| Nothing good, nothing bad, except that to see this anime is just spend precious time. Many characters, a very few with some story to tell. And basic, at the end of this first season (I believe it is just 1st season because there's Vampire Knight Guilty) the story is not very far from where it start.

| It's settings depicts the academy where vampires and humans try to co-exist. There is a human girl, Yuki, who is in love with the vampire boss, Kaname. She had a fond memories of him, as her savor and the feelings for Kaname only are getting stronger. Kaname also has strong feelings for Yuki. Afterwards, another dude, Zero, is introduced. He hates vampires and has crush for Yuki. Then through out the entire 12 eps. you watch Yuki being indecisive, emotional, and depressed because of various things that are depressing her. Basically that's the story.
Now evaluation:
Animation: animation drawing was quite good and detailed. Shadows of the objects, 3-D perspective and etc. Unfortunately, I don't know why but these comedic faces were thrown in as if this anime were a comedy (trust me, it is not intended as a comedy anime).
Sound: nothing impressive, simple sound just to go with the pictures, when in this type of anime the sound could have been easily chosen as more grandioso or impressive. Also, there were some of the characters, that had some annoying voices (the ones that went with comedic faces). Overall, the voices of non-comedic characters were suitable.
Story: I did not like it. This anime started with dark, mysterious atmosphere with a glimpse of love, but later on it failed to keep any of these things. Ended up in Yuki going all emotional through all of the episodes. It was like lottery: at every new ep. Yuki is either depressed or scared (50-50 chance to guess it right..). By the way, there was some story going on while Yuki was choosing her mood, but story was also very cliche and full of plot holes.
Characters: well, I told already about Yuki, others except for the vamp boss, were all one dimensional with no guts at all. That Zero tried to shoot the vampire maybe at least 10 times and always failed because of some kind of weird occurrence or person. In any case, the story tried to show characters as a real people (with good and bad features) and it failed.
Value and Enjoyment: not much of enjoyment or entertainment there was. I watched this anime, but I do not think that I would like to watch it again.

| Vampire Knight is a series that mixes the lust of vampire lore with a complicated love triangle that transpires over the course of the series, with a bit of a twist in the overall mix. Based on the popular shoujo manga, the series describes the daily tasks of Yuuki, a girl who serves as a watcher for the students of the Night Class. Turns out that those attending the Night Class are actually vampires, and alongside her companion, Zero, they try to make sure the vampire students are kept in check and have their identities protected. Zero has a rather significant disdain for vampires, while Yuuki holds a fascination for them, particularly in the eyes of the charming Kaname, noting some significant occurrences in her past.
What happens after that is really a rollercoaster of events that, if I noted it in context here, it would be significant spoilers to the plot. The only thing I can say is that the plot becomes an unraveling of the past for the main three characters, and Yuuki's relationship with both Kaname and Zero comes to a head when she's in the crosshairs of some confrontational predicaments.
Let me first say that I haven't read the respective manga to VK, but the first season of the series left me with some intrigue.
One could say the series has its share of bishounen vampires of the night, each with a presentation that seems like a reverse harem anime series in a well to do setting. Matter of fact, the beginning episodes set up a school-life setting very well, with some bit humor interspersed throughout, and some of it is genuinely funny. Yet, the story contains more furrowing out as certain events occur, and the dramatic elements begin to flare in the midst of it all progressively until the end, which leaves a lot of threads wide open. I was left wanting a lot more from it, but then again, I think that was the idea. :)
The problem was that too many threads were left wide open, in awkward context. It's one thing to end something and know there's potentially a sequel, but to leave it on such a cliffhanger and have no ties as to what it means...that was bold, and I don't think the series handled itself all that well with such beginning potential. I didn't know whether to feel jaded or excited about the season (I suppose I felt a bit of both), yet the progression up to that point had picked up so much it left me with just a general positive outlook and hope for things to come. Yet, I have to say...they could have done a lot more with the series with those potential plot points, they concluded too quickly and left too many things to chance.
The leading protagonist Yuuki reminds me a bit of several indecisive characters who seem torn between two people in devotion, but that's a greater part of the love triangle, and it's not that I didn't like her, she just frustrated me to no end, or seemingly falling into danger with not as much as a quick wit to react from. While the love triangle dynamic provides a good setup, Yuuki herself isn't quite as solid of a character in her own standing to make her stand out above leads who fall into this cliched progression. Yet, I found myself rooting for her regardless, because there were moments where she provides sweet interactions with the people she feels affectionate toward, and I'll admit her interactions with Zero in the more vulnerable moments were noteworthy.
I found myself watching the series more for the character backstories, and the greater mystery unraveling about the pasts of the vampires, even Zero's own tragic past. Zero is a decent character, if a bit constructed around some common cliches (aloof, cold character, but he's that way for a reason). I found myself falling in step with him most of the time as revelations came to pass and his character softens, yet the more I felt I knew Kaname, the more I was proven wrong by the series. I learned more about Zero, but revelations lent more to Kaname's identity that I could insinuate on some measures, while others I could not. It does seem a bit overdramatic, but it unfolds in a fashion that's oddly addicting.
Some of the supporting cast did leave a few impressions on me, but overall, they weren't as strongly asserted as the main three. I think Yuuki's father provided some comedic moments, but sometimes they were...just a little bit over-the-top, heheh. ^^;
Animation standards are actually quite decently adapted from the manga designs, so one can expect good animation for the respective year and thorough consistency. Fluidity isn't really that great, but considering this is not a series that deals all that well with motion/action sequences, except in the simple progression of the story, I can't take too much away from it. Note that this is not an action oriented series, despite the blood/gore aspect of it, but rather focuses on a weighted story in tandem with its themes.
I really liked the OP/ED themes for the series, both are carefully orchestrated and fit the context of the series well, not to mention the OP found its way into my head when I listened to it for the first time, very catchy. Voice acting is very well noted for the respective characters, and if anything it makes up a bit for some of the weaker/less prominent characters showcased in the series with seiyuu that bring out their personalities a bit.
Overall, I was left with positive impressions of Vampire Knight, but I think for a series of its kind, it could have tightened its reins a bit more to be a better series. It's definitely more platable than a series like Black Blood Brothers for a vampire story, but considering it loses its momentum a bit and leaves an open-ended ending, some might come into it with disappointment. Here's hoping the next season closes a few holes that this one did not.

