Overall, if you don't mind watching a somewhat silly anime without wanting to worry about conflict and just watching little girls with special abilities act silly, then this one is for you. Unfortunately, their abilities seldom play a major role.

This anime consisted of 24 short episodes and 3 specials, which were all shorts as well. (In other words, 27 11-minute'ish episodes) I enjoyed this anime at first, but after the first 10 episodes it became apparent that it really had no point to it. The main plot had no part in each episode except just really explaining how the four princesses were in the human world. Despite that, the stories themselves were meant just to last one or two episodes. My biggest complaint is that they never explain why they came to the human world nor how they get money... (Although, given some of the humor, I can imagine certain ways they might).

Try "Magic Knight Rayearth" if you want to add a plot, more magic, more episodes, and tone down the silliness a little.

Remember how Narutaru's opening fooled you think that it was a light and cute children show? Magical Pokaan does the exact opposite.

While I knew that Magical Pokaan should be a wacky comedy, watching the dark and moody opening song and animation made me think that I had got a wrong series. Never fear, it was only part of the humor. Pokaan in reality is a story of four magical princesses: one of them is witch, another werewolf, third a vampire and the last one android. They have come to Earth to... well, I think there was no reason given but basically they just live their everyday life. This life however is filled with other magical creatures and strange wonders of the human world (shopping channel FTW!). This of course gives reason to many comedical occurences involving every girl's distinct personality interacting with the human world. The four of them have well-defined personalities that work well together because of their different attitudes. Yuma the witch is the small cute girl, Liru the werewolf is the energetic tomboy, Pachira the vampire is the refined lady type and Aiko the android the silent mother figure. The surreal happenings make the usual comedy nice and enjoyable.

The other aspect of Pokaan is it's fanservice. This is especially true with Liru whose doglike manners and tiny clothes leave little to the imagination. Yuma and Pachira give their share of the fanservice but thanks to their rather undeveloped bodies (Pachira is very aware of this) it doesn't have that much effect. However, some funny situation arise from their antics. Aiko has some shapes but since she's the mother figure, pictorial fanservice isn't concentrated on her. The animation of Pokaan is very clear, colorful and cute fitting the girls life well. Voice actors add to the cuteness and humor with their spirited performances. The opening love is just lovely in it's gothic drama and the endings are cute love songs from every girl.

There isn't much to story or character development in Magical Pokaan. There are some episodes that underline the friendship between them despite all the quarreling. However, things never get too serious and there's always some jokes around the corner. The series is simply a light comedy that made laugh often with its strange happenings and cute girls.

A very cute and nonconsequential comedy about a bunch of mythological misfits living in a tree house!

This show features an odd bunch in the likes of a cyborg, a witch, a vampire and a werewolf. All of whom act like normal girls in mostly normal situations and putting a twist to them with their individual quirks.

Overall, the show is very well made and it's just very entertaining even if it doesn't aim to teach its viewers anything new or aim for new storytelling heights. However, for the sheer cuteness of the girls (whether it's with sexy fanservice moments or just genuinely cute moments), the show delivers in spades. I found myself chuckling pretty consistently through the series, and that's what comedies are supposed to do.
