| I didnt know that anime ever existed until some years ago the British TV show ''Outthere'' showed 2 scenes from this movie (that with the spider woman and the other with the melting woman). When I saw these scenes I thought the anime would be good. I saw it recently and have to say that only these two scenes were worth during the film.

| I guess I should have known that this anime would be knee deep in sexual scenes and violence from the title, but I rented it on impulse anyway.
I rented it without any prior knowledge of knowing what the Hell it might be. I didn't quite like it at all and it is probably the worst anime I have seen to date.
If there is anyone in the world that rates Wicked City at 8 or above you should punch them and ignore every opinion they have on anything.

| Wicked City was an anime movie that really suprised me. I picked it up used at a local gamestop because I had nothing else to watch at the time. As such I wasn't expecting much more then a time killer. However it heald my interest throughout, with a well put together if strange story. If you want to know more about this hidden gem read on.

| Wicked City is an anime with a lot of violence and sex scenes. This characteristic could be a strong point of this movie, because the could create an adult story with good action sequences and an interesting story. In my opinion, this didn`t happen.
The narrative plot is weak, altough the original idea was good. The action sequence are not directed the right way...they don`t have a good rhythm and they seem too short to involve the spectator.
I didn`t like the soundtrack, but the sound effects are discrete.
The characters are interesting, but the story doesn`t support them. We don`t have enough information about them, and they become too flat.
I consider this anime only mediocre. The only thing that I liked is the animation: very good for its age (except some sequences).

| Fairly average for a horror/sci-fi anime. Had some mature content to it, so I can‘t recommend it to the younger audience. I was thinking that the story was too linear and had some average moments during the whole movie. Story was mostly involved with a lot of suspense, and had that “cool and content” kind of main character. It tends to move at real slow paced during some points, but than later had some exciting moments to keep you occupied. The majority of the exciting scenes had that “Ninja Scroll” feel to it, which isn‘t bad to it as the plot gets really thin. The animation was fine in its time, and the music is had a somewhat eerie feeling to it. Although it doesn’t have much value for a re-watch, definitely see it if you are mostly into the horror genre itself.

| hroughout history the Earth and the demon realm have known of each other's existence. A peace treaty between the two dimensions has lasted for centuries, but now a rogue group is trying to stop the renewal. An agent of Earth and a female agent of the Black World must work together to protect a key figure.
Back in the days of the Sci-Fi channel classics, Wicked City was quite something. These were the days when Iria, Armitage, Dominion Tank Police, Akira, Ninja Scroll, Record of Lodoss War, and Vampire Hunter D dubs seemed to be cutting edge animation. To Sci-Fi's credit, at the time they were. The Sci-Fi channel did amazing things for anime in the US, and to this day anime geeks still hold fond memories of their favorites.
We've come a long way since then however, and fond memories don't always make for the best shows. While many of the above list are still very much classics, Wicked City has aged rather badly. From the creator of Ninja Scroll, Wicked City feels almost like the exact same cast but merely in a different setting. More so than Ninja Scroll, this anime is violent, dark, and even borderline hentai. Definitely for mature audiences, and only if you've got a strong stomach for the weird.
A dashing playboy agent of the Earth teams up with a perfectly beautiful woman of the Black World, and together they must protect a highly perverted old diplomat of sorts who is vital to the peace treaty signing. While this all seemed well and good once, just the square jaw look of the main character places this firmly in the B-Movie category these days. It's still fun if you enjoy corny movies, and the several softcore scenes throughout give it a bit of unique charm and keep things rather interesting.

| I thought this was a nice example of a dark anime story. Although the pace is slower than the standard today, the plot twist and the idea for the story is good. The two characters could have had more depth but it is obviously a choice the makers made in order to preserve the alien feeling of that world. I think it is good to watch. Reasonably good and nice fighting scenes.

