| A young man thrown off a building finds a fairy named Rane. Together they set off on a bunch of misadventures. They can't understand each other, but that doesn't stop them from going on. Supposedly this 2 episode OVA was a test for a full series, and didn't make it. That's a shame.

| Ok... I really didn't get much of this. In my opinion the story was totally crazy. Too fast-paced, too erm... wild, too weird. It was also very...unfinished.
The animation was ok, passable even. Like every other aspect in this short OVA it was not outstanding. In fact, everything about Elf Princess Rane screams "mediocre! mediocre!".
The same goes for the sound. Not very good music, but nice voices, that were not annoying (which is always a good thing, in my opinion).
Now the characters... were really pathetic. So pathetic they managed, strangely enough, to be funny. I actually laughed at them, and their crazyness.
Well, Elf Princess Rane's main goal, is to make people laugh, I believe. I mean, look at the story it's totally weird. The main character, Go, thinks he's on some treasure hunt and misreads all that happens around him. Much of what happens is not fully explained (like where did Rane came from, and stuff). They focused on the characters and their silly doings (because they are all silly, except, perhaps Rane).
So, I don't believe there is much point in watching Elf Princess Rane. Sure, it's so silly it's quite humurous sometimes, but it has no story, no decent characters and average sound and animation.

| A strange, quick paced, yet still funny and entertaining series. I didnt enjoy it as much as the people I watched it with, I could tell by their frequent bouts of laughter. Oh well, some people just get into laughing fits more easily I guess.
The animation, was old. And it was only fair for being old. However, one must consider expressions and look of the characters in the animation category, and both were hilarious. (Especially Takuma, the guy with the blue hair).
The sound was only fair. Some of them talked extremely fast, and one guy talked backwards (which took me most of the series to actually notice it was backwards). Overall, it was nothing impresssive.
The story was confusing for the most part... you got something about a treasure finder, something about an elf princess leading to the treasure, and an amusement park being built by the city. Overall it seemed sort of a mismash. Not only that, but there really wasnt any sort of ending (but, believe it or not, there was an explanation as to why there was no ending: WE NEED MORE MONEY).
Although the character designs were funny as heck to watch...most of the characters really werent developed in any sort of way. Mari was, maybe...a little. If the look of the characters sucked too, I certainly would lower the score significantly.
Overall, I probably would have no problem watching this again (especially since I didnt know what the heck Takuma was saying for the majority of the series. Also, it was pretty funny and you gotta dig that animation of him in the flowers). Enjoyable, but, certainly not deep or anything youre gonna want to buy or search for with all your effort.

| Ich muss sagen das mich Elf Princess Rane nicht im geringsten beeindruckt und noch weniger unterhalten hat. 2 Episoden mit nicht mehr als einem Gerüst von Story in denen alles drunter und drüber geht und deren Verlauf sich total zufällig und ohne Sinn darbietet. Die Comedy hat meinen Geschmack komplett verfehlt und kommt durchgängig mit dem Holzhammer. Die 3. Episode wurde nie produziert und angesichts dieses Debakels, das dieser Anime darstellt, ist es verständlich das nicht viele Leute noch mehr Geld zum Fenster rauswerfen wollten um die Produktion einer Fortsetzung zu finanzieren. Dieses OVA ist unterste Schublade und ich würde nicht mal Fanatikern von abgedrehtem Humor einen Blick empfehlen!

| Overall, this isnt too bad. It's just not something I enjoyed. Some of the jokes I thought were kinda stale. The only part I found amusing was the guy who spoke nonesense, singing in the flowers.
No value as a rewatch.

| Elf Princess Rane is one of those titles that is hard to explain unless you've experienced it first hand. The story starts of with the young treasure hunter Go who meets a naked miniature elf princess named Rane while falling a couple of hundred stories off a building with a Shinto shrine on top. Wackiness ensues, treasure is searched for. Not exactly your typical anime title. The big letdown with Rane is it's episode count. Clocking in at only 2 episodes the story stops in the middle, and with a high energy title like this, simply ending is not good. A fun title for those who can keep up with the subtitles, Rane is worth a look, though prepare for the premature ending that will leave you wishing for more.

| Very nice parody pharse OVAs. Watch this for good laughter. Similar with Excel Saga, taking into account its age.
