| Many bad reviews here, mostly because people were expecting more Ninja scroll. If watched from the standpoint of creativly filling in historical gaps then this is an entertaining series. It was cut short in production becuase of litigation from the Ninja Scroll camp. Thoes who are easly upset by religious interpetations, violence and sexual assult should stay clear... then again, its just a cartoon.

| This primarily focused on very dramatic battle scenes. I would relate this to a hollywood movie like Braveheart but not much in terms of character development. Just a lot of random fighting with swords and stuff.
Therefore, in something like this, the animation is important. Yet this is very unimpressive. Therefore, dont watch this... it won't give you anything good. Not even a feeling of excitement.

| The most shortest and unnecessary type of an anime series that shouldn‘t had been ever created, even for the cheapest thrill. Whether if this was a sequel to the movie or not, it was still bad. The story was just too weak and had the whole plot messed up with its repetitive and fast-paced action. Countless enough of ninja stars flying around, sword swinging and the blood spilling may have been only thing that is only focused as being good on this one. I really regretted renting this anime that just comes out of the blue, and into the depths with the loads of other anime that lies around and becomes thankfully forgotten.

| Want a Ninja Scroll sequel? Forget about looking here!
Ninja Resurrection is basically Ninja Scroll cut down into 2 episodes without the style or glamour that Ninja Scroll has. Without an actual story that doesn't end, it makes Ninja Scroll feel more appreciative.
Granted, if you wanted more demon-beasts/high violence/sex in it, im sure there are plenty of anime/hentais to do that for you.
Not gonna waste any more breath on this.. which shows how much i care about this anime...
Overall: 3/10

| This is actually a pretty good anime, had it been done correctly I'm sure alot of people would have liked it.
It touches on the subject of religion and the devil alot, the only bad thing is that it ends right when everything would have picked up. (IE-Satan being born)
Could have been great, if it had continued past the Hell spawn episode, but it's still a pretty good piece.
There is no ending though, so dont expect one.

| WOW!! Thats about all I can say when I saw the amount of bad reviews (Most of which aren't even worth reading) for this anime. I'll admit that I was dissapointed myself when I realized that this wasn't the sequel to Ninja Scroll. But I don't think that is a good reason to tarnish this OVA. Okay, it was incomplete and the fights were pretty gory, but aside from that, I found this to be pretty enjoyable, especially the music, which fits right into the whole thing. Yeah Yeah, the story sucked but what most people don't realize, is that Ninja Ressurection is based on Japanese history while Ninja Scroll is totally fictional. It may not be the best Martial Arts anime, but it deserves a better reputation than the one it already has. If I'm gonna advise people on which anime to stay away from, I'll advise them to stay away from the Ninja Scroll TV series and not this OVA, as I found Ninja Ressurection to be far more enjoyable than the Ninja Scroll TV series. Atleast give this OVA a chance.

| Another anime which promissed great things but just couldn't deliver . Only the fist two episodes were ever completed and it doesn't seem likely that we'll see any more than that . The movie is very dark and bloodie , unlike the more composed Ninja Scroll . Lots of headless bodies and bodiless heads , the anime it simply bathing in blood and death . And I guess that this is the main reason why it was nevwe completed - it simply lacs the balance required for a good anime .

| This anime is poorly animated filth. First, it's marketed as being somehow related to Ninja Scroll, which it is not. Second, I'm not all that religious (I didn't have a problem with Hellsing or Evangelion's pseudo-religious content) but the filmmaker's take on the Christian Faith seen here is warped and misinformed. Third, this is more of a slasher film than a fighting anime. It's basically (poorly designed) characters running around killing people for no apparent reason (including unarmed women and children). I have no problem with onscreen violence if it advances the story, is part of a FIGHT sequence between combatants, morally complicates characters(ie: berserk), or is an attempt to depict realistically the horrors of war, but the violence in this film is just violence for violence sake. I mean one of the samurai has a wooden rocket launcher in the Meiji Era, so this series isn't really grounded in realism. There aren't even any good fight scenes in this series. Fourth, the plot makes little or no sense, probably because it was supposed to be a 5 or 6 part, rather than two part ova series. I surmise the producers of this dreck realized how crappy it was and decided to never make anime again, midway through the series. At least that's what I hope.

Released in the late 90s, ADV mislead people into believing that this anime was related to Ninja Scroll. The only thing it has in common is that the main character is a ninja and thats all. None of the character and events have anything to do with Ninja Scroll.
The characters here are boring, the story is dumb and doesn't make much sense, and there isn't a lot of fighting scenes. Just a lot of lame talk. This anime should be tossed back into the pits of hell from wheres it came.

| <SIGH> I'm another one of those fools who were led to believe this had some relation to Ninja Scroll. Title is similar, plus a main character named Jubei. Word of warning, this is NOT Ninja Scroll. This is probably one of those incompleted anime who got cut short along the way because of overall crappiness. The 2 episodes of the show go nowhere. The plot is incoherent, and you have a hard enough time figuring out who is who in the show, since there is a lot of action combined with nonsensical stories like some dumb thing about Satan being reborn. Heck, if you're going to have no plot, just like Ninja Scroll, then at least have kick butt animation for the fights. This thing has mediocre animation, and you expect more from a OAV. One of the worst anime I've seen, and the belief this could at first be some Ninja Scroll sequel left me dispondent after watching it.

| What the hell were they thinking? This anime makes NO SENSE AT ALL. Steer clear, please. If you liked Ninja Scroll...you still won't like this. Don't bother with this crap, better off not watching it. Why?
1. The story makes no sense. There's 2 parts - and I'm not sure which one goes first, because THERE IS NO ENDING. In "The Revenge of Jubei", it ends with this "christ" lord turning into Satan, ending with heads of villagers on poles. In "Hell's Spawn", It seems COMPLETELY UNRELATED to the last one, because its like a completely different story. That one ends with four demons killing everything. It ends unresolved, with demons running rampant, leaving the viewer to think, "What the f*** just happened?"
2. This is nothing like Ninja scroll. It should not bear its trademark. The story, the sound, the animation, the character, and the quality of this movie are farrrrrr inferior to the first.
3. Just...Get away.

| Pretty crappy, really. The fact that it was cancelled after 2 episodes and thus the story never developed at ALL didn't help matters any.
NOTE: This is *NOT* a sequel to Ninja Scroll. It has nothing to do with that movie/TV show at all.

| Well, what did i expect? This is probably one the most lamest, preverted anime movie i ever seen. The makers of this thought, "If we throguh together nudity, blood, and violence, were bound to have a hit!" Well, don't let them trick you. The story leaves must to be desired and I am having a very hard time thinking of anything good about this...
[The fact I watched this dubbed did not help one bit either!]
