I only recently started watching this anime and i was surprised as to how i could have missed such a great masterpiece. I read previous reviews on the first season of Emma, i think people are being way to harsh. Many seemed to complain that the anime is rather slow, i agree, but instead being aggravated by how slow it was, i found that the slowness of the anime added to its greatness. Because it was slow the anime was able unravel its characters piece by piece. And in fact if the pace was increased im sure people would simply say its rushed. So just enjoy its slowness :).

Now on Continuing with my Review. I found the animation quite original, the water colour like scenes gave a strong sense of the past. Although i have never been to England, im sure the animation represents it rather well. A downside to the animation would be that some of the faces drawn to too similar, which i find slightly dissapointing. On the other hand, the animators put lots of effort into drawings of dresses, seen at the many parties in the anime.

The sound is very soothing and seems to just blend in when your watching, to the point where i hardly noticed it. Other than that i felt that the beginning and ending themes kept reminding me of trains ( when i close my eyes ) .

The story is marvelous, im quite a fan of romance and its rather rare to find a romance anime you'd be satisfied with. The first season of Emma really does leave viewers dissapointed, but clearly they planned to have the second to give everyone the conclusion we all wanted <3. The story sheds light on the differences between societies in London and how although both live together, the rich and the poor don't mix. This is challenged as William a wealthy young man falls in love with Emma, a regular maid. Together they both face there own hardships. William fights against his family and expectations and Emma who realises how impossible her love is. Just quietly, they eventually do overcome these challenges :))).

William was definitely my favourite character. Why? because as you watch the anime you also watch a boy grow into a man. Along the story, William learns Determination, aspirations, responsibility and the vaule of family and friendships. Oh and of course true love! Emma was also awesome and although she did not speak much, when she did speak she would say quite alot in those few words. Make sure you keep an eye out for her body language too. I loved especially how Emma cherish the Hankerchief that William gave her in episode one :). Some characters i hated, actually hated is a strong word, i'd rather say Disliked. Some of the characters i disliked were Hans. Yeah he is no hero and how dare he ask Emma to marry him, when they dont even know eachother. He tried to take advantage of her when she was weak and lonely. ARghghgh. yea i dont like Hans. Pfft he never had a chance. Guess he was the only person i didn't like, OH and Viscount Campbell, he shakes a guys hands then behind the scenes throws away his glove as if he was too good. PFft, die slow.

I really enjoyed this anime, and for those who want a good, i mean great romance anime with a good ending. Please give this anime a chance. You won't regret and hopefully my biased review will encourage you to watch it.

One last thing, i loved how they showed us how Williams dad came to meet his mum. But i hated it when they had to live apart. Ahh, but it was awesome nontheless. Chou CHou.
