| World Destruction tells a story located in a very unusual environment; this planet is inhabited by humans and beast-man (witch are more of less creatures able to talk, move, and act like normal humans). This globe is also filled by sand oceans (they seem like a water oceans on Earth but there is no water, there is sand).
The main story resolves around human and beast-man conflict. It appears that at the time of the series action it is the beast-man race that dictates and rules the planet. In the middle of this appears Kirie living a peaceful live - acting like a beast-man (with self-made animal ears), trying to earn money. His live makes an unpredicted turn the moment he encounters Morte - a member of the "World Destruction Committee". She carries the very essence of the committee - the Destruction code that is believed to be able to destroy the world.
The problem is that the code is activated for a short time by Kirie himself.
This series is an adaptation of a game under the same title, developed by SEGA for Nintendo DS.
My first impression of this series was really good, what we have hear is a group of nice and original ideas filled with interesting heroes. Well my expectations were high but I have them all the time.
Looking at the staff - I don't know much about them. The director Tada Shunsuke (多田 俊介) coanimated one series, but the airing was done by TV Tokyo - so it is a good omen.
Animation is well done, the lines of the characters and background fit one to another, the colours may seem like a little overused but no problem with that. Proportions of the characters are done well, there is no unusual moves or lines. The pace of moves in battle animation may seem a little strange at the beginning but it is a matter of time to get use to it.
Sound is a little thing I was disappointed in. The music was nothing energetic and not very flexible. The OP and END theme make it to my head, but that is all... The voice acting on the other hand was good. There are a lot of people with talent giving voices to this series: Yoshino Hiroyuki (known for voice in Vandread and Tytania), Furuya Toru (giving voice in Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball) and Sakamoto Maaya (titles like: .hack//Legend of Twilight Bracelet, Birdy the Mighty DECODE, Escaflowne - The Movie, Kanon, Kanon 2006, Rahxephon and even Tsubasa Chronicle).
But! The main thing is the story. It is the field I value the moust. The ideas used hear are original. The main heroes are the "bad ones" they want to destroy the world. Especially Morte. Plus their is no real motive other than escaping from foes. The thing is I was not bores with it essentially because of the little number of episodes. And the end was a good one, well I was not aware of the outcome. Most of the series are episodes that give you some knowledge of the background but not enough to make seance - untile the last ones.
Characters evolve slowly it may be boring to some people but in my opinion it is not as tragic at it may seem. The main problem is Kirie. Unlike Morte that is focused on her goal, he is a free soul not very energetic and not motivated to anything, but at the end you will like him. He is the main hero and a person critical to every ones ambitions.
I haven't mentioned that to fight the World Destruction Committee another group was formed named - World Salvation Committee. The pair leading the operation against Morte and her friends, are Naja and Lia. They are a good counter with logical thinking Naja and a dragon girl with emotional problems - Lia.
I must also mention Topi. Little, chibi bear is the comical person taking more of the humour on himself. His story is also an interesting plot and in the end it is funny how a hero of his league falls in the company of Morte and Kirie, as a member of the World Destruction Committee.
I value the series not as a masterpiece and not as a very important one in the development in the anime history, but it is a good anime, much better than some titles you may see after this year. It is true that some parts may have been done better, some are a minus to the overlook of the series but considering the originality of the story and the way it was presented I thing I may overvalue it a little bit.
I enjoyed watching this series. It is a quite nice story from the beginning to the end - and the end is what makes it worth the time spended watching.

| World destruction is an anime about a girl, Morte, who wish to destroy the world. In order to do this, she has come to possess the legendary item known as the "Destruct Code", the only problem being that she has no idea on how to actually use it. Through a chance encounter in a resturante she teams up with Kyrie, a young man working there. Later on she is joined by Toppi, a beastman chibi-bear, and they set out together.
Storywise, this anime is very weak. From the get-go, everybody is apparantly presumed to know what kind of world it is, the political situation and why somebody would like to destroy it. While these things are explained and clarified in the last few episodes, it seems the journey to get there is just a plain waste of time. The characters dont really evolve in any way until the very last episode, nor is there much suspense involved once the story actually gets there.
Speaking of the characters, it seems the studio forgot to add any respectable depth to any of them, but particulary to the lead. Morte is about as unsympathetic as a lead character can get, overflowing with her one-dimensional world-destruction plan and tough-girl attitude, as if she chewed carpet for breakfast and left her wits and rational thinking at the door. Its only thanks to the support characters, that actually brings some well-needed humour and common sense into the mix, that you can find motivation to continue to watch. The sound wasnt anything inspiring, but then again didnt annoy me either, and the animation style is typical high quality that is the norm today.
In summary, this anime has alot to speak against it and not much to speak for it. Its hard to see any point where it excels above any others because essentially nothing much at all happens until the very last few episodes, and once things _does_ happen then most of it is uninspiringly predictable.
I cant really recommend this anime as anything but a timewaster or background play. Nothing about it is terrible, but then again not much is good either. There are worse animes out there, for sure, but if you are looking for something with some character depth or interesting storyline you're better off looking elsewhere. However, if all you want is some mindless mini-adventures in a fantasy world, i suppose you could give it a whirl.
To sum it all up in a single word: "Meh..."

| World Destructin is about a group of two humans and one beastman who travel through a fantasy world. The lead character is Morte, a girl who lost her brother recently. She wants to destroy the world with a destruction code which her brother came in posession right before he died. On her way she meets Kirie. He is neither strong nor very smart, he is just the typical fool guy in todays anime. The party of three is completed with a chibi-bear. Thats how he names himself. He is somehow cute and is a sure catch for merchandsing though he only lives to give some fillers.
The story sounds predictable and until episode 11 it goes the usual way. But dont be too upset in the beginning and keep on watching because World Destruction has something unexpected waiting for you. Like most people, i rarely like an ending of an anime and i always think that something could have been better. But with World Destruction i was really satisfied. There is just nothing to complain. A sudden twist, sad and somehow touching moments and a story that is thought until the end make it an exciting show.
The beginning of World Destruction is very childish. Fillers over fillers and you hardly get to know a lot about the characters. It´s all about random stuff like meeting each other, then being attacked by some enemies and the episode ends. But like i said above the end is really cool and surprising.
For the characters i cant say that i loved them. They were all well done with nothing out of the ordinary. Kirie looks like the typical nice guy character and you might think that you have seen him before. Morte is the kick-ass-girl which is easily angered and seems to play the lead role until the end.
The last of them is the kuma-bear. There might be some people who dislike characters saying just one word or ending sentences with a special word. But i think that it is cute in a way. I liked Lucy in Elfen Lied and i even enjoyed the robot girl in Chobits. Anyway Kuma is not really important for the story and he is just in the group to show that everyone is the same. May it be a beastman or a human!!!
For the sound i dont have much words. The opener was less than good. The voice acting didnt leave an impression on me and i dont really remeber any trademark music.
Overall Wolrd Destruction is an average anime that comes up with something new in the end. But the whole 13 eps consist of 11 fillers which are neither interesting nor boring. They are just there to get to know the people involved better and that is what makes it average and not good. Feel free to watch World Destruction if you liked watching series like: Star Ocean Ex or Slayers. They are very alike, especially the characters.
