| I love U-Jin's artwork and the idea behind this series is great, but the story fails to come together and the series is hard to actually sit and watch because of that.

Well this anime called "Sakura Diaries" hasn't been reviewed in a while I can see so while I was was reading some some reviews decided I would give it a shot also because its only 12 episodes long. It has romance, comedy, and a bit of ecchi that actually isn't the stereotypical one.
I did not expect Sakra Diaries to be as entertaining as it had been. This is funny well sometimes have the question in your mine that thinking well why why the. Well you get it.
This series also seem sto be well some what sick if you think about it though you really never see any thing sick. I mean its kind of like cousin loving another cousin you know the story but this was made in 97' so its not a complete rip off.
Animation -
Well I' love the 90's drawing style more than ony other decade. I mean think about it most anime's animation department seems to be slacking off now especially in character design. Think about it, when was the last newer anime where the chicks looked like well normal people and not an anerexic with big tits. Well I'm gonna answer your question for you," you don't remember". Wewll this anime the character designs actuall look well like they are not anerxic. The animation was smooth for the year 97'. Colors and shades werew average.
Sound -
The opening theme fit the anime. The ending theme was good for an ending theme because I didn't mind it and usually most ending themes a gay sounding. The background music was ok but no really worth remembering. The voice acting was well ok I guess not the best and not the worst just simple.
Story -
Do not watch it for thestory because it mostly about character developement. There really isn't much to the story ecause its mostly focuses on the characters. Well its about a guy who wants to go to this college but failed and is taking cram school so he can be hang out with the girl who passed it the first time. I'm not going into much detail but it has some romance with comedy.
Characters -
The characters were well I liked them and they were weird. I've been hearing that the main character is a dick but I don't thinkl he is. Think baout it just because his cousin who's a girl loves him is it wrong for him to like someone else. Come on the guys normal I mean does he have to love his cousing in a relationship kind of way. The characters do delelope and change ways of thinking so they seem above average to me. Ok here are the characters. Main character like this red-headed looking early 90's stle whore(shes not really a whore). The girl who isthe cousin of the main character loves him. The main character thinks his cousin is hot. Well if you like this little descriptionsof them well then just watch it its not that long I mean just go to youtube haha.
Value -
Well I'm not gong to rewatch because theres better animes out there. The subs were decent. and well i rcommend it to anyone who doesn't a cheesey anime that has love-romance,comedy, and a bit of ecchi. Well I'm not going to collect it.
Enjoyment -
It kept me entertained throughout with its comedy and its 90's style animation that I like.

| Sakura diaries is about Touma Imaba, a guy that grew up in the country coming to the city and wanting to enter a university in Tokyo.
This one is just awful. I had to force myself to watch half of the series, and I could only do so by making Mystery Science Theater 3000-style comments on the thing.

| Sakura Diaries is a very interesting anime. I found only one thing disturbing in it and it is the pubic hair thing. The cousin-cousin relationship didn't bother me because it is not wrong in many different cultures including Japan it is just discouraged but there are alot of exceptions especially if both are happy and mutally benefiting eachother. That doesn't mean you can marry any cousin it has to be atleast like Tonma and Urara. That mean's Urara can't marry any cousin that is her father's brothers' sons or Tonma can't marry any cousin that is his mother's sisters' daughters. Those cousins are cosidered to be like secondary brothers or sisters in other words cousin brother or cousin sister.
I sure would like to see a sequal to Sakura Diaries. I would like to see Tonma actually getting into Keio with Urara. He is not dumb he just got distracted too much by girls. Also Tonma wasn't true to his feeling for Urara. He was pretty happy till he found out his uncle did not know he is staying in his house.

| Initially, the very idea of hentai (cartoon porn) made my eyebrows raise and myself frown. After all, cartoon sex seemed to be merely a substitute, and quite lame at that. Yet, while watching several anime I could not help but notice that some of the females are sexy, even voluptuous. So when I had a chance to see few hentai I took the opportunity...
... and saw how little such thing represents, in terms of story and characters. Never ever the term `gratuitous fan-service` has come to my mind so strongly.
"Sakura Diaries" would actually benefit from being a hentai.
While aiming for a mark of `character-driven` anime "Sakura Diaries" confuses several key definitions, and thus ends as far cry from any romance title that comes to mind.
Starting with enjoyable lead. Here, like in NGE side characters are more enjoyable than main duo. They are more interesting, they get more development and, finally, they are more likeable.
Another confused definition is thought provoking show. Following in the footsteps of "Elfen Lied", "Sakura Tsuushin" has characters that make stunning decisions just out of blue. You never get to know WHY did he do this, or WHAT caused her to act like that. Certainly thought provoking, now is it not?
Last confused definition is ending full of closure. It was mistook for ending straight out of "Angel Sanctuary" - the one that was made just in half of the story. Clean cut, and rest is for us to wonder.
If not for those confused definitions, "Sakura Diaries" would most likely earn the proud title of `character-driven` anime, out of simple truth. There is nothing else out there, beside characters. Story hangs on their interactions (romance and love triangle), there is no subplot, no side story. Animation sole saving grace are character designs (females, oh! those females) and sound will not even earn honorable mention.

