I've found myself losing interest in the slice-of-life-about-nothing genre, which is what Hidamari Sketch actually caters to. x365 is a sequel to the original, filling in more days of the year with the lives of the girls at Hidamari Apartments. Some new characters are introduced (I think) such as the apartment manager and Sae's sister gets some more screen time. Basically, its more of the same, presented with more SHAFT-styled animation. I have no favorite episode here, because I still think that the Yuno gets sick episode was trippy and entertainingly twisted.

Sunshine Sketch x365 is a 13 episode sequel of Sunshine Sketch, released in 2008 with an extra DVD episode. It differs slightly from the original Sunshine Sketch in terms of style, but maintains its atmosphere and its charming nature.

Although the character designs and settings have not changed from the original Sunshine Sketch, x365 features significantly less real life imagery merged with the animated scenes. The animations in x365 are more detailed than the original, albeit a bit overly detailed at times. Nevertheless, I believe that the graphics and animation have stayed true to the series, and will not disappoint fans of Sunshine Sketch.

x365 features the same voice actors and music as Sunshine Sketch, and its theme songs use the same singers and bands. Therefore, x365 sounds as good as the original Sunshine Sketch.

Viewers of x365 need not have seen original Sunshine Sketch in order to follow the storyline, since x365 starts off with events that occurred before the original, re-introducing the entire cast. Each episode of the original revolved around isolated events, and that has not changed in x365. The charm and humour present in the original has also been brought over, resulting in a very enjoyable viewing experience for fans of the Sunshine Sketch.

Sunshine Sketch was not a cast heavy anime, and the same is true in x365. In fact, the cast does not change at all from the original, with no new characters introduced and no significant character development. But, the diverse personalities of the characters, further enhanced by the excellent voice acting, preserves the entertaining nature of the cast.

Sunshine Sketch x365 can be seen as an excellent sequel which remains loyal in every way to the original series. As a result, anyone who enjoyed the original will not be disappointed by this sequel. There is no doubt that x365 should be watched by fans of Sunshine Sketch, but it is also an anime worth checking out for curious viewers interested in a charming and relaxing anime. I am definitely looking forward to the third season, which has been announced in the DVD release.
