| I was actually very disappointed with this anime. I found myself struggling through it instead of enjoying it. The animation is weird but generally I can let that fly. What really gets to me are bad plots and unrealistic characters. And I mean realistic in consideration of the fact that this is a futuristic mecha series. The people just seemed fake and a lot of the things that happened in the first few episodes were unbelievable and irritating. If you are looking for a mech anime, this season I recommend Heroic Age, Engage planet, or an older series like Gundam Seed. Don’t get me wrong you may like this series but to do so requires more sacrifice than I imagine most are willing to make.

| Wow... what is going on? 2nd mecha related anime in one year that is actually good! (other being Code Geas). This one though has the best mecha related action scenes I've ever seen.
Yet another anime based on a post-apocalyptic era. Overused yes, but still appealing. After Earth suffered a huge disaster, the survivors (a lot actually) decided to make a new world order: a world ruled by honorable and gentleman-like wars fought by mechas called Gigantic Formulas. Basically its like: "I challenge you to a duel on said time at said place, so be ready to fight when the time comes".
Either way, a town boy, who became the champion at a game competition (used to recruit possible pilots) becomes the pilot of Japan's first Gigantic Formula right when Japan was under attack by another Giant, and so it starts.
Animation... this is rather odd. Character animation is bad and most have the distinctive trait of Chucky's face (yes the killer doll one), yet mecha animation and the fluidity of the action scenes are amazing, the best I've seen.
The sound aspect of this series which includes character voices, OP/ED music, and background music are very good. Particularly, the background music played during the fight scenes were amazing.
As of ep. 2, it is still too early to reach a conclusion regarding story and plot development; however, so far so good.
I like this series alot, just hope it doesn't disappoint me as it progresses like most series seem to do nowadays.
Update: Well, this series digs too much on character development, way too much, and it forsakes the story development. Still somewhat enjoyable.
