| I am not very experienced when it comes to reading manga, in fact, this is my very first one reading =) but i just got soooo addicted to it! The plot is soooo unique and makes it very interesting to read. Anything else I would probably fall asleep half-way through.

| Gantz is the most brutal most insane and coolest story ever created.

let's talk a bit more serious here.
Gantz, A series about a guy called Kurono Kei, Kei is a very fucked up kid, who only cares about himself.
However that soon changes, as he get's runover by a train. Dead? no, he get's resurrected by a mysterious force. He get's a new purpose in life, in wich he can earn his life back. If he earns 100 points, he can get his old life back, however the main problem is, to get points, you need to kill aliens, every alien is worth a given amount of points. Not only the number of aliens you kill gives you points, but style is also a good way of getting points. getting 100 points is insanely hard and only the fearless can get them. Kurono Kei, is the most fearless out there.
this story has the most plottwists ever in a manga. you don't see a single of em coming. It is truly amazing. Do not watch this if you can't bear watching the leading male get tortured to death by emotions and pain, for most of the series. If you are prepared, you are in for one rollercoaster ride

| At first i thought the character design sucked, but the more i watched it the better it got imo.
And now it's one of my favorite mangas. ^^

| Superb! Definitely the best manga I have ever read. It deserves nothing less than full marks. It got me staying up pretty much all week just to get caught up.

| Absolutely brilliant! Gantz has it all: 'a cool main character, lots of naked girls and the more than necessary blood:D
Its twists are equal to those of death note or old boy. The humor though lacking is funny.
The action and quality is superb!

| More enjoyable than the anime of the same name, GantZ the manga is a gory and nudity-filled tale of a man named Kurono's life after his own death.
The design is very well done and seamless. Character designs are unique and realistic looking, backgrounds are detailed and also realistic. The aliens are interesting to see and very original in their designs. Also, the fight scenes are fluid and exciting to read through.
The story is extremely original; I have never seen a story of its kind before, and the guts that the author has to repeatedly kill off so many characters (many of whom are given a lot of "screen" time before being killed off) makes this manga even more interesting. You never know what is going to happen next: unlike most stories, even the main characters or established characters are not safe from the danger of the missions; it makes reading the action scenes all the more thrilling and unpredictable.
The manga is not complete (as of chapter 237 it has been announced that there will be a "2nd Phase" to follow in a few months) but the story so far is still very intriguing. It will be interesting to see what happens with the "vampires" and the GantZ team.
The characters are all very well developed; while background is given extensively the many of the characters, their personalities and immediate backgrounds are given before they enter the GantZ room and it is easy to develop emotions, whether positive or negative, towards them. Kurono's development is especially interesting to see as he grows and matures over the course of the manga.
This manga is easily re-read and the exstensive action scenes lend themselves to re-reading. One of the best mangas I have ever read, on par with Berserk; GantZ is a manga I would reccomend to anyone interested in Sci-Fi/Action genres.

| This manga is a little bit senseless but very enjoyable.
After reading 20 Volumes i still want more of this disturbing yet still funny manga.
I can recommend this but only for mature readers.
The artwork is completely PC-made and that makes it very detailed and stunning.
The story starts interesting but gets unimportant in the end.Main aspect are the fights and they are pretty cool.
A lot of people die here and unfortunately many cool characters.Value is rather low.
Have fun with GANTZ.

| 2 years back, my otaku senpai told me this was a lousy manga. So I never bothered trying this manga out.
Finally after running out of anime and manga to read and watch I finally tried this manga out.
Result: OMG!!!!!!!!!! WHAT HAVE I BEEN MISSING!!!!!
For the Genre: Mature, Gore, Nudity, Action
Rating: 10/10
For this category, Berserk use to be the No.1 manga, now it got bumped to No.2.
Mind you, I am weak hearted and I hate gory manga/anime. Just that Guts was SOOO Heroic that it overcame my fear of gore. (I easily get nightmares and faint when see blood, I could not even stand watching Helsing... but Guts..., more more Berserk pls! )
Now, Kurono Kei has also join my List of Heroes. I have been reading volume 12 until 18 over and over for the past few days! From the 5th mission (Jurassic)...
"I AM IMMORTAL!!!!!" Yes.
Conclusion: Only touch this is you are not weak hearted. ( If you are weak hearted like me, then hope you are looking for NOT PERFECT HERO who really shine when in Deep Trouble! )
Or not stick to not so gory heroes like:
Naruto, Kira Yamato, Kenshin Himura

