| Unfortunately I read the scanlated version by Manga Coalition, since where I live mangas are hard to get and expensive to order. Since it is only two volumes it is worth buying if you find it on a shelf in a comics store.
THere's also an anime but I preferred the manga, not only because it has good story (some extra chapters are included, plus Yume's graduation that is absent in the anime), characters and design but because the concept of applying magic in that way (forget Harry Potter) is very enchanting and immediately caught my interest. While the anime added more elements, it was the manga's simplicity and character interaction that makes it a worth read. For a two volume story this is one of the best mangas.
The story with the old lady was very touching and also the story of Oyamada, These stories made the characters even better. Fortunately no Angela here. And I liked Yume much more than the anime, though the anime's voice actress did a decent job too.
A good title and if you look for a different kind of magic than the standard fairy tale and witchcraft one and how it is applied on modern society and in only two volumes, this is a must read.
I sum up with a quote found in the manga:
Go ahead, Believe! It does no harm.

| Wow. This is the first time I'm ever the first reviewer for a series. It feels different.
Anyhow... I went to the Anime Expo this year and checked out few manga series and this one caught my eyes. It was only two volumes long so I thought it won't be so bad.
It turned out that though short this manga series has quite a bit going for it. In fact I really thought this manga presented it's stories and characters in a very through and efficient way.
The story is about this one magic user girl trying to get a license to practice magic officially. She goes to Tokyo to learn from Masami, a magic instructor haunted by his past. Yume eventually comes into conflict with herself about what magic is and can do for other people. Although Yume's intentions might be good, things not always turn out for the best, and other might view you with a wrong impression.
The issue in this manga is not really restrictive to this manga only. We can apply the themes in this manga to our world even. Sometimes certain races are stereotyped for some of the images that they do not deserve. Certain people with different wasteline might be discriminated just for their looks.
this manga does a great job in presenting this theme through a world where magic exists. Yume is a girl coming of age who is in conflict. Masami himself also needs to overcome his past. the story is short and sweet. Design is clean and nice. this manga was a enjoyable experience that took me only about an hour to finish. If you get a chance to grab this series and I recommend you do so. It's a worthwhile manga to look at for some amusement, but also some introspection of ourselve and the people around us.
Oh and it is licensed by Tokyopop
