again it’s not that great either.

What makes Infinite Ryvius as one of the most memorable anime to grace TV are its characters. For a 26 episode anime, it has a lot of them - around 20 characters. And all are developed perfectly. Another thing in which Infinite Ryvius stands out is that almost all the characters are good at heart and yet cruel. And some are cruel enough to make you gag in disbelief. All the characters, with the exception of Kouji and Aoi are contradictory. This is another reason which makes Ryvius fascinating to watch. While initially the characters appear as your everyday teens hanging around and having fun - the mood of the series begins to change after episode 7. The cheerfulness gradually decreases. And whenever it returns, it is always masked by something sinister. By the middle of the series, the tensions between the characters start their upward turn and Ryvius then becomes a pressure cooker with no outlet for the steam to escape. It is here that Ryvius shines as one of the best series with unbelievably realistic portrayal of human cruelty, betrayal and hopelessness. People crack, they die, they cry, the betray, they are betrayed and all of this, while they are fighting for their existence from an external threat - all this is done without any toning down - it is presented as it is - making this series easily one of the best series I've watched in terms of characters, and characters relationships.

It should be given clear by now that this is not a very feel-good series during its run. Yet, for those who like statements to be explicit - You better be prepared while watching Ryvius for some very ghastly moments. They are by no means very violent or gory, but that does not make them any less unpleasant. One may even dub it as psychological torture of characters. Another thing which must mentioned is that I found the ending to be a bit too optimistic. I will not say more, since it would act as a spoiler.

I highly recommend Infinite Ryvius. It has easily some great anime moments which are worth remembering. Before you begin this series, be sure to ask yourself if you are capable to see the characters being hurt, betrayed by friends, crack from stress to points when they forget what is real etc. In short can you appreciate the dark side of human nature in all its resplendent glory? (And I do not mean 'dark side' the way it was shown in Elfen Lied - that was cheesy) If yes, Infinite Ryvius is an excellent series indeed. While the animation is shoddy (what do you expect, it’s Sunrise), and the plot does have a few flaws - the excellent characterizations more than make up for all the shortcomings of this great series. Go and get it, you will not regret watching Infinite Ryvius.

Infinite Ryvius is something that you will love as the series goes on. Their main focus is about the children in the Ryvius that wills to accomplish one goal: to go back home.

Animation: Not up to standard since it was made during the late 90's but still bearable. The character designs were a bit flawed mostly on supporting characters and certain main characters ( ex. Lucson) but other than that, it's alright.

Sound: A mix of J-pop on the OP and ED and Hip-Hop as BGM. It fits the theme of the story since it is all about the youth. The seiyuu are a problem though. Some of the character's voices don't exactly fit their respective roles and their is also an instance where the same seiyuu casts two opposite characters which was very inconsistent.

Story: Probably the most dramatic anime of its time yet. There are many subplots consisting of the characters but the main plot about survival on board the Ryvius is the best among the lot. Although some background would've been nice about some of the aspects in the anime.

Characters: This anime swells with an abundance of characters each with their own story. The only problem is that there seems to be a lack of background among some of the relevant characters in the series but nonetheless, not that big an impact in the show itself.

Value: The series is worth rewatching since you might miss some important details about the story and the characters on the first run.

All in all, I like the anime. It really brings in the real life situations that adolescents make and is something that both adults and adolescent youths will appreciate.

Infinite Ryvius is an anime with a good premise, but was a little repetitive at times in terms of the story. There is plenty of drama and plenty of scifi flavor along with a good development of characters that unfortunately become quite predictable. While the feeling at times seems very morbid, the ending had a quite nostalgic aura to it that parallelled with the beginning.

