| This OVA has one fatal flaw... it lacks background story. If I hadn't seen the TV series first and read the first volume of the manga, I wouldn't have understood a thing. Maybe this was made for fans (meaning people that have already some knowledge of the story), but it doesn't make sense anyway... after all, this OVA tells a story most people won't understand.
So if you've never seen the TV series don't bother with this... Gravitation OVA can be seen as just another episode of the series. It can't be seen on it's own or it won't make any sense. Which is sad, considering this was made before the TV series. Not worth watching unless you're a real fan.

| Let me start off by saying, you should really read the manga books before watching this OVA, as anyone who hasn't, won't be very impressed with what is dished up in the Gravi OVA!
If on the other hand, you have read the manga books, you will appreciate this for what it is; a nice snippet of the story, but animated!
This OVA was made the year before the TV series (the dates on here are wrong for the TV, it should say 2000, not 1996!) and basically it was made purely for the true fans of the Gravi manga series, as the creators assume from the start that the viewer is familiar with the story (not the anime TV series!) and it mostly concentrates on the problems Shiucchi is having with Yuki ignoring him and writing a song for Nittle Grasper. It's based around the halfway mark in the manga series (vol 6 or 7).
For fans of the manga this is a perfect little OVA to watch. The music is wonderful and you get to hear Bad Luck sing Spicy Marmalade - what could be better ^_^
For fans of the TV series only, this may seem a little lacking in comparison.

| The Gravitation OVA disappointed me on a few levels; I thought that it was an an average series on the whole (I enjoyed certain parts of it), but compared to other OVA series, it doesn't match up as well. Like the TV series, it's strong point holds in the music, but as far as animation, story and character development, Gravitation OVA lags much behind it's predecessor. I reserve my recommendation to those who've seen the TV series, because I feel that audience will get the most out of it and really enjoy it. I rate the OVA as low as I do to allow for fair comparison. It doesn't have enough to hold on its own without the TV series.

| I first watched the Gravitation OVA before I watched the series, so I can say from personal experience that trying to watch the OVA before the series is pointless. You won't get anything out of it apart from one funny scene with "BDSM."
Although! Now that I have watched the series, and became an instant fan, I can say quite plainly that it is worth watching. As others have said before me, and most likely will say after me, it is not as good as the actual series. It is sort of like looking forward to a chocolate cake for dessert, and getting custard instead. Please forgive me those of you that like custard.
That doesn't mean it was unenjoyable though! I loved it and would watch it again. I don't know though, I guess I was expecting something that went more into the characters "hidden" feelings more then it did.
Now let's move on a bit so you can get a clear-er idea of what I thought. Animation: The clothing change was a bit hard to take. I miss Shuichi's older outfits. Yet his little get up in this OVA does have it's moments. The sound was as to be expected from anything Gravitation related, not far from perfect.
The story, as you may have gotten the impression from me already, was not in my favor. Yet even if I didn't LOVE the cute little plot, doesn't mean it was bad. In fact it was stragely fitting for Shuichi and Yuki. And since the characters are in fact the same as those in the TV series, I loved them. A few have even jumped up to a higher ranking in my book.
Overall, very nice. And extreamly funny! As was the Gravitation TV series. Perhaps it wasn't so much custard as it was strawberry ice cream, which although not as good as chocolate cake it's still pretty darn good.

| There aren't a lot of things I can say about the Gravitation OVA that haven't already been covered by my review of the original series. I'm not sure what possessed me to watch this considering I wasn't really wild about the original in the first place; I guess just for completion's sake, or to see if it was any better. This is, in all effect, totally interchangeable with any two of the episodes of the original series, except with some distinctly racier scenes and different music.
Gravitation's storylines have never exactly been inspired, and as I said before this just as easily have been incorporated into the main series. I wish it had been, since it's pretty unincredible as it stands and just feels like an excuse to milk the Gravi-fangirls for a little bit more of their cash. I'm not entirely sure what more I can say about Gravitation's characters that I haven't already discussed in the TV series review. I would, however, like to profess my undying love for Ryuichi. He owns. The funniest part of the OVA had to be when he snuck around inside his little speaker.
That brings me to another issue with Gravitation OVA, and that is that it concentrates so much more on its drama when its comedy is clearly stronger. In terms of usage, I'd have to say it's about 80% of the former, which is rather sad since Gravi's drama is trite and predictable (see the TV review). No, I wouldn't watch this OVA again, even though it took me around 40 minutes to complete; in addition, I would have trouble recommending this to anything less than the hardcore Gravitation fan. It's simply not worth spending money for.