| Vampire Knight is the story of Yuki Cross and her childhood friend Zero at a unique type of school. Good characters, great aesthetics, and an intriguing ending drives this strong series.

| When I first watched Vampire Knight, I had also happened to stumble across Rosario to Vampire, which was compeltely different. "Geez, vampires are popular nowadays." Was exactly what I said.
That aside, I had really high expectations for this anime. I've heard lots of great things about the manga, often regarding the plot and the depth of it. So when the general direction of where the story was going was revealed, I wasn't particularly surprised. The story remains as the strongest point of the show.
Better than Bleach and Naruto (which I think I gave around 5-6 for my reviews), but lacks the action and element which gets you hooked.

| Yet another vampire series. Fortunately, Vampire Knight does not fall prey to routine and manages to set itself apart quite nicely. Main reason being that this is not an action series. Instead, it's a mystery/romance with a great, dark atmosphere throughout the series.
The animation of Vampire Knight was quite decent. The only complaints here are that the entire vampire cast consists of bishounen/bishoujo's you'd expect in Ouran High School Host Club, and furthermore, Yuki's (female lead) eyes are freaking huge! Other than that, it's never forgotten that this is a somewhat dark mystery, so nothing is animated too bright or beautiful. The atmosphere set by the animation is simply perfect. If you're craving blood and gore, Vampire Knight can do (and does) without. There is some, but it's never overdone.
Voice acting and music score are also quite decent. The tunes chosen for the anime are mosly darker ones, quite befitting the show itself. Voice actong is what you'd expect, nohting special really. Every character simply sounds as you'd expect.
However, what Vampire Knight relies upon are not flashy frames or superb vocals. It is the story that kept me watching. For the most part, it revolves around the mystery of one of the male lead's past and the story unravels in the same mysterious fashion. Although it doesn't take a genius to predict certain plot elements, there is a darker background plot going on which adds quite some mystery to everything. This background plot is also the bridge towards the next season and there the series somewhat falters. This is because it's just not a standalone. The follow up season is meant to be part of this. The story also falters on some other points. The characters hardly talk to eachother about important events, and this is done just so that the plot can unfold. Towards the end of the series, this becomes kind of annoying.
And this also happens to the main charachters in another fashion. The female lead gets robbed of her sense of logic in the end of the series, just to make events unfold as they do. It gets quite annoying when the main lead is unable to discern friend from foe, or demands that other characters just set aside their differences, despite that their hatred is fueled by blood-fueds. Another great point of annoyance is the principal, Yuki's father. He seems to exist solely for comic relief and that's just something this anime can do without. It would be something if the jokes were actually funny, but in Vampire Knight, they redefine "lame" and are so increadibly out of place that I wonder why the writer even bothered.
There are of course many good things in the character department. One of which is the amount of supporting characters in a half season anime. Some are more important than others, none really recieve any backround, but still, their personalities are easilly guessed and when you accept them, they do have some surprising dark traits to their characters, since nearly all supporting characters are vampires. Mind you, Vampire Knight has no room for filler, and as such, it doesn't have any. Still, in this short timeframe, we are presented with not just plot driven anime, but also a main lead that knows a lot of development in thirteen episodes and there is also a romance drama going on, since the female lead is falling for both of the main leads and, both of them in turn, are also sincere towards her. The tension between the male leads is apparent and fits right in.
I quite enjoyed this series from the first to the final episode, with the only real complaint being that it doesn't really end things there, no, the series has just begun. So if you're looking for a vampire/mystery/romance, Vampire Knight may just be what you wanted. Some parts of the setting are hard to swallow, but if you're willing to give this a go, you'll probably be pleased.

| My first impression was that Vampire Knight had a lot of potential. AFter watching this first season, I can say it wasn't as good as I originally thought it would be. Fortunately, the good storyline and interesting ploy on combining vampires with modern society and mixing with some magic did halp save this anime in my opinion.
I think that most people will think "Oh come on! Why'd you end it there!?!" (or something along those lines) after watching all 13 episodes. At least they really left me wanting more!
If you are looking for a love-romance anime with vampires and school girls with a good mix of drama and a little bit of action, I'd recommed Vampire Knight if you don't mind wanting more when you finish it off!

| This is a very good anime but it isnt a perfect ten. I honestly dont think anything is.
I liked it. I like almost anything about vampires. The downfall of Vampire Knight for me was the main character. Yuuki, while likeable, was way too indecisive for me. While it is natural to be indecsive in a lot of the situations she was in, it was just too much for me.
