| Viewed in the perspective of a romance genre otaku, this anime had no storyline. Sumomo mo Momo mo (did I get all the 'mo's in?) is the stereotypical action where there too much fighting without justification. While there are some great action genre anime that have been released, this is not one of them. Sumomo mo Momo mo lacked plot, a major flaw in many actions which compromise plot and cohesiveness for the action scenes which were merely average.
If one ignores the plot, the anime is most likely average, but the plot is not compelling. In some ways, I would have preferred there to have been no plot than the unjustified, non-cohesive plot that was put in this anime. Many elements of the anime have been merely copied from other actions as well.
For non-action viewers or people who emphasize plot over other elements of an anime or film (I fit both discriptions), I would personally say avoid this unless you are bored. If you are a "pure action" viewer, this story might work, but I also will say there are most likely better actions to watch whatever your tastes in the action genre lie.

| Well, Sumo(x6) seemed funny enough to start. The sound and animation were nothing too amazing. Characters in the story didn't really grow from where they started, with maybe the exception of the male lead in the last two episodes (though not by much). At any rate the story was full of loose ends and had a rather unfinished plot, which if they plan on continuing it in another season is fine I suppose. By all means do not take the show seriously, its purely a harem comedy with a side dish of poor action.
The main attraction here are the incessant attempts of Momoko to get Koshi to sleep with her. Throughout the show both of them get progressively more active in trying for and rebuking each other. However, after a while the writers realized that they did have a story to attend to and quickly try to add a heavy dose of storyline at the end, culminating in a big superpowered fight. This of course means that the comedy is set aside at the end and things go downhill until the last laugh at the very end.

| Based on 7 episodes:
I have absolutely no patience with animes like these. These animes have absolutely no point except to hope to entertain through utterly random scenes that go overboard in exaggeration, weirdness, and super-natural abilities. I admit, the first two episodes did catch my attention - but only because of the unusual beginning. I did feel that it was interesting, but after 7 episodes, I knew that the pacing, the general storyline progression, and the 'humor' was not going to change at all.
What makes the anime so unbearable? Momoko seems cute enough - some little girl who is very strong and wants to follow her dad's advice of getting pregnant to bear the strongest child in all of martial arts. The male lead (whose name is unimportant) seems okay - he has some sort of sarcastic nature about him, and treat Momoko as a pet dog. But when you put them together, this is when chaos and boredom reign free. Since the relationship between the two characters is so one-sided, it gets boring. It's just Momoko's endless attempts to try to impress the guy - from offering herself nude to offering herself nude in home-made food.
The storyline basically revolves around how the male character is the target of assassination of all the martial arts families (12 zodiacs) with Momoko always by the guy's side to protect him. Nevertheless, the focus is not on the fights as Momoko always uses the same move. Instead, this story is just a pretense for Momoko to try to get close to the guy's heart, who is just uninterested. Anyway, this is a comedy anime and its just lame.
I highly recommend you to STAY AWAY from this.

| I think everyone review really does speak truth to the value of this anime - It is not that good. Yes, there are some moments where you will laugh. But everything else lacks quality. The characters are mindblowingly shallow. The story is way to simple to even go to 22 episodes. The animation is flat and is nothing special. Music is an absolute drag most of the times. In short this anime is just one of the flurry of Harem animes that depend on fan service for its viewers. I would recommend other series before this one.
Characters? Mostly flat. They all lack personality. Momoko is onesided until the last episode. The Horse girl is just used for fan service most of the times. The most aggrevating thing about the characters though is that they all really provide a same type of role with similar personality. There's two catagories the one's being loved, and the ones who love. That's really where the line is drawn and nothing interesting happens.
Story? Most of it is just filler stories with needless fan service. This anime could've been eaily done in 13 episode, which would have made the anime more brisk and better. The assassin's are trying to kill Koushi, and somehow because of all the other marshal artists around Koushi gets saved. This plot device continues all the way to the very end. Although they do try to spice it up a little bit at the end, it is really too late and too little.
Animation is standard. Nothing special. The whole CG dragon and stuff were not that effective, and it just looked plain dumb at times. Character designs are also very generic, and background art is simple to the point of boring. Music is a drag. OP and ED both sucks. they are bad and I was just dying to skip them as fast as possible.
This anime simply is for the fan service and few laughs here and there. It isn't a quality anime. If you want romance you can find better romance else where. But if you are a avid Harem genre fan, I am sure you will enjoy this anime. If you are not, go grab Paradise Kiss for serious romance. For Harem, Chobits is better then this one.
Have Fun

