| Very nice anime movie ... my second time watching a moive by Gonzo and they didn't disappoint at all.
The Movie follows the fantasy formula of a boy/girl wanting to escape the harsh reality and ends up in a fantasy world where they find answers to their problems but in ways they didn't think about !!!
The animation is top notch as expected from Gonzo .. but the CG seems alittle bit out of place .. but that didn't distract from the nice character designs, vivid detailed & beautiful backgrounds.
The story & characters are the things i liked the most about this movie .. at some points the movie is your predictable fantasy fare .. but at some other points it really surprised me in a good way .. there is a nice twist in the story the enriches the movie and make the story quite unique ... so yeah .. the characters and story add to this movie a lot ( i felt very sympathizing with the main characters and their problems ) .. and the ending felt just right not too happy and not too sad ... just right ^_^
The sound effects were fine ... and the idea of using a song mid movie wasn't bad either .... but i gotta say i liked the ED song very much cause it fits the story of the movie very well .. plus .. the ending credits has a nice idea to it as well ^_^
I'd like to rewatch the movie again of course cause i think it has a nice moral message, a very well balanced story & believable characters that make sense ... recommend it to any anime fan woh wants to spend two hours watching a good piece of anime art ;)

| Yes its like an RPG where the hero has to save the world and stuff, but hey for a 2 hour movie it works quite well. The only problem is that the story skips a bit though the ending is fine. I purely enjoyed this anime.

| Brave Story is like a little kid's RPG game made into a movie. A young boy watches his family crumble apart and wishes for a way to fix it. As a result, he embarks on a magical journey to get one wish granted - as long if he manages to collect all five gems. He is sent off into an unfamiliar world and immediately gets caught up in various troubles. While the adventurous feeling is here, there are too many events that occur from start to finish to properly fit in a 2 hour movie. As a result, we don't get a very satisfying attachment to the characters nor satisfying development of various scenarios. All the events that happen are very plain in the realm of adventures (e.g., meet new people, meet bad people, get new powers). Furthermore, all characters aside from the main character are just along for the ride (just like a RPG) and don't really contribute much.
If you watch this movie from the point of view of a pure action adventure in hopes of cheap thrills, it can be decently enjoyable. Movie-level production quality mixed with a variety of sound effects makes for a more lively viewing experience. (Although I find the character design/art to be a bit plain - hence animation 7). In the end, Brave Story is a highly simplistic basic yet decently fun movie that mixes fantasy elements such as magic and dragons with unfamiliar world adventures. Probably more targeted towards younger kids, this is a movie that can be safely skipped.

| I wasn't sure what to expect with this movie since it had no previous reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Wataru, after running into a mysterious transfer student from school a few times finds that there's a lot more to the boy then an average kid. The boy, Mitsuru, disappears behind a large door, telling Wataru that he's going in order to have his wish granted. Shortly after the mystifying departure of Mitsuru, Wataru discovers that his mother has fallen ill and to compound his problems his father had recently announced that he was getting a divorce. He remembers what Mitsuru told him not long before and in order to get his family the way it used to be, follows in Mitsuru's footsteps behind the mysterious door. It leads to a different world - Vision. There he finds comrades as he begins on the quest to find five gemstones, he's told once he finds them the Goddess of Fortune will grant him a single wish...
It's a two hour long movie that has a lot of action, I can't say I was bored once while watching this movie. While it has a typical and understandably straight forward plot and stereotypical characters it non-the-less doesn't detract from the story.
It doesn't try to be more then it is by leaving any huge unexplainable plot holes or have you asking what the *point* of the whole thing was... which I find is a prevalent problem in anime movies, too much or too little information. So in my books this is likely the most enjoyable anime movie I've seen!