Mugen no Ryvius is a tale about how the ugly side of human nature comes to play during isolation. The sci-fi background is just a setting for it and does not really contribute to the main plot. The story could be told in an ancient or modern setting and would not be affected. In fact, the sci-fi setting has its drawbacks as it puts forth some unnecessary weird concepts like harnassing an alien lifeform's power as the 'computer' of a spaceship. Although the anime made it seemed necessary as earth then was going to be devastated by some cosmic force, the idea just doesn't bode well in the end for me. However, other than that, it is still a relatively interesting watch.

On the surface, Infinite Ryvius appeared to be yet another shallow sci-fi/mecha series. But having read a lot of positive comments about it from highly credible people on this forum, I decided to give it a try. I have had the Chinese-subbed version for years and have not watched it. I recently bought the licensed English-subbed version at rock bottom prices (as I will explain later, this had an effect on the "value" score).

Overall, I felt this story was excellent. It was a good exercise in character study. I liked none of the characters, but on the whole, thei collective ugliness and interaction were what made this series so interesting to watch.

The character designs aren't too shabby, sound is pretty good too. But these are minor when compared to the story and character development which really made this series shine.

I feel this series should be on any fan's "to-watch" list.

An intense and excellent mix of drama, survival, politics, teenage angst, and the occasional mecha battles. Infinite Ryvius does not hold back when it comes to portraying all the cruel moments that could possibly happen when teenagers are left to fend for themselves. When thrown into a life threatening situation, with limited resources, no chance of escaping or landing, and being branded as terrorists, over 480 teenagers have to somehow live together. As the people stuck on the Ryvius start to panic over the future of their lives, betrayal and mistrust rampantly spread... causing trouble and destruction. Like the description says, despite the powerful defense system of the Ryvius, the ship starts to destroy itself from within. What will be the fate at the end? How will the students find salvation in the end? One of the most appealing aspects of watching Infinite Ryvius is that you never know what will happen next. All you can feel is the current here and now moment... you start to feel all the uncertainty that the rest of the ship feels, never knowing your own fate.

Our main characters are thrown this way and that way, at the whim of the powerful and able, as well as the mass strength of the less able. One of the most interesting parts of Infinite Ryvius are the character romance and interactions. No one gets along fully, despite the fact that various romances develop, different people always end up betraying for the sake of their own self interest. Infinite Ryvius is essentially a teen survival drama in space. There are many characteristics that share similar to the TV series Lost. If you enjoy Lost, you will most likely enjoy this series as well.

Even though I got extremely annoyed at many of the characters for being so overdramatic and one-sided in their thoughts, I felt that the overall atmosphere was quite realistic. All the uncertainty, unhappiness, explosive behavior, violence, bullying, jealousy, manipulation, and backstabbing felt so real and part of human nature at its worst. I kind of don't like the reason why they had the whole overdramatic between the brothers. (To show that one's ideals are better)The fact that the main character is so weak and acts as such a mediator is also pretty annoying, but is pretty effective in the end.
Either way, this anime is very unforgiving to its characters. Unlike many other animes which heavily favor one character in being super strong or liked... everyone in this series face their own difficulties and are really bullied around somehow or another. This makes the drama all the more intense...

Anyway, I was drawn into Infinite Ryvius from the start. Kids who hardly understood the world are all thrown together to battle it up for themselves. People start learning to fend for themselves at the sake of other people. Calm and crazy periods alternate to lead the viewer on an emotional roller coaster. A very intense drama from strat to finish leaving very little time for any breathing room. Furthermore, the ending really left a good feeling in the end as we know about the fate of a majority of the characters... and their subsequent outlook on life.

It's an utter travesity that this title isn't as popular or well known as it should be. I guess it'll go down in anime history as one of the really good series out there that nobody knew about.

If there's one thing I'm drawn to it's character driven stories and this one really takes it to the next level. I don't think I could think of many other titles that had characters so deep and multi-faceted as Infinite Ryvius. Most of them are so realistic that just about anyone watching this show can pick one or two characters out and say 'oh my god! That is soooo me!'. From the Mr. Spock like Heiger Stein who thrives on perfection to Lucson Houjou who thinks he knows it all but really doesn't, Ryvius has it all.