| Sumomomo Momomo is a 22 episode long anime series which will bring anyone who doesn't mind fan service, plenty of laughs.
The animation of Sumomomo is of high quality. Although the character designs are more on the simple side, and some designs are quite bad, graphical errors and inconsistencies are rare, and the use of computer graphics is quite welcome. The battle scenes are usually short and distracting with all the fan service or computer generated animation going on, making them quite fun to watch. The use of exaggeration is also very frequent and amusing to watch. Graphics and animation wise, Sumomomo is far from a let down.
The music and theme songs are quite not of my taste, but fit in strangely well with the anime. The voice acting is of top quality, featuring a cast of high profile voice actors. However, Sumomomo is an anime which music is far less noticeable due to its humour and fan service.
Most of the episodes in Sumomomo are fillers, but those fillers are executed brilliantly. Most comical moments take place during them, and the humour only starts to recede with the final few episodes, where the anime focuses more on the feelings and relationships of the characters rather than humour and fan service. Whether that is a good thing will strongly depend on the viewer. The anime is hilarious from the start, with an ending that somehow feels very befitting for this anime.
The cast in Sumomomo is sufficiently developed thanks to the fact that they are not sophisticated. Although every character only has one mentality and aim from beginning till the very end, they are all quite different and create numerous hilarious moments throughout.
Despite the lack of storyline development in most episodes, the shallow characters, and simplistic character designs, Sumomomo started me off with laughs and left me with a smile. I thoroughly enjoyed most of the episodes, and I'm certain anyone who enjoys light hearted humour and doesn't mind fan service would feel the same.

| Sumomo mo Momo mo is another of those harem anime that combines martial arts and comedy together into one series. It has some good points and bad points, but in the end, it just fall short of being a good anime.
The animation is pretty good, and you could notice it has improved a lot towards then end, especially when compared with the first couple of episodes. What I don't like though, it that the last episode's fighting style doesn't match with what the series had established, a light-hearted comedy, the graphics was slightly too gory to match the whole series.
The sound is above average, Takahashi Hiroki (Harima from School Rumble) did a good job as Inuzuka. The opening and ending themes does take awhile to use to, but they do have some hilariously funny lyrics.
The story, especially the main story should've been developed much earlier in time, than to just push everything in the last few episodes. The ending, especially, was quite dissappointing with all the characters and events building up to it. It was lacklustre and the explanation to be left a lot to be desired.
The characters are decent, but they didn't grow much as the series goes on. Especially Inuzuka, as the main character of Sumomo, he has the most potential to be made much more complex and interesting, but even at the ending, it was a bit of a let down. The characters themself are not bad, they're all quite well established, but they just lacked the character development that make them more rounded as the story goes on.
Sumomo is a decent series to watch. Hilarious episodes, and a decent main storyline. Even though the ending is a slight let down, it is still a very enjoyable series to watch if you're not looking for a serious/complex story.

| Sumomomo Momomo is somewhat action/love-romance/martial arts/comedy/and harem at the same time.
Animations are decent for a 2005 anime. The character models are ok, except for the big huge eyes the characters have. The backgrounds are colorful and work well with the anime. Everything seems fine, but the fight scenes I thought could have been a LOT better.
The OP song for this anime is so good. Personally I like it. The OP and ED that this anime has sound quite unusually for most animes. It sounds more ....... I don't know how to describe it. Just listen to it and you'll know what I mean. But the first OP starts off the song with "Let's engage in child production." Yea, kind of freaky. Well it fits the anime story.
The story is about a girl named Momoko who wants to marry a boy named Koushi. They have to marry to keep the peace of the chinese zodiac and keep the east and west from fighting. Unfortunately for our two main characters they have a bit of problems to deal with. Momoko loves Koushi, but Koushi doesn't love Momoko. Instead he wants to be a lawyer and not a martial artist like Momoko. Koushi must deal with getting attacked by assassins who are trying to take his life to stop the peace. Don't ask me why they want to stop the peace?
The characters in this anime are fun-filled and they all go through some character development. The side-characters are just as fun as well. Then the anime kind of turns out to be a harem on some episodes. You have Momoko the main girl, Iroha the aggresive and kind one, and Sanae the really smart and nice girl. The secret is that they are all martial artists and Koushi doesn't like martial artists. The characters are fun to watch and that made the anime fun to watch as well. (I still didn't like the main male lead after the anime was over)
Sumomomo Momomo is a watch for comedy. Maybe a watch for everything else it tries to do. The harem seems decent enough to pull off. The action is there, but not one of the anime's main points. And the love-romance between all three of the girls and the main character is there. Put it all together and you get a tounge twister called Sumomomo Momomo.