| This was terrible. I mean, apart from having decent animation (fortunately it was not too bright, or I might have died of brain poisoning), there is nothing good about this.
I don't know what was the goal of the people who made this, but I'm guessing they didn't mean to create the most pathetic love story...ever. Well, unfortunately for them, they did. Typical love story, with a love triangle, Sakura Diaries lacks ANY kind of originality. It has every cliche listed in the 'How to make a Romance anime' book; it is sometimes confusing and shallow... and, most of all, it fails to be interesting.
The characters are simply pathetic...oh, and cliched, can't forget that; their attitudes made me want to beat them in the head with a club (to try to knock some sense in their, clearly empty heads).
Well, if you're looking for a good romantic story, with actual drama and some depth, do NOT watch this. This is just a shallow, childish story of a high school girl with a typical crush. The situations, happenings and attitudes of the characters are so very unrealistic. Very bad.

Quite realistically drawn and the colours are beautiful. Not bad, given that it is made in 1997, although I prefer animation style that is more "recent".
Sound
Nothing bad or good about it, i guess :D Everything just suits the series although there was nothing spectacular.
Story
It's quite a good romance series (better than Saikano, Kimi ga..and Narue's Seikai, methinks) One unbelievable part about the story is how far Urara is willing to go to prove her love for Touma. A bit scary, sometimes, when I see what she actually does. Touma needs a good whack on the head, sometimes, besides looking so darn handsome and with that drool-worthy bod :D. The last episode was a bit rushed, so I didn't quite like it, as Touma's feelings wasn't fully explored.
Character
Pretty girls and hot hunks with unbelivable bods *grin* Okay, besides the obvious, the characters are quite realistic, in the sense that they also face daily challenges like us. Quite a nice effort on character development.

| Excellent series. The one drawback is that it doesn't wrap everything up in the 12 (or is it 13) episodes. I hope they decide to continue it.
Anyway - being a male, romantic comedies are not my forte. But this one really had a few situations that are so true to life.
I realise some couldn't stand the male lead - But I found his character to be as real as *any* in an anime. Yes - I felt very sorry for Kasuga simply because she was so loveable...But because they made her such a strong personality, you always knew she could work through any obsticles.
And to think - this was the series that made me into an anime junkie ;)

| This anime is a good love story, and like love is in real life the characters do things because of emotions and not logic, this is why some of the reviews criticize there actions.
If you are not the romantic type and you think love should be scientifically logical you will not enjoy it.
I did.
... and about the ending. It is not an open ending, watch the last 5 min closely and ESPECIALLY THE LAST CUT BEFORE THE TITLES.

| Sakura diaries is a lot like Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien, with comedy and more school life in it. Had a surprising amount of nudity in this which the artists and creators weren’t afraid to include, giving the audience a breath of fresh air and providing somewhat of an in-between of romance and softcore hentai almost. Also another difference on this is the fact that the lead male (rounin) is very good looking and not a looser at all in fact, only in terms of studying.
I loved this series, though it didn’t end on such a high, probably because I’m not feeling very well when I watched the ending, the rest of the story was nothing short of brilliant romance. The comedy DIDN’T spoil the romance like some ecchi did. Full of drama in this and great characters, I loved almost all of them, none too annoying (at worst they were tolerable) and their emotions were expressed without difficulty and added to the drama.
The sound was a bit lacking, but I didn’t mind that, sounds funny I know to have a romance drama not needing sound and to be honest it would have been so much better with more sound tracks in it thinking about it now.
Thoroughly enjoyed this, short series which is what I love for romance drama (the other being extremely long series). This was basically aimed at boys, but I’m pretty sure that girls will like it too though maybe not as much as the boys do. For ANY romance and/or drama anime fans out there, this is a MUST, I didn’t give this as high a rating as it should have got, purely because the categories by themselves are limiting me, if I were to give an overall rating, I’d gladly award it a 9.0

| I cant give this anime a perfect 10 because there were some flaws about it. Other than that this is truly a classic in my eyes. The story is really good, about a girl falling in love with his own cousin. But a lot of people would agree with me that the main character does some stupid stuff and the way his thinking is sometimes is headed in the wrong direction. But this story is about making mistakes and realizing the feelings that take place. For a love story, i think Urara was a little too obsessed with Touma (main character). The ecchi elements didnt really add any more enjoyment, i was more interested in the story than the comedy. Actually Touma is kind of pitiful if you ask me. The ending, i kind of liked the ending the first time i watched it, but i watched it a second time after a couple years or so and i thought that they couldve closed it more. If your looking for a romance story with adult themes and real life situations, then this is a good anime to watch. Youll hate, love, and feel sorry for the characters but thats what makes this anime so good.

