| I watched the TV serie when I was a kid in France (Capitaine Flam) and have recollections of a very enjoyable anime that was the subject of discussion at school.
I bought the full DVD Set for 20 Euros and watched it more recently with much pleasure. I was close to be hooked as I watched the 13 stories (4 eps each) nearly in a row.
Animation : very poor. Looks like a PPT presentation sometime with a very sketchy drawing. Colors are solid. Even for a 1978 anime, this is a notable weakness
Sound : the French version with its introduction music still resonates in my head. I am just addicted to it. I guess Italian / German and English Versions may have different intro/ending themes.
the animation music is also very good, well matching the atmosphere, the stress and the pace of the story.
Story : Very good with a lot of imagination. well written, rich scenario. Very little lag and swift pace.
Character : Well, the Characters do not evolve much during the eps. The lead character shows strength of will and charisma, but there is not a lot of development. no love development with Johanne although the potential was here.
Value :
The French Version is dubbed in a good quality French that contrast with recent French dubbed anime which language quality is a disgrace. I won't hesitate to let my kids watch this anime.
This anime is worth seeing multiple times. A must buy and a quality investment imho
Enjoyment : Very high, as a kid as well as 20 years later. (maybe still as a kid..)

| Keep in mind that this is a historic piece of anime and I watched it a long long time ago. For its time, it handled many interesting science fiction theories and went into some effort to explain them to the viewers. It had an interesting variety of stories with a different enemy for each number of episodes. I had lots of fun watching it, but that was a long long time ago.
I actually managed to get and watch one episode recently. The main thing I noticed that the anime style was hopelessly dated. Had I not known the series I don’t think I would have watched the entire episode. The dialog also seemed pathetic (it was a dubbed version).
For its time it was a phenomenal anime but now it is hopelessly outdated. Though it is a classic, I wouldn’t dare recommend watching it today with all the competition out there.

| Auch Captain Future weckt gute Erinnerungen, es ist schon ne halbe Ewigkeit her das ich diesen Anime gesehen habe aber damals war ich begeistert von dieser Serie und auch heute ist sie noch Kult!