| Sumomo Momomo is a fairly entertaining and tongue twisting anime about martial arts and the war between the East and West. To end the rivalry, a proposal was suggested that Inuzuka Koushi of the Dog Clan be married with Momoko of the Dragon Clan, a unification of the two factors. However, some clans don't like this idea, and attempt to assassinate the would-be husband. Hilarity and mayhem ensues.
The series is a mix of the harem and shounen genres - the ones with usually a baseless male lead. But not here!: Inuzuka Koushi strays away from the typical role of the loser and instead is a prospective prosecutor, who, against the judgement of his clan, derides martial arts as violent and law-breaking and sticks to the books with clauses and paragraphs to defend himself. Unfortunately, the world of martial arts has their own rules to abide to, but at least SOMEtimes he's successful! And a harem isn't a harem without 2 or more girls around the main guy. Momoko is the main female lead (with one of the most fappable/annoying voices ever), Iroha made episode 5 the real climax of the series, and Sanae, whom you might believe to be normal at first. Then there are some other males in the series who... just aren't lucky. In all, the characters develop quite interestingly and hilariously. Yep.
As for the story, there's a LOT of action and CG effects, to satisfy those who want some "martial arts" kickass-ery. Most of the episodes involve either an assassination attempt or a generic lovefest (nothing wrong with both). Truth be told, most people who have watched this series will say that episode 5 is the climax of the series. The episodes after that will fall below expectations, but they are still enjoyable. Ending is sort of rushed, but provides a nice closure to the series.
Things to look out for:
-Defending from martial arts by means of prosecution!
-I will rock you senseless.
-FANSERVICE HOLY SHIT.
-Ice cream accident.
-Koushi-dono, Koushi-dono, Koushi-dono, Koushi-dono, Koushi-dono, Koushi-dono, Koushi-dono, Koushi-dono, Koushi-dono, Koushi-dono, Koushi-dono, Koushi-dono, Koushi-dono, Koushi-dono, Koushi-dono, Koushi-dono, Koushi-dono, Koushi-dono, Koushi-dono, Koushi-dono, Koushi-dono, Koushi-dono!
-Oniiiiiiiii-chaaaaaaaaan!!~~~ <3
-Psuedo-******.
-I will rock you senseless.
-Sorry, but episode 5 is the climax. The stuff after just isn't as memorable. T_T

| This is a fairly entertaining show - I guess it doesnt have a lot of reviews yet because it's hard to find and not yet out on R1 DVD.
The opening lets you know it's going to be strange because the title character says things like "Let's make babies." No she's not a nympho, she's the successor to a school of martial arts, that in the somewhat complex backstory is allied with other martial arts schools, and Sumomo is supposed to marry the successor to the "head school". Unfortunately he's a scholarly nerd who loves reading law books, leaving Sumomo to follow him around, join his school and try and convince him.
There are other characters who either want to kill Koshi (her fiance) or marry him, making for some entertaining early episodes. I won't spoil it, but the masked Kamen character in her S&M garb is another wierd character that doesn't fit her alter ego too well.
I like the fanservice as much as the next guy but it ocassionally brings this show down a notch. The best episodes are funny and entertaining and the other episodes are still OK, so I give it an 8 overall.

| It's rare that I dislike the first episode of a series as much as I did episode 1 of Sumomomomomomo. It's even more rare, therefore, that I end up laughing so much as such a poorly conceived series progresses.
So, I'll recommend this odd, punnedly named anime, because if you can get past the first terrible episode, it's got some hilarious moments.
As noted in the above posts, the anime unfortunately focuses more on the storyline towards the end of the anime and loses sight of its humor, thus detracting from my overall impression. It's still mostly worth watching, but as the overall setup isn't good, the plot specific episodes including the final few are somewhat boring.
