Pyro summed it all up pretty well. The main characters are quite ordinary cliché stereotype characters, and i never really liked any of them. I literally fell asleep while watching episode 11, cause the story is just lame and boring. The animation was quite good, but as Pyro mentioned, the whole soulblade part was rather cheesy. Speaking of cheesy, some of the dialogues were so stupid that i actually laughed even though they were being serious, here are some examples from the most recent episode:

They have to choose between saving their arch enemy, Trihart (who's also a former friend, but turned out to be evil and tried to kill them) or save the world by cutting a cable that keeps him alive.

Souma:"Trihart or the world.. we want to save both. But if we only can save one, which should we choose?" ROFL

Souma:"Kiria, you choose"

-"J-just a minute! Can we really leave the final decision all up to Kiria?"

Souma: "Then let's go with a majority vote."

Kiria's Final decision: "We can't lose a precious friend" omg...

And every episode starts with the narrator saying "So you've come again to hear more of the story?"

I agree with everything Pyro wrote, so my rating is about the same. This review is based on 12 episodes.

This could have been a good show, and it might turn out to be, but what it is right now is boreing as hell. (watched 5 eps, could watch two more but its not worth it)

ANIMATION:
Rather good animation, and a sad waste if you ask me, all the characters are nice looking and the backgrounds are ok, but the whole pulling the sword out of their chest thing the every time, its annoying and ugly.

SOUND:
nothing good going for it, the sfx arent that good and the main theme isnt worth watching for the animation alone... very sub-par

STORY:
Soo little hapened in 5 episodes that its hard to keep up. I think .//hack has a faster mooving story. This thing is just one boreing dramma, I nearly fell asleep while watching this show, and im an anime fan, even a fan of bad animes that i know are bad, but this just isnt worth my time

CHARACTER:
Well now, think of 4 cliche steryotype characters and write them down and after you watch this show, tell me if those werent the four main characters you just fell asleep too

VALUE:
AVOID

ENJOYMENT:
I enjoyed the animation far to much, if it wasnt pretty i wouldn't have gotten past the second episode, i was hopeing for it to get better but i know when to give it up (or so i think)

-Based on 5 Episodes-

In a way, I had no real expectation for this series. Unsurprisingly, it is just another mediocre anime with eye candy animations and average storyline.

Animation - It is good for a 2007 animation standards. By what I have seen so far, the animation is the only thing that the anime has going for it. Also all you furry/fantasy fans, this one will be for you. There seems to be quite a few animal people in this anime.

Sound - Nothing quite outstanding about the sounds either. The music, both openning and ending, had no real catchy tune nor lyrics.

Story - Basic story of a group of friends are chosen unknowingly and transported to another world. Then they adorn new costumes and fight to save the world they're in. Obviously, it is a recycled idea. It is unimaginative and has no innovations to make it truly stand out aside from the "Soul Blades" which, as the name suggests, are swords supposely materialized by the human soul. Also, the episodes hop from one group of characters to the next randomly making it really annoying to follow, but that's just me. I prefer for a story to focus on one thing at a time.

Character - As far as I have seen, there's nothing in the character department which make this anime stands out either. You have your headstrong, courageous hero, Souma. Then there's his friends which you will find out when/if you watch it, but either way, the characters are uninteresting aside from their designs.

In conclusion, the anime is average in all department; thus, making it a mediocre series at best. True I may be jumping to conclusion seeing it has only been 5 episodes, but as far as I know it, little may change to raise the anime above mediocrity.