| A bit too similar to Ninja Scroll but they were both still great animes in their own right. The ending's a bit cheesy but I still enjoyed it. The eroticism thrown into the plot didn't just seem tedious and obligatory (as many other animes) but actually quite tasteful and stylish. Although I did wish that the leading lady, Makie, looked a bit more realistic. But then again, Taki is too handsome to be true so perhaps fantasy is warranted to a certain degree. Overall, definitely a show worthing watching.

| SIMILAR TO: Monster City (aka Demon City)
This instantly became my favourite anime movie the first time I saw it. Of course, that was a while ago, and my feelings have changed somewhat.
It's such a cool movie - loads of unabridged violence and gore and monsters and sex and blah blah blah.
The only thing that tarnishes it now tho is it seems a little dated. Someone who hasn't seen much anime would definately watch this and think it amazing; but those of us who are used to seeing a higher anime standard may dismiss this to an extent. I reckon everyone should watch this tho as it provides a benchmark for this style of monster-violence-gore anime film. (Until of course, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust came along.)
The visuals, whilst dated now, are unresticted, and handled with a cool slickness.
The sound, whilst being the most dated technical flaw of the movie, still serves it well enough for it to be enjoyed.
The story has some excellent ideas and the film works with them as best it can. I would have loved a sequel, or even a series to have been launched after this film.
The characters are top notch, and whilst a little bit predictable at times, they all fit together well.
The replay value is would be higher if the techincals were less dated. But I would still watch this again nevertheless.
Overall, I enjoyed this movie thoroughly and still remember the feeling I got when I first saw it: awsome. Being older and more mature now, my taste has diverged to other likes, but I still appreciate the memories from this movie. Go watch it now.

| I think that this anime had a lot of potential, but it seems that there was more of an emphasis on sex & nudity than plot. This anime is at the border-line of not being hentai. I thought it was ok, but it would have been more enjoyable for others had there been more of an emphasis on the story-line, and less on the sex scenes. It is actually a litte bit comedic with the old pervert who resembles the old guy from Ninja Scroll. But because of the dark setting of this anime, the comic-relief he delivers really isn't all that funny.

| Sounds like nobody really knows when this anime came out, this is the third website i check that has the anime date in 1987, the other one had 1992 and another one had 1982. I go with either, but thats not what im here for, im here to introduce you, one of the bloodiest, graphic(est), most explicitly detailed OVA after perhaps Angel Cop, but i think this is much worse (and 2 years according to this website, older). From rape, to tentacles to women and men turning in and out into different monsters, what would you expect from what would be one of the most sadistic directors in history. Wicked city is very detailed, and all around creepy. I will concider it adult, yes, because it is, and anyone who would disagree didnt watch this movie closely. Not for the weakminded, not for the adult fan, and not for anyone who would expect this OVA to be short of gore. ITS NOT.

| One of the first anime my friend let me borrow when I got into anime. And to say the least, this was not a very good film. I don't judge anime harshly if they're old, but this one looked like nonsensical violence and sex to me. Surprised that it was done by Madhouse, because even if some of their future films would lack solid storylines, they'd always have some "wicked", well animated action scenes. This doesn't. The concept with the demon and human world being bound in a contract that is about to expire is intriguing, but not much is done with it. Outside of the old man (hey, I always find leacherous old men in anime funny), I didn't care for any of the characters. They were too busy having sex or being chased around by demons. Frankly, I can't recommend this to anyone.

| Es ist zwar schon ziemlich lange her das ich diesen Movie gesehen habe doch auch heute erinnere ich mich daran wie schlecht und eintönig dieses Machwerk doch war. Ich versteh selbst nicht wie dieser Movie zu einer meiner ersten Animemovies werden konnte (immerhin neben Akira und GITS). Der Movie setzt auf billige Sexszenen die allerhöchstens Softcore sind und das übliche Actiongemetzel mit der nur allzugut bekannten Szenerie "Schleimige Monster gegen den absoluten Hero aus den Menschenreihen". Sehr einfallslos und vor allem sehr sehr ermüdend. Diesen Anime kann man getrost im Regal stehen lassen und sollte sich stattdessen nach etwas sinnvollerem umschauen.
