Fazit:
This anime is very two-sided. On one side it really looks like a gag anime for the first 20 episodes. After that the arcs become step by step more serious.
For people who llike shounen mangas it's an absolute must-watch, even though you have to bear the first 20 episodes, but even people who like serious animes more, should give it a try, because it can be really funny (humor almost reaches one piece level).

The anime belongs to the comedy and fighting genres. While the first 9 episodes contain mostly introduction of new characters the next 9 episodes are mostly filler episodes, showing the trainig of the main character. The following episodes finally begin for form some kind of story, but after the conflict has been cleared the anime goes back to boring for some episodes, until the next larger conflict emerges.

The anime seems to be targeted at young boys, so I'm a bit out of range with my 24 years.

Overall the anime is made with much creativity but is too annoying to watch due to too many filler episodes.

This is a watch it to like it anime. You have to watch it awhile to understand it enough to like it. Kinda, like Toppa Gurren Lagann (dorky but ended up being awesome).

Mafia bosses are cool. It tries to be funny which makes it funny! Usually those anime annoy me. But it's actually ok because it's about building a mafia family, which actually builds a good story line.

Animation and sound could be much better but it w-o-r-k-s. Character development is ok; but characters are great, just the development is messed up a bit.

a lot of people seems to have missed this anime. As a fan who love E7, Full metal alchemist, Last exile, Hunter x Hunter... I prefer animes with serious and funny elements. REBORN has both, but the serious side doesn't come in till episode 19.

For a start, REBORN takes off as a comedy, an anime that looks (from the very first episode) to be full of silly stories with no obvious plot development. The plot is about the training of Tsuna to become an Italian mafia boss by his tutor: Reborn, who is an extraordinarily intelligent assassin baby. uh, yes, a baby! Despite the anime's lack of direction, I found myself drawn to its unusual anime style, its funny episodes, its characters and the question that constantly bugged me: when was the real thing gonna start?

Real threat to Tsuna, caused by his connection to the mafia, starts from episode 19, and things just get better and better onwards! We see more serious fights, more character development, and more worrying moments as Tsuna and his friends try to hide the mafia business from others. I think the author's taking a big risk in changing the tone so late into the anime/manga, but it's worth it. It takes the story into a whole new level, the level that everyone's been expecting.

In terms of fights, don't expect something as long-winded as Naruto, but do expect originality and surprises!

Character-wise, I still can't say for sure, everything is slow but enjoyable, much like the plot development that takes 19 episodes to lift off. Personally I love every character. Didn't like Lambo at first, but he's fast becoming a favourite. It's great watching Tsuna's "family" grow, and see how Tsuan overcomes one difficult situation after the next. Tsuna's easily the most likable character. By the usual standard, he's a loser. He's timid, shy, bad at academics and sports, but even without REBORN using the dying-will bullet, we can see Tsuna is kind-hearted and caring towards others. This quality prevents him from cutting off the mafia tie, even though he repeatedly denies he's part of it. Anyway, I'm now into episode 42 (just 2 episodes behind), so I can safely say that everyone is looking better and better in terms of strength, team-building and character development!

anyone who has given up REBORN after the first few episodes, you're missing out on a pretty good anime.

Heh, another premature review about an anime that I think has potential.

Basically, this is about a "useless" school boy in Japan who apparently has some Italian ancestry. Little did he know that he descended from a top notch Italian mafia family and that he was selected as the successor of the 10th generation boss position. One day the mafia family's top hitman/assassin, Reborn, shows up to train the below-average boy and turn him into a respectable mafia boss. Thing is, this top grade hitman is a baby and uses the weirdest things (trying not to give any spoilers) and methods to train the boy.

I mean, how crazy/weird/random/a bit shallow and original can that be??? I just hope that the plot development is also as good as the story.

The characters are great. The main boy is timid (basically a loser) yet it is hilarious watching him perform hard tasks through the "guidance of Reborn", who is another likeable character. The rest of the cast is "colorful" and they complement the main cast brilliantly.

The sound is average or more likely un-memorable. Decent overall.

I have watched 4 episodes so far, and I'm having a good time watching this series. I just hope this doesn't turn into a series full of fillers or situation of the day kind of episodes.
