| Have seen up to 7 episodes this far (shinsen-sub).
This anime starts slowly and annoyingly without explaining much. Therefore one gets the impression, that there will be nothing more to it. But after four episodes it is clear, what starts slowly can take the time to develop. So the viewer is told a bit here and there about the story, which they somehow managed to put in during fighting.
So what is this anime about? Imagine a world, where everything is foretold, and literally written in stone. And we have to opposing kingdoms Kimlasca and Malkuth and one big church, taking care of the prophesis of Yulia Ju, who read the worlds history in the score of Lorelei using Fonons. (They manage to make fun of the standard model of particle physics, but I doubt, they know it.) These fonons, seven different ones there are, can be use to fight, resonate, and obviously used to transfer information.
Along comes Luke, nephew of the king of Kimlasca, having an ability to use fonons he is yet unaware of (really?). We get the princess, his fiance, then fonon master Ion (head of church), who gets abducted twice in the seven episodes so far, and a bunch of loving friends. But all is not well, as Luke and an intruder, trying to kill his sword teacher and headprotector of Fonon master Ion, are transported to the other side of the border. We learn, that Luke was abducted as a little kid, and the intruder was actually the sister of his sword master.
While at this stage, the story is rather boring, it picks up after a while - finally- when the makers of the anime reveal that they have a bigger discussion about the world the story is set in in mind. What happens, if really everything is foretold, but you just happen to miss an important peace of the prophecy? Do you have to do what a b***y stone tells you? Which one of the siblings is at the right side? Is Luke really the hero to bring peace?
And why the hell is everybody after the Fonon master? Well, things are not what they seem.
The animation is fluid, well done, and the CGI fit in well. The character design is also noteworthy, each and every person gets his own "colour" and unique personality. But up to now, there is not much development in personality yet.
The story has potential, the makers leave you to imagine/guess most background parts of it, which are only hinted. Sometimes it appears a bit forced.
E.g. After Luke was abducted as a little kid, he wasn't let outside of the familys manson. When he comes back from his involuntary trip to Malkuth, he gets send off to this foreign land at that very minute again.
Or when he learns who abducted him, I would have reacted differently!!!
The music is fine/average, but there is one track I personally found annoying, which is surprising, as I normally don't notice it at all.
Conclusion: I hope the hints which are given about the different persons appearing in this story are correct, and the story will pick them up. Then it might become a good anime, well worth the watch. If they do not, I doubt that the animation alone can justify this piece of mild strangeness.
Anyway give it a try. At least there is one cool person in it (and I don't mean Luke).
