| The problem with reviewing older anime's is that people forget that the graphics are not as good as what you see today. This is why you see the animation getting sporadic scores.
This is a very very high quality anime but people might struggle to find it that way.
And here is why...

| While certainly not the worst thing I've ever seen (the third Project A-Ko OVA *shudder*) it's far from being the best. It is, to put it bluntly, excedingly mediocre. Much like the series that precedes and follows this, the whole movie seems off. Not really tense enough to be a thriller. Not really funny enough to be a comedy. Not really action packed enough to be an action movie. I can't seem to find a way to explain this very well, but for the entire movie I couldn't shake the sense that there was something missing. Like the big payoff was just around the corner. That things were just about to get interesting. But no. It ended, and that was it. I really wanted to like this movie, and the rest of the YUA series for that matter, but it's just so amazingly average in a dull way that I just can't see giving it much more than an average rating.

| Well actually the movie came in 1999 and TV-2 was amde 2001 so this site has it backwards. The movie is very well made and compared to the series the use of fluid movement and shadow make the animation close to perfect. We have all the characters present give or take, and a good plot involving mystery and conspericy. Watch this after series 1 not after series 2.
Enjoy.

| Having now seen all of the YUA installments, I can honestly say I was supprised with the YUA movie. More like an episode of the television series Law and Order then a story from You're Under Arrest, the movie takes a dip into the more serious aspects of the police world then the slap-stick comedy\action that we're used to seeing in the TV series and OVA's.
All the characters, save the scooter lady and strike man, are in the movie and are doing something which is nice. Everyone's personalities are carried over from the series, as almost every other aspect of the movie. At one point I got very excited at the prospect of a rendition of the shoot-out in the movie Heat, where a terrorist team assaults Bokuto Station. The shoot out cool for the most part, but it was kina lame how the terrorists got beat by paintball guns -_-
The movie ends well, although I think the conflict was resolved a little too fast, and a little too easy. This takes place about a year after the end of the first TV series, and before the second, if you want to watch the whole thing in order of events. All in all I had a great time watching.

| An excellent movie.
The same guy who did Ah my goddess I believe, did this very different anime. I havent seen the series, and while having some moments of joyous silliness, it is a rather gritty and realistic anime (ok not really) This director obviously likes machinery, because all the devices andvehicles are amazingly detailed. Another plus is the characters. They are all quite likeable, and overall I really enjoyed this movie.

| The movie is perhaps the most serious storyline YUA has to offer. Besides the comedy theme, the movie portrays the realistic situations in which police officers face. This movie also marks the transition of YUA animation (cute animeish design) to a more mature, realisitc design. I admit, I still miss Mr. Kosuke Fujishima's artwork, the best of the best.

| I am quite surprise this anime didn't have much review about it. I myself have only seen the second season and haven't seen the first one. So, i think this anime is after the first season coz Saori is not in it. Overall, i love this anime series a lot especially the love relationship between Nakajima and Kobayakawa. This anime has a good story line..reminds me of Die Hard where the bad guys make a fool of the police. Worth watching even though the fansub i got has only passable animation quality.

| Not quite what one would expect of YUA. The policewoman duo are thrust into a serious storyline that differs greatly from the typical fun and laughter of the series.
Solid sound and animation, great theme song. Nice action, too.
Good, but not as enjoyable given the detraction from the usual style of the anime series.

| I'm in complete opposal of what Mappy the Mouse said on this anime. And just for the record i have the whole You're Under Arrest seires meaning everything from the OVA to NO MERCY!.
The main story is mildy interesting and confusing. The animation is still top class and the music is prretty good with the movie theme song CALLING!

| Normally I would regard myself as a fan of the "You're Under Arrest" series. I have most series in my collection in one form or another, and that includes this movie.
And somewhat painful is it for me to declare that I don't think the movie is much cop (pardon the pun).
I sometimes wonder why movies are made, based on certain tv series, especially when said series does not really translate that well onto the big screen.
With YUA, they tried to go the Patlabor route and it just doesn't work. The series setup is just too "small people" for something as dramatic and "big world" as for what passes through the film.
You only have to see the clash of philosophy in the scene within the Bokuto Station lobby, where the criminals, having attacked the station in nothing short of a terrorist operation, are taken on by Arizuka, Yoriko, Aoi and the front desk bimbos with what amounts to paint guns. Powerful ones, mind you, but still....
The animation is only just an improvement over the original oav series, and far better than much of the first tv series, but that is understandable. The music is merely adequate, too.
YUA was never meant to be cutting edge anime, but this movie tries it on and it just doesn't fit.

| There are many tv-animes which have movie spin-off, most of them are done horribly but this one shows that tv-anime-turn-movie can be done in a good way.

| Very enjoyable movie, which finds the standard YUA crew facing a far more dangerous situation than they usually do.

| For the fans, but still a well-rounded action piece. Miyuki and Natsumi are back, and they are up against a dangerous conspiracy from arms dealers and ex-cops.