I think this series should add echii gene also, cause u know... the boob and tits ^^ The ending leave too many open, that is why it only get "8" in my rating

| Hmmm, what is with these implied incestual relationships with the Japanese? Better save that one for later: Sakura Diaries has one of these. Touma is a dork, Urara is even more of a dork, and Mieko is a bit of a snob. But each of them are true to who they are, and show other parts of themselves as the story progesses. Did mention that Touma is a dork? That causes much of the humor in this series. I, for one, am glad for it. Yeah, would've liked to have seen more of a definitive ending, but hey, it was fun while it lasted.
Recommended.

| The only reason these dvds ever moved off the shelf was because of the artwork on the covers.
Low budget romance from a creator who's known for his more adult work. Story tries hard not to bore, but it does. Some nakedness or sexual humor thrown in to break up the monotony: this does little to help. The story rolls into a very ambiguous ending sequence which leaves the conclusion to the mind of the viewer.

| Well Its been a while since I saw the series but after reading all reveiws I had to don one for my self...
I love this serie I hate Inaba, after I seen it I really wanted to kill him, But this is what make the series so good you realy love/hate the characters for what they do and what they are.
Urara kicks ass. I can find my self lisstening at the intro and endingtheme for an houre straight...
Some people can't see futher than Uraras tittes but this anime got so much more.
And the fact that they are cousins makes me wanna kill Inaba even more. But it makes the serie more interessting. Not in a sick way but for the strange twists and truns in the story

| Not the greatest anime I've ever seen, not the worst either. I can see how many people wouldn't like Sakura Diaries because it's closer to reality then most series. While it does throw in plenty of fanservice the show does have a real story behind it, not the greatest... but I still enjoyed it. I would have given the story a higher rating but the ending bugged me, I was left actually saying "That's it?!"

| so it was one of those 3rd rated animes that made it ok since Japan's economy was still doin good... the animation and the sound is what you'd expect from 3rd rated anime studio.. and the story was just a typical love story... well.. no.. they're cousins.. anyways... what I liked about this anime was the fact that they made characters very realistic... people who make mistakes and stumble rather than the main character is always doing the right thing and the evil characters don't even know why they're evil and they just are.. this anime has a great character development in that sense and delivers fun time infront of ur TV .. but one thing I couldn't stop grinning at was... well.. they're freaking cousins...

| At first glance this serie is nice, really funny and ecchi in a way i really like it. It also has an ok animation, the sound isn't too great maybe.
But I have never disliked a character as much as Inaba Touma! I hated him after.. well I wouldn't want to spoil the story. But anyway I have never disliked a character as much as him and i think i will never find someone worse than him! Thereby the low enjoyment score. Despite that i gave character a 6 which is decent because i liked Urara really much.
Could have been a good serie but I think i'll never find a worse character than Inaba. And the ending is a lousy one to..

| This is a pretty good series.
I'm usually not into Romantic Drama type series, but this one had a few plot twist worth menting. Touma is in a love triangle with two girl: his cousin and a hot college girl. The trouble is if he want to date the hot college chick, he must get into the same university as her. He doesn't get into Tokyo U, but he's pretending that he does so he can continue to see her. At the same time, his cousin Urara is madly in love with Touma and try to seduce him. The story get wilder and the drama build up to the final conflict. The ending left a lot to be desire for, but it's not a bad series.
The cousin thing is kinda weird, but it's very interesting watching these character react to the situation. Especially Touma who must resist his desire for his cousin, while she seduce him. Very funny crazy stuff.

| if you are looking for a good hentai, then look elsewhere. this show is NOT a hentai, despite what ADV wants you to believe.
this show is actually more of a shoujo series with a little ecchi. it is a sweet romantic comedy involving two cousins. urara has been in love with touma forever. touma is taking a college entrance exam, and goes to live with his uncle who happens to be "away". so he ends up living with urara...she's pretty happy about this. ^_^
there is a love triangle which creates some tension and excitment.
i personally don't have a problem with the whole cousin thing. if this is a turn off to you then you shouldn't watch this series.
the animation is GORGEOUS! i have always been a fan of ujin's artwork. the music is AMAZING! i love the OP and ED songs. great soundtrack!
urara is very cute. i like her a lot, and she puts up with a lot of shit...poor thing.
i recommend this HIGHLY to fans of series like love hina, or romantic comedies in general. i love this series a lot. it's in my top 10.
i agree with masj that this show deserves a much higher average rating.
i liked the ending. i would have prefered one more episode for some closure, but i thought it had a nice enough ending.
p.s. hey a. phamurai, i don't have the hots for my cousin, and i know what anime is! you don't have to be a sicko to like sakura diaries, despite what he/she thinks.
