This is one of my favorite anime series, and I greatly look forward to reading the original source material (the manga) in the near future.

To start off the story of this anime was incredibly enjoyable. They mixed the science fiction elements perfectly with the magical elements. The horror aspects and character drama/relationships were also handled quite well.

The pacing may throw some off going for polt driven episodes for alittle while then throwing in a more character orientented episodes. The more complicated backstory related to this series, and Katsumi herself might get alittle confusing at times though.

The characters were greatly developed along the way and each one of the has a unquie backstory and current situation. The only character which I thought could have used more was Mana Isosaki. She really needed more screentime.

The animation was failry solid, although the tone of animation and style seems to shift from episode to episode. Going from more cel orientated animation, to more traditional hand drawn animation. It was somewhat distracting in the beginning, but overall not that big of a deal.

The CGI was alright as well. The action was great and the quiter character moments were a great contrast to eachother.

The voice acting was a real treat with no real stand out performances. They all did a great job of voicing the characters. The opening theme is one of the best songs I've ever heard. The ending theme sung in english was alright. The backgrounf music did a good job of setting the mood, while the english insert songs that play during one episode (episode 16) were incredibly annoying.

So despite some minor animation flaws, some insert songs in one episode, and the open ended/unfinished ending of this series are it's only real draw backs.

This series dilvers a powerful entry into the science fiction genre, with strong characters, a somewhat unquie story, overall good music, voice acting and animation, and alot of heart. It greatly impacted me and even made me cry from time to time.

Like, I stated at the beginning of this review this series is one of my all time favorites and shouldn't be missed.

If you enjoyed this TV series, you should also check out the two films that came before. They have recently been picked uo by Bandai entertainment. The manga is also another option, by Kia Asimiya and is available from VIZ.

The first episode was very boring and I thought I'd rate the series very low. I had also read the first manga volume and didnt like it either.

Then after the main characters are introduced and the plot develops, suddenly the series started to become attractive. Sure the animation was so-so, but it was effectively used. Only some recycled scenes here and there tested my patience but not so much as to characterize it as atrocious.

The music and sfx were also well used (especially during action) even if they werent so memorable. I admit though that the OP, even if it wasnt artistic, it was of the most addicting I watched, perfectly preparing the viewer's mood for each episode.

This anime really shows how to use poor animation, visuals and sound effectively.

Though the story was hardly original and is repeated countless times in other animes and even better (eg. GITS, Bubblegum Crisis) it adds an interesting twist by including characters with paranormal abilities (except Kiddy), thus appealing to fans of both sci-fi and supernatural. It is one of the few animes to merge those genres so effectively. The futuristic settings worked quite well and the Tokyo of 2023 is worth watching and I found it more easy to comprehend and more attractive than the settings of GITS. The story spends a lot of time in explaining the characters backgrounds and thats why it scores high in the character department, though as far as the whole plot goes it fails to give sufficient explanations. From what I read in the web, the manga has a different and better ending too, not as rushed as in the anime and much more fitting. Fortunately the anime doesnt fall as low as to introduce the ''Lucifer Hawk of the week'', though initially I thought otherwise.

The characters are what made me watch the anime till the end. Though some of the Lucifer Hawks had laughable voices and the lead characters made me laugh in supposedly serious moments, overall the anime shows how characters should be in an action/sci-fi series. Except the main character Katsumi Liquer (one of the funniest surnames) at least 1 episode is devoted to all the other characters background. Also the character interaction works well in a way reminding me of Vampire Miyu TV series, but this time also comedic elements are included. The characters (both male and female) are refreshing considering this is an action/sci-fi anime and are much better than some supposed romance animes I saw. I also liked how Rally participated in the council, being the only woman there. In the final episodes the conclusion of that council left me stunned and this was the best part of the story. Of the characters Yuki and Kiddy (much better character than Motoko of the more popular GITS) were instantly my favorites, while the two male characters Ralph and Robert were very good and funny too. The ''bad guys'' Rosa and Maximilian and later on another main character, werent that well developed and too stereotypical. But fortunately all the others (including some Lucifer Hawks) were that good to counter that problem.
As some reviewer said, the characters here arent the typical 15 year old kids seen in so many animes today and attracting a large fan base, but are mature and are acting mature most of the time.

I'd recommend watching the series for the entertainment and the excellent characters. If animation and sound are an issue, better look for something else.
But if you liked Vampire Miyu OVA and TV there's a high chance you'll also like Silent Moebius. Even if you've read the manga the anime is worth giving a look for the voice actresses alone.

This is one of the few serious and action packed animes that I enjoyed. At first, I was reluctant to watch this but I'm glad that I did give it a try.

When I first found out about the plot, a group of women police called AMP trying to prevent alien invasion of the so called lucifer hawk, I thought that this is uninteresting. Alliens trying to invade earth is a story we've heard a thousand times before but as the story starts to unravel, it got more and more interesting and you'll be surprised by a sudden turn of events near the end. I never thought that it would happen but given the fact that the main character Katsumi is not a pure human, we can say that it will only take some time before she shares the same fate as Darth Vader of Star Wars. In the first few episodes, it was really boring and its hard not to doze off to neverland, but it started to take off after episode 3, I think. I can say that the pacing is perfect, not too fast and not too slow, having just a 26 episode is just exact. There are some episodes that are not quite related to the next or the previous but it helped character development so its not a waste.

