| The first few episodes of the anime were alright, at least they were a bit funny without too much forced humour ( "WE HAD THIS COOL CHARACTER PULL A FUNNY FACE NOW YOU MUST LAUGH LIKE THE BRAINLESS OTAKU YOU ARE" ). However, Ciel ( the angsty runt in the picture ) should start to get on viewer's nerves from the get-go. The brooding pedobear-bait character has been done entirely too many times.
After you get past the introduction episodes and get to some more deeper story, one realizes this anime seems to really have no other purpouse then to be fanservice to angsty teens.
I'm sure it sells to those people but it's not very deep nor interesting. The characters are extremely shallow and clichéd. It's selling point is the admittedly beautiful artwork but that's just about it.
If pointless shota-tease and clichéd spiritualism with gothic atmosphere is your thing, I'm sure you'll give this anime 10/10. However if you actually want some point or story to an anime, this probaply isn't your cup of tea.
If you're ill and don't want to use any brainpower, you may be able to watch the series and promptly forget all about it the next day.

| I've seen 4 episodes so far, and I can tell you, this show is a weird mix of everything. There is the cute young lord with dark past, who keeps getting thrown into funny/strange/fanservice(?) situations, there is his butler from hell, helping him out, obviously in fact being a demon bound by a contract. We get the four other servants of the household, who seemed to be there only for lame jokes. And there are the loyal relatives with shady backgrounds, too. Surprise the whole family, headed by the twelve year old does the dirty work for the queen, as the show is put into England around 1888.
The show could have been horror, if it relied more on the demonic aspect of the butler and the situations the Phantomhive lord has to face. It could have been a comedy, if the supporting characters strange traits would have been more worked out. So the most weak point of the show is, that it can't decide.
The animation is mostly done very well, but lacks somewhat in scences with many people. Up to now, there is no character development to be hinted anywhere. Music is fine, doesn't get noticed much. Characters are a bit lacking, there seems to be a background story for the main characters. Could get better.
This is a show if you haven't found anything better (and there is). It keeps the watcher entertained, and this is its strong point.
