| I'm in the middle of watching the TV series for The Violinist of Hamelin and as it has quite a dark and rather oppresive storyline, I thought I'd give this movie a go inbetween episodes! - more like an OVA than a movie really!
It's a lot more light hearted and a lot of fun, but only think of it as a bit of light-weight fluff!
Made 6 months before the actual TV series (not after it!) and apparantly is quite a faithful adaptation of the original manga, whereas the TV series is classed as an alternate telling of the original story.
I can say with all honesty that if the entire TV series was like this, I doubt I would be enjoying it quite as much as I am. The dark oppresive nature makes for a far more appealing piece if storytelling, when compared to this very silly, slightly zany snippet of an anime. Still the characters are fun, the animation is really good (the character design reminds me of The Slayers blended with Magic Knight Rayearth and Hamel looks like Zelgadis in his human form - rather yummy too ^__^).
This can most definitely be classed as a stand alone movie/OVA and because of the complete 180 in all the character personalities and the daft storytelling, you don't need to know anything about the TV series before watching it!

| Yikes! Watching this after the series totally caught me off guard. Comedic, random, silly, crazy... and disappointing. Instead of relying on dramatic character events in the TV series, we now toss that all aside and have some psychotic character cast who fly around doing the most random things. As if there wasn't enough of this pointless stuff out there already. Adds nothing to the storyine, not even a happily ever after addition. Kind of reminds me of some monday cartoon show that you'd watch back as a child. Not much of a movie either, only ~25 minutes long.

Having watched the series and read some of the manga this movie is a nice addition to the Violinist of Hameln saga.
It has humor, swearing and crazyness that those who read the manga will miss in the original series. Though not quite as explicit as in the manga but funny nevertheless.

| Compared to the tv show this is compleatly the opposite. The movie is comedy while the show is tragedy.This is supposed to be more like the manga wich is hilarious. The story in the movie doesnt really lead to anything wich made me give it at least a 7 for it.Though I love The Violinist of Hameln show I didnt love the movie. The animation clearly improved from the t.v show, in my opinion they should have used the better animation on the t.v show. Overall this is a funny, short 20something minute movie that has nothing to do with the t.v show.

| Compared to the TV series, this doesn't have any seriousness to it. The movie is just plain fun. I didn't find anything wrong with the animation, there were some evidence of rushed work perhaps - but it still looked good.
You don't have to watch the TV series to be able to enjoy the movie. But it would be helpful to know some characters and their personality because not much character development happens here - but you do get a sense of it.

| not as good as the anime series, and no hint of a lot of the earlier events that happened. this was more like a comedy really, and as a historical fantasy comedy, its actually funny at times, nice change to see the characters smile and joke a bit. fans of the tv series may be very disappointed at the length and also the story of this movie, but worth a watch if you liked the series

| Now this...this is more like what the Violinist of Hamlin manga had in mind. Though I would rather our hero have jumped down from the building (if you've read the manga..) then climbing down. Anyways, it was still very funny =D It's a shame though that people dont like it cause it doesn't follow the TV show. It's supposed to be like what the original story wanted the characters to be like. Sadly though, it was only 30 minutes long.

| Story-wise, not as good as the TV. But for people who are desparate to see the charas actually move, it's great. It won't be as good for those who haven't read the manga or watched the show, but is still moderately funny and enjoyable nonetheless.

| As much as I love the series.. I did not like the movie. I read that most people like the movie better.. I do not understand why. Anyways, the movie is trying to be funny but it's not. The movie is very similar to the game on snes, where you can dress up flute can use her as a weapon. They made hamel very annoying. I suggest that you try the series before the movie or else you won't believe how good the series is gonna be.
