Natsu no Arashi is a 13 episode supernatural romantic comedy anime released in 2009. Its unique style in its audio and presentation does not deter one bit from its excellent quality, which is maintained in every episode throughout the anime.

The character designs in Natsu no Arashi is unique in both its style, as well as in its variety. A myriad of different designs can be seen in the anime, all of which fit surprisingly well together. There are countless cameo appearances in every episode, of both highly reputed anime from the past, as well as popular modern ones. This improves the entertainment value of the anime, especially to viewers familiar with the different anime referenced. There are also some moments of fan service, which add to the humour of the anime. Overall, the quality of the animation in Natsu no Arashi is high impressive.

The theme songs in Natsu no Arashi can be described as different compared to other anime, but are in my opinion not very good. The songs do not fit in with the general theme of the anime, and do not make much sense in general. The voice acting in Natsu no Arashi is top notch however, consisting of a cast of highly experienced voice actors and actresses. And although the background music will take a while to get used to, they fit in very well with the anime and are pleasant to listen to. If one does not mind the theme songs too much, Natsu no Arashi is a decent anime to listen to.

Natsu no Arashi has a very promising storyline, and the anime banks on that from the very first episode. The story of Natsu no Arashi is funny, romantic, well paced, and contains an impressive amount of plot twists. The anime also addresses several key moral and life related issues, and manages to portray them mostly in highly comical fashions. There isn't really a main storyline which stretches the entire length of the anime, but each episode is connected to the previous independently through events and references. Therefore, despite its 13 episode length, Natsu no Arashi has a storyline which is well worth checking out.

A successful anime always has an excellent cast of characters, and Natsu no Arashi is no different. Although all the main characters are featured in the first episode, the cast is gradually introduced over time. This results in some of the characters being significantly less well developed than others during the 13 episode run, although not to an extent that affects the anime in any bad way. The variety of characters and the expert voice acting means that Natsu no Arashi has a wonderful and believable cast, well worth checking out.

Natsu no Arashi is no doubt one of the gems of 2009. It is highly entertaining and very well presented. Its 13 episode length is not much of a disappointment, as the sequel was released later in the same year. Overall, I believe Natsu no Arashi to be an anime that is well worth checking out, and its sequel is turning out to have excellent production values as well.