They did a pretty nice job in introducing the main characters, each has her own background and so no one is left behind or forgotten, and all of them has different reasons on why they joined AMP, and theres also a nice interaction. What I hate about the charcters is that their names sound akward.

I did enjoy watching this, it has a nice combination of action, suspense, love story, and a bit of comedy. Recommended to all especially to those who like alien invasion stories.

Well, needless to say, this is my favourite anime series. I dont think there is nothing better. The characters interact in a complex way that clarifies much of the storyline and those first episodes dedicated to each one of the members of AMP (watch it and u know what I'm talking about) are just perfect.
There is magic involved, deep dark secrets to discover and you are left in a terrible suspense until the very last episode which is the most frustrating of them all and the only one that disappointed me because, first of all, they should learn that English translations of Japanese music is NEVER a good thing, and second, u dont have the feeling that that's it. It looks more like the begining than the end. Maybe we can see Katsumi's son/ daughter in a near future (please!!!!:D) fighting against those Lucifer Hawks.
I dont advice people to watch it unless they are, 1st, 13 ou 14 years old because you are bound to not follow the story. and 2nd, if you dont intend to see it every single day because otherwise you will just lose yourself in the middle. Every single episode opens a new perspective on Katsumi's life and reveals another piece of the story which will only be revealed in the very end.

Oh, and by the way, if you like magic formulas and mysterious music, this series is definitely for you. U may not get the confused relationships (like hidden lesbos desires) u can get in Eva for example, but you have really good (str8) romance.
You also get comedy (mainly the episode when Katsumi is looking for an house.. I cant rememebr the name :P) ..
but dont trust me, WATCH IT!

I really enjoyed watching this anime, although I did get a little confused with certain events. I couldn't figure out whether I missed something in the plot or if it was actual plotholes in the storyline. Anyway, as humans v. aliens sci-fis go, this one was actually pretty good and reminded me a little of Bubblegum Crisis and Evangelion ^_^

The boxset was cheap. I bought it even though I wasn't too sure of the series after reading few comments and looking at some screen captures. But I remembered reading a couple of volumes of the manga some years back and I remembered it had some hot images of Lebia.

Well, it's a tv anime so there wasn't so hot images of Lebia on the dvds. But the series didn't disappoint me either. The story starts out traditionally for scifi: humans meddle with forces beyond their control and cause a great catasthrophe thus starting the events leading to the main story.

The series continues traditionally too: first there is some clashes between the new wonder kid and the rest of the team, then we get a closer look of team members. The characters are the best part of Möbius. The stories behind them are pretty interesting and there are some surprises in store for the viewer. As a group AMP members are varied and there is some nice interaction between Katsumi and Kiddy. Nami and especially Yuki were left a bit on the background mostly because their roles weren't that action oriented. But they got a good treatment on their own episodes. Too bad Lebia was left as a wall rose with a rather bland episode that told very little of her.

Outside the main group the leader of AMP, Rally, is portrayed nicely with her sister. Isozaki is left in the dark like Lebia. Other thing raising Katsumi and Kiddy in the spotlight is of course their boyfriends who as police officers are many times involved with the cases AMP are exploring. Roy and Ralph themselves are mostly constricted to the role of romantical interest but they keep the story interesting and kick off some major events.

The story is rather weird. It doesn't flow quite smoothly as there are a lot of these individual character-episodes and between them the big plot moves slowly forward. The split between these two types of episode felt somewhat artificial. There's also the fact that the story isn't too original and most of turns of the plot are clear before they happen. But the biggest problem is that the story doesn't actually end. I suppose I have to get the final volume of manga to see what happens. Probably because of this a lot of what happened in the past is left unclear. It gave me a rather frustrating feeling after the last episode as I was dying to know how the bad guy got to be the bad guy and what Katsumi's father really did back then. Or the story behind Lucifer Hawks and their motives.

Animation looks ok if one thinks it from 1998. Colors are vivid and movement reasonably smooth. Character designs may seem odd at first but I liked them anyway. Lucifer Hawks look sometimes good, sometimes bad. There isn't any pattern to them, some of them just work and others don't. The music... it's mostly either unnoticeable or annoying. There are some really unappealing vocal songs (including the second ending song). Same problem with some of the voice actors: Isozaki drove me mad, Katsumi was rather annoying and a whole bunch of them just didn't feel right.

One more thing I'd like to point out that there is humor in the series but it feels very forced. It left me with a uncomfortable feeling as I noticed that, hey that's fun, but didn't feel any amusement. Silent Möbius is a moderate scifi adventure. The story offers nothing new and is incomplete but the characters are interesting enough to make it worth following. Watch with caution.

