I'm not so sure I would class this as a movie really, as it's only 20 minutes long, it's more like an extra episode that was decided upon inbetween the Dark Tournament and the next arc in the Yu Yu Hakusho TV series.
It was quite interesting, but not what I was expecting (and I didn't really know what to expect from any of the Yu Yu Hakusho movies ^_^).

Ultimately a pretty pointless movie. I can't believe the average is 5 (oh wait... just noticed... there's only 2 reviews here, that might be why LOL) - it's pointless, but it wasn't THAT bad... A bit of an episodic Yu Yu Hakusho story... except Yu Yu Hakusho the series wasn't that episodict to begin with. that's probably why this feels so weird in comparison. It's hard to believe how powerful the enemy in it is too. I mean, it seems to me this was after the dark tournament story arc, so Yusuke should have been able to wipe the floor with most of the people around. It was a pretty dull anime. The appearance of Kurama and Hiei, though predictable, did breathe a little life into the anime... nothing like seeing those cool characters in action again ;) The comedy relief was pretty funny. But other than this. I recommend you steer clear of this... nothing to see here, really. This anime just about scrapes a 6/10. If you round the numbers up that is.

It’s just an additional viewing from the TV episodes. You also have to be familiar with the characters, because they won't explain it during the whole story. Kind of mixed with humor and action for a movie. Lord Koenma gets kidnapped and the team has to go and rescue him and the Golden Seal that was also taken from the I saw this one subtitle and it seemed so average, nothing too great. But then left it by having more action with a lesser plot on it. The animation and music is also has that similarity to the series. I wouldn’t really have my hopes on this one though, because everything in this didn’t add anything new, just left the way it was and expected in what you’ll think will happen through the previous storyline. If you already watched most of the series and really loved it, you might like it, maybe not if you expect something of an improvement. The reason why the enemy stole the Seal was rather humorous from the end of it. Other than that, not much of a value that can makes itself a good stand alone movie. If you are new to YuYu Hakusho series, just watch the original version only when you have the chance, because it’s a little better than this one.

Well if more people review this anime they would say that the second movie is better then the first, and they would be right. But I recommend to watch this one first since it happens before the second movie. But if you haven't seen Yu Yu Hakusho you'll most likely be confused. Their's no introduction for characters and most of the time you see them running around and helping King Enma. One thing good about this is that Botan is "actually" useful!