| (After reaching chapter 236, thanks to the great effort of all the scanlation groups that worked on this overrated title)
Gantz couldnt escape my attention. I had to read it or watch the anime. Everyone was saying how great and violent this title was. Well, not so violent like the Koroshiya Ichi manga, but violent and funny nevertheless. Indeed it was. I've read 21 volumes in 2 days without problems of boredom.
If the manga supposedly is better than the anime, I wont have to watch the anime and I perfectly undestand the majority of reviewers who thrash the anime.
But after reading the manga I have to say that not a single volume is worth purchasing and I'm glad I read the scanlations only.
If you want your daily dose of splatter, gore and soft porn, then Gantz is for you.
If you want a non-existant story that is extended without reason, even though it should have ended after volume 20, then the manga is for you. If you want crappy characters -in fact Gantz has one of the worst and most idiotic characterizations I've read- then the manga is for you.
I like splatter and violence too, but up to a certain point. The chapters where there's action involved and they have to slaughter various monsters are good and the final confrontation much later in the manga is memorable. But the chapters outside the Gantz (except the shooting massacre) are mediocre to boring. Not only that but the vampire arc starts, involving Kei's brother, that doesnt look so exciting till now. The splatter and battle scenes are repeated in every hunt and I liked only the first 3 hunts. So the violence factor that could salvage the manga runs out quickly.
As for the characters it seems the mangaka doesnt focus on them that much except of course in drawing girls with huge tits and also funny aliens. Too bad because the design is good and it could have roused some feelings. But not with such terrible characters.
Overall for me the Gantz manga is overrated. The first volumes are interesting and original but after that it fades and doesnt offer anything new. It seems Gantz is so popular that another unneeded arc is unfolding. I'm not interested in that title anymore. I know what Gantz is about now. Also a second anime season is on its way. I'll pass that too.
While I was reading Gantz also chapters 31 and 32 of the manga Bokurano (by Narutaru mangaka Mohiro Kitou) were scanlated. Reading those two chapters impressed me much more than the 20 volumes of Gantz. Both share some similarities in story except that Bokurano has much better characters and plot. Same could be said of Narutaru manga. I'd recommend these two over Gantz anytime.

| Gantz is great in all aspects. Don't be fooled by the crappy anime version of this marvelous manga. First off, to those entirely unfamiliar with Gantz, it is extremely gory and violent with nudity and sex on the side.
Despite the prevalence of all this violence, I found Gantz to be surprisingly mild (and not dark at all). In its most basic essence, it is a manga about survival. Even though the characters remain in Tokyo, the world they live in is entirely transformed after they are given a second chance in life. In order to survive, they must somehow manage to use whatever resources they have to capture these aliens. However, aside from these questionable foes, the majority of the mystery factor belongs with the other dead people who are given a second chance. For the most part, many of these people are hysterical and do not accept their death nor the situation that they are put in and for the most part they end up dying. However, a group of people end up working together and somehow they manage to survive... for some time. The things get all twisted as Kei (the main character) tries to figure out exactly what Gantz is and on the way meets new people on his journey as he tries to regain all the loved ones he lost.
I must admit, for the majority of the time, the villains (aliens that the people have to destroy) are really lame. In the beginning, they're mindless aliens who ended up on Earth for some weird reason and they have some basic characteristics that can be summarized in one line. However, as the storyline progresses, I felt that despite the whole sci-fi feel to this manga, that what Kei undergoes is extremely realistic. In terms of a battle of survival, the emotions that are passed make the storyline feel genuinely possible.
Despite the overall simplicity of Gantz's storyline, I give high rating to the storyline mainly because it is very original. I never know what turn of events will happen next. Never. It has a flavor of Battle Royale to it, too.
However, more importantly, Gantz introduces a bunch of awesome new characters through each chapter. So many people end up dying but the ones that survive seem to shine in some way. The fact that Kei manages to get people to work together (after an enormous personality turnover due to some traumatic events that happen to him during the whole Gantz task) is pretty amazing considering what these people go through. Furthermore, the more recent chapters ~200 involve the presence of more human like villains who are like vampires or something, but more bad ass.
Anyway, Gantz is something I would definitely recommend for the more mature audience. Most of all, it is fun to read and to be involved with each character. You never know who the next one to die will be.

| Somewhere in Tokyo, there is a room. In that room is a black sphere. Periodically, people who should otherwise have died are transferred to the room. There, the sphere gives them special suits and weapons, and sends them out on a mission to kill aliens here on Earth. While these missions take place, the rest of the world is largely oblivious to them. These missions are lethal - few participants survive them. The sphere calls the shots, and it's not the slightest bit nice. It's name... Gantz.