| Can't stand on its own but is really enjoyable when you are a fan of the TV series and/or the manga. Once again... those who love shounen-ai: WATCH IT!! ^___^ that's where the OVA is better than the TV series... XD~~

| I watched this after the TV series. It has its moments, but it can't really stand by itself, which surprised me. OVA's should really always be exceptional (the TV series actually has better animation!), but oh well .
This is worth watching if you were a fan of the TV series, which I am.

| Although not nearly as good as the TV or manga series is, this OAV serves its purpose as an extra side-story to Gravitation. The sexual content goes beyond the TV series, and anyone who hasn't seen the TV/manga series is going to be very confused as to what's going on in this OAV. The soundtrack is excellent (just as the TV series'), and the animation is even better-quality. Anyone who wants more Gravitation must watch it, but if you're a novice to this series, catch up first.

| Ich bin von dieser OVA sehr enttäuscht, im Vergleich mit der gelungenen TV Serie nur ein Schatten selbiger. Nicht einmal der Soundtrack kommt dem der Serie von der Qualität her gleich und die Story ist lahm und gänzlich unattraktiv. Die Charaktere sind zwar zum größten Teil dieselben geblieben, haben mir aber nicht das Gefühl gegeben das ich in der Serie inne hatte. Das einzige was dem Standard von Gravitation TV treu geblieben ist ist die Comedy, einige Szenen sind sehr unterhaltend. Trotzdem ist dieses OVA in meinen Augen gänzlich überflüssig und nur etwas für die Hardcorefans von Gravitation.

Oh..um I wanted to add I was so~~ happy to see Yuki showing his feelings for Shuichi. In the 2nd OAV I was squealing~~ Now I like the song 'In The Moonlight' *squeal*

| the gravitation tv series was ace.
for some reason, they got all the characters wrong in the ova (particularly yuki, who just seemed to be a moody twat, rather than the coolist bishonen we know and love).
plus, the costumes had regressed into the 80s, and the performances reduced to the waggling of a single leg.
although the animation is technically better (ie. the characters have more reflections in their hair), much of the comedy of the series was absent due to the lack of movement...
i've just noticed that my review so far has been incredibly damning. the OVA is entertaining after watching the series, but as xaphiras says, pales in comparison.

| i really liked this 2 part ova. i watched the tv series first so i had a better appreciation of it. if you only watch these and not the tv series you will probably enjoy the eye candy but won't find it very interesting. the story is simple. yuki writes a love song for nittle grasper to perform behind shuichi's back. when shuichi finds out he's so devistated that his lover would do this to him that he goes back home. will shuichi recover from his slump and make up with yuki? this is a yaoi series, so if this is a turn off you may not want to watch, but like the tv series, it's not graphic. seeing yuki and shuichi lying together in bed is about as far as it goes.
the animation is VERY nice. it's better than the tv show, which is to be expected. this is an ova after all, so i assume it had a big budget.
the music, like the tv show is also very good. there were about 4 different songs which was a bonus.
if you like the tv show, then watch this. it's more of the same (incuding flashbacks to the tv show). if you haven't watched the tv show, watch it (it's very good) and then watch this. a series worth checking out even if yaoi isn't your thing.

| The Gravitation OAV is nowhere NEAR as good as the TV series, but it's still a nice watch. Buy it, re-watched it maybe once, and just sit back and enjoy the comical characters and goofy story. ^_^

A weakened story that dosent truly follow the TV series will dissapoint you right from the start. the animation used, although newer, seems like a downgrade from grav TV in my opinion. things seemed very ridgid.
On the sunny side all of the origonal characters are there and the music is just as good.
While not as good as i hoped for, Gravitation OVA gives extra substance to the end of the story. Worthwhile watching if you enjoyed Gravitation TV.

| Contrary to popular belief, the Gravitation OVA was made BEFORE the TV series. It's not nearly as good as the series, but that's forgivable. If you liked the TV series, at least give the OVA a try.

| I loved the series, but something was just missing. I didn't like how they kinda changed the whole feeling of the series, by making it more serious, and altering the animation. But, as always, Shuichi and Yuki are such a cute couple, so how can you not like this series, besides, there;s some great music in here too! ^^