The overall story is pretty straight-forward with a number of interesting twists and turns particularly when overall power is shifted from one group of kids to another in their little coup de ta's and every one struggles to adjust to each change. This gives you a pretty accurate portrayal of what would happen if you were stranded somewhere with no adults around and kids run the show. What you get is complete anarchy and believe me it shows.

Don't let the fact that this is a sci-fi anime fool you. That's only the icing on the cake. While some of the sci-fi mumbo-jumbo puts Star Trek to shame at times, you can really over look that and just watch it for the characters and story if you're not into sci-fi. While I love sci-fi, I pretty much over-looked it in this one especially during the battle sequences. While they were good I asked myself on a number of occasions just what the hell was going on. The techno-babble was really the only major turn-off for me in this title. If you ever wanted to know what would happen if a few hundred kids were stranded somewhere with no adults around, this will probably give you a pretty good idea of what would happen. Oodles and oodles of teenage angst. What more could you possibly ask for? And Juli... She's just so...*drools*. She's the one on the upper right of the picture if you were wondering ^^.

First off- I want to say that this is one of my favorite animes, and for good reason.

It's too difficult to really give this anime an overall review, so I'm sticking to doing it by section

Infinite Ryvius definitely resembles the classical novel "Lord of the Flies" except that it's set in future and there are a lot more characters. While the idea may not be very original, this anime unquestionably has its distinct theme that is different from the novel and the overall character interactions are superb.

Animation: This anime has a high quality animation in the standards of 1999. The use of 3D during the battle scene and crisp character drawings (which was done by the same designer for Gundam Seed & Destiny) .

Sound: Sadly, this is where the anime suffers the most. Despite handling a very dark nature of human, the anime just doesn't have the fitting music for the atmosphere. However, the OP/ED was very unique and catchy, so I will give my score on those.

Story: The story is very deep and sophisticated. It deals with the end of the universe, but at the same time the relationship between people and their desire for freedom and power accentuates as the plot develops. This is one of the strongest point of the anime.
Character: There were so many characters in this anime with mental disorder or instability that I've lost count of them. To put it bluntly, the large cast of characters just killed the series because a lot of them were left undeveloped and still didn't solve their problems by the end of the anime. However, the main protagonist changes significantly and the smooth transition between his old and new personality works out perfectly.

Value: The psychological conflict between people usually intrigues me and since this anime heavily deals with that theme, I had given a high value.

Enjoyment: This anime isn't just a retelling of the novel "Lord of the Flies". It shares the similar theme, but various elements of the anime clearly distinguishes itself from the book. I enjoyed it very much and would definitely recommend this anime.

I’ve watched Infinite Ryvius twice now; 3 ½ years ago in Japanese and this month in English and I have to say the English language dub is my favourite version ^_^ I still can’t quite decided whether I really like this anime or not! The storyline is far too confusing and waiting for 24/25 episodes to actually understand why the hell it happened is just too long, as the path leading up to the explanation is long and frustrating. I can’t really even say the characters made up for the annoying storyline, because I disliked most of them (but especially the design of the characters). The one thing that kept me going was anger and annoyance and wanting to know IF everything turned out OK.
I think perhaps this anime was too much of a “thinky job” for my personal tastes and with the reference to the Lord of the Flies storyline, I think this may be more enjoyable for a male viewer.

Awe-inspiring - adj: inspiring awe or admiration or wonder; Ex: "Infinite Ryvius is an awe-inspiring anime."

If I could find a way to extract and bottle the various endorphins that were released into my bloodstream while watching this show, I'd make a killing from it. It'd might even make watching Saikano tolerable.

Seriously, I never thought I see an anime as textured and engrossing as Juuni Kokki again, but here it is: an epic space opera that puts even the venerable Crest/Banner of the Stars saga to shame.

Overall, Ryvius impressed me a great deal, though it did at times seem quite Evangelion in its terminology and characters.