Well, this anime looks/sounds/feels like it came right out of the 80's. And if it did come right out of the 80's I might actually cut it some slack. But, it came out in '98 and it certainly was a love-driven story with some of the worst music I've heard in an anime.

All that aside, I at least enjoyed watching it. The storyline is decent and the characters have their cute little quirks. It's probably worth a watch if you like sappy stuff or are into the particular genre.

Another one of those science fiction animes with aliens, lots of females, lots of jargon that doesnt seem to matter, a lot of paranormal things that aren't really interesting to begin with.

However, a lot of science fictions that I've seen have at least decent animation. In this anime, the animation is really.. how do you put it.. colorful? for an alien anime of this nature. They don't use very good shades, it is just like.. blue. red. .orange.. green. if you know what i mean. (well im overexaggerating but its the general idea)

I feel no passion in the characters behaviors. It is so cliche... fear, panic, uncertainty. So many characters, yet they are so flat. The relations are flat.

As for the story, I think this is the better part. They do have some great points and dramatic tensions, but too bad they don't develop well enough. Interesting mix of magic/aliens/paranormal stuff, could have been better but i guess anime of this nature is always limited when aliens are involves.

Overall, i think the weakness is the basis of this story. You can only go so far with invading aliens from another dimension, no matter their origins or connections with the main character. Especially when you try to create this fantasy world, a lot of effort is spent in describing certain aspects that ultimately lead other parts to be left out. Not very interesting. A lot of scenes that happen don't really seem to further the story or character interactions. The animation and sound are important aspects in sci-fi anime, and this anime does a poor job of this.

Just too flat and unengaging.

The only thing that really stands out here are the characters. They are quite brilliantly portrayed, one of the best series for character development if you are really into that sort of thing.

The sound quality (dubbed version) is rather atrocious. Neither opening nor ending theme worked well for me.

The story is rather incomplete and has a few false steps along the way.

Watch for the characters if you must but overall not a big deal if you miss this series.

I loved this anime! At first I was like eh whatever another sci fi anime, but I ended up getting addicted to it! I thought it had great characters and a unique story. Of course, I probably liked it because I'm a girl. I don't see it being an anime for guys, but hey you never know. It reminded me of a soap opera. It made me cry so many times! It kept me on my seat, the battle between Katsumi and her sister was pretty thrilling, this show was always shocking and surprising me. Defintely not a predictable show! The ending was also very sweet...:) Yeah, if you're a guy you might not like this anime lol But girls who like sci fi and romance will love this anime.

K I was surprised after watching this anime... I wasn't expecting anything from it really! But I was surprised... basically it's about an all gal team that kick well monsters from another dimension place (sry been a while since I watched this... and I just wanted to write a review)... I really liked all the characters, they all developed well throughout the story (the only dissapointment in my opinion was the main character Kasumi).... the story is interesting... kinda basic but fun! The Lucifier Hawks" got on my nerves... anywayz as a whole I was surpised and I managed to enjoy this anime beyong my expectations... oh and I REALLY like the intro theme

Silent Mobius is an o.k. Sci-Fi/action police show. The story with the "Lucfer Hawks" as the enemies was pretty stupid however. I found Katsumi's power somewhat interesting untill I found out its source. You will see if you watch. If you would like to know more read my review.

Nice anime. It has enough action, paranormal ocurrences and drama to keep you interested.

The plot, while with some original touches,is not that unusual.

The animation is bad. Well, not bad, bad, as in 'horrible! Ah, can't look, it hurts my eyes', but it's not that good either. Maybe average, bordering on bad? huh, don't know exactly.

Sound... well, I like the opening theme, but I don't like the ending theme. Voices are ok. So sound... ok enough I guess.

Finally the characters. Some information about them, yes, some development, nothing special. None of them is terribly annoying, so the characters are ok too.

Well, I think that if one has the chance of watching this, nothing wrong with doing it.

Probably one of my favorite, although not the most technically advanced, mature sci-fi series around. If you've seen the Silent Mobius movies already there will be a lot of things you'll recognize from the get-go, however, there are many differences as SM TV stays very true to the manga (coveres about 11.5 of the 12 volumes).

The sound, story, characters, and atmosphere are all well intact, although the animation isnt as nice as either of the movies. The changes from digital animation and cells are pretty obvious and are more of an eyesore then anything else. There's a fair ammount of wishy-washy CG used in the end too.

SM TV offers us almost all of the manga story in 650 minutes or so, vs. the 100 combined running time of the movies. When you look at them side by side they don't tell exactly the same story. Characters are brought in at different times, certain events happen differently, etc. TV follows the manga almost to the 'T' while the movies play off as an alternative-universe type story. Both are great and well worth your time.

One of my favorite animes. It's not so much due to the storyline, but because of the characters and how they interact with each other. The music is beautiful and fits the settings very well. The animation is nice. This is another anime that should be on every sci-fi lover's list.

Nothing amazing, but good and entertaining and in the end this is all that counts. Nearly every character is focussed individually and there's much variety in the plot, although it seems overloaded sometimes. The end is left open, but this is nothing rare.
