Quite possibly the best sleeper anime of all time. The premise of the movie seemed very lame to me (ramen noodle girl fighting?) and I resisted watching until my friends literally forced me.
I haven't laughed that hard since Full Metal Panic Fumoffu. In fact, I'd rate this as being even funnier. My cheeks and throat were hurting from cracking up so hard. I couldn't believe that no one knew about this little gem. Do yourself a favor and watch it. This anime deserves some recognition.

Muteki Kanban Musume is a strange anime, its a comedy series where not much progresses.

To compare, alot of comedy series that i watch like School Rumble, Azumanga Daioh and to an extent Excel Saga has a flow of some sort. This show doesn't, what i mean is that pretty much the episodes don't connect with one another and leads no where. Of course, blasting a comedy for lack of story is not good reviewing from me, but the problem with this comapred with alot other comedy seires is that there really is no anticipation to watch the next episode in a hurry if not much happens within the previous episode to make you want to keep watching...

that is nto to say Muteki has no highlights at all, in fact, the comedy is sporadic, funny, sometimes intelligents and sometimes forced and OTT but Muteki humour lies in Miki's fighting and the enemies around her. Alot of that happens and it ends up quite predictably with Miki winning them. There's variation in the execution but the end result is pretty much the same, the comedy is not gold nor is it perfect but tis good and worth watching if you have a few minutes spare.

Don't expect a brilliant comedy and you will be surprised, but for me, Muteki tries a bit too hard sometimes and thoguh succeeds alot, it doesn't rank among my fave comedies with its lack of structure, random pacing and predictability.

7/10
grade: B-

Muteki Kanban Musume features light humor in the fashion of School Rumble side-stories or Full Metal Panic Fumoffu (minus the romance element). If you're looking for a plot-driven comedy or something intense, this probably isn't the anime for you. However, if you want something random and a bit goofy, this series really delivers.

There seems to be a serious lack of mindless humor lovers at Animenfo since I'm the first one to review this laugh riot.

Muteki Kanban Musume in short is a story of Miki, a noodle bar poster girl, and her daily adventures. To expand a little, it's also a heck of a lot of violence and wacky situations. Her daily program usually includes delivery jobs, beating from her mom about failed deliveries and fights with two childhood friends with bitter wish to beat her to pulp. First one in line Kankuro, who has never got over the fact Miki used to humiliate him when they were children. So he has trained through years and now comes back to get revenge. Unfortunately Miki is still ways stronger than him but that doesn't stop him trying. Second in line is Megumi, the poster girl of the neighbouring bread shop that competes with the noodle bar. Well, there wouldn't actually be much competition unless Miki and Megumi would square off daily. They have a long history of arguing the benefits and failures of ramen and bread. Megumi has also trained during the years but she's no match for Miki either. Rather she's an evil person to the bone and always tries to use dirty tricks to beat Miki while Kankuro is an honest fighter. Joining them are Toshiyuki, a local dog, who can match Miki hit by hit, his owner Wakana, a cute little girl who controls Toshiyuki with ease. Then there's Miki's mom, the owner of the noodle bar, who is the undisputable fighting lord of the block, deadly depressing teacher of the local school and finally Ohta, the manager of the neighbouring store who's a bit more normal than the others and offers some commentary on others behaviour. That's excluding his passionate hobby for Star Rangers and slight otaku-like behaviour.

The episodes follow a routine of having Miki fight with some other character with different reasons. It would definately be boring unless the characters would be so delightfully twisted and situations they got into so absurd. One mild example includes Miki and Megumi getting trapped in a closed inner yard and how they in their eagerness to get out (preferable before the other) sabotage every attempt to rescue them until there's five people trapped there doing battle royale. The true rescue however, is totally unexpected. It's hard to explain the pure mania that flows from the screen during the show. It leaves so little room for reason that it made my brain relax instantly. Of course, to enjoy MKB you have to able to stomach a lot of comedy violence where people get beat up for various reasons and with various ways. Another point of course is that there's no character development and they definately aren't deep.

The animation is great for this kind of comedy. You thought Higurashi had face distortion? Wrong, MKB has faces going all over the scene. This does a great job delivering the devilish nature of the characters to the viewer. Otherwise the animation is very nice making all-present fight scenes enjoyable. The character desings are very cute and pleasant. No humongous breasts here. The BGM is rather nonexistant but the voice actors do a solid job. Opening song sets mood nicely.

So that's it. You get 12 episodes of funny and violent situations with very little other content. If the series had mixed some other elements like romance or character development, the mindless violence would have felt really excessive but now it all falls into place.
