| When I saw this anime for the first time it was a really promissing view. At the beginning we have a boy - Kamishina Jin, along him stands Tachibana Kazuki. Childhood friend and really promising hero. Jin is about to fly to the moon on a spaceshuttle piloted by his father - one of Earth greatest pilots. During the atmosphere departure shuttle is hitted by an alien form of live. Jin as the only surviver of this disaster gains an extraordynary fealing of loneliness. His father mother and sister died.
Along this instant to Earth moves a powerfull - planet size alien - called Thanatos. No one is aware why this creature appered and why it is hear, but is seems that along it apperance dragon's came to live on Earth.
In this series dragons are alien form of live, powerfull and dangerous species. But between a dragon and a human a conection can be formend called Resonance. It allowes a dragon to take a form of a human – ‘comunicator’. It also gives a dragon human emotions and sense as well as individuality. So Dragonauts are humans that performed a Resonance with a dragon.
I will not say more, it is all you need to know about the story so far.
Well to the revie... A little about the animation, GONZO DIGIMATION studios are known from load of animes - but ones I value high are: 'Black Cat', 'Chrno Crusade', 'Full Metal Panic!', 'Hellsing' witch is a mastery done anime and another well done art anime 'Last EXILE' of. Measuring from this titles it goes without saying that the animation is good.
Sound in the anime makes good background, the music is nothing exiting, but it is no rubbish as well. OPEN and END songs aren’t really impresive, but its a matter of taste. All there is left to say in this mater, is the voice actors - I personally adore Minori Chihara sound and tone - she gives me a splendid image of Toa's voice.
So as you can see the form of this anime is really good in the matter of details. It is worser in the plot and its explication.
For starters it's the story - at the beggining it is full of mystery secrets and open secrets known to all characters but not to Jin and the viewer. But with time scips the potential starts to waste in trivial matters and incorrect way of using 'tools' in the story. In the end it is a common everyday plot for anime fans.
Charcters are diffrent. The lamest one is Jin himself. At the beginning he was a person with vigor and power - but whenever he is to make a chooise he neads others help or backup. Another one is Kazuki - never have I sean such potential of evil and all they done was to make him a madman shouting and screaming 'Jin I will kill you!'. Not mentioning the end of the line for him.
It is a little funny to watch this anime and it's heroes. Specialy when you consider Makina, Garnet McLane and Yuuri. This woman are well... constracted in a specific way. It is funny to have in a series one breasted chic, well you have tree in Dragonaut. I personally thing Makoto Uno (charcter designer) thinks a wamanhood is masured in breast size. Fortunetly Toa - the main girl in the series was not deformed with this. This woman are drawn not realistic with such a supernumerar ballast at the chest. Plus how on earth this chics are able to move?
If you asc me about the value of this anime series it is average. The way it is drawn is good, the sound is good, there are times you see that the dragons are moving a bit geometric and the 3D animation is not perfect. The main problem are the two main heroes Jin and Kazuki - friends but... well you will see yourself.
Do I enjoyed this anime? Not for sure - it was a high hope series, but it is a normal show done for normal people. In the end it is underdone, there are elements perfect, good and bad. You can watch it, you are not riscing anything. I watched it and I live, I have even pleasant memories - specialy concerning Toa – she is my beloved heroine in Dragonaut series. It is a real waste that Jin gets such a charming and cute girl.

| I'm usually not a fan of anime in the genera, but for some odd reason I was drawn to this series and really, really liked it. The animation was good for the most part, but had a few times where the quality wasn't on par with other episodes. I found the story very enjoyable and the character had enough depth to keep me entertained. The only thing I disliked about the series was Kazuki, it would of been much better if he was never in it at all.

| It's a very neat idea for an anime, however I feel as if the plot and characters are poorly executed. The main character especially bothers me. He is probably the only protagonist I know who has absolutely no ability to do anything on his own. Like...nothing. He needs everyone's help constantly non-stop. There are other characters in the show who I guess were supposed to be seen as having a deep emotional connection with the main character, but that never came through to me.
