| Ever imagined a anime version of "The Fast and the Furious"? Well, if there was one, it'd probably be something similar to this.
This anime is about cars. Cars, gangsters, and more cars. All the action centralises around fast and furious car chases down the highway, or the main character doing some incredible things with his incredible car to get him out of what seem to be impossibly tight spots.
But, although it's an action film revolved this "Roadbuster" guy and his amazing car, the plot is surprisingly... well, surprising. With plenty of ingenious twists and turns of the plot that was certainly enough to keep my me guessing what was going to happen next.
There were a few points during the anime did seem like the producers couldn't make up their mind what kind of anime to make this. I one point, I thought the anime was going to be hentai, but the moment passed without amounting to anything. And at the end, the action was also a little TOO over the top. I mean, this Roadbuster guy was causing carnage as though he was superman.
I gathered from the other reviews around here that this was the "prototype" Gunsmith Cats. I can certainly see the resemblence in style and setting, and also with the out of place fanservicing. The general opinion going around appears to be that Gunsmith Cats was superior to its predecessor. Well, I have to disagree here. I found Gunsmith Cats slightly stale, and not really standing out in anyway. But this had a much more nifty plot and the action scenes gets the adrenalin pumping a lot faster. A well spent hour I'd say.

| Pretty decent, it just had a very good main character from the series. The story wasn't too bad either, which had some fine action on it. Bean may have been known to ba a criminal due to his own popularity, but he was mostly good at heart when having his intentions of helping the kid who was in trouble during the story. And he tend to also have a short temper from his own persona which made that guy even more hilarious. It also had some those wild car chases and some clever moments on it similar to the Gunsmith cats series. Something which I thought was quite memorable.

| A very cool, if not short anime about a speeding, tough as nails main character named 'bean' and his partner. Bean is a excellent anime for those who think all anime is boring and porn like. It's short, has plenty of action and tells an interesting short story. It is a bit older, but that doesn't detract from the classic action it brings. Also...the fact that bean seems to be neigh-indestructable is fun too. ^_^

| Riding Bean is the work which eventually lead to Gunsmith Cats. Unfortunately this 45 minute one shot sucks. To make matters worse, I had to watch it dubbed. For an earlier OVA, the animation holds though the actual character designs (aside from Bean) bore or just plain look ugly. To make matters worse, the story blows. To be frank, if it wasn't for the Gunsmith Cats OVA/Manga, I would have cut my losses ten minutes in.

| I dont understand all thee negative reviews. Its designed to be a quick and fun chase film with some action on the side. Its not ment to be realistic (anime rearly is) and its not ment to be an in-depth story... as a short action flick its great.
If any one has seen the film "The Transporter" which is fairly recent, I would say it compares to that in some ways. Bean transports anything for money and does not ask questions, but gets caught up in a double cross situation, with a persistant cop chasing after him...

| Riding Bean ist mehr was für Fans von simpler Action und schnellen Autos. Für damalige Verhältnisse sind die Animationen ok und auch der Soundtrack lässt hier und da gut mitwippen. Stellenweise ist Riding Bean auch ganz witzig auch wenn die Gags nicht sonderlich vom Hocker reissen. Die Story ist ziemlich simpel und weniger interressant aber wie gesagt: Wer Action+Cars mag ist hier sicherlich gut beraten.

| Made in the late 1980's, Riding Bean harkens back to the old days of hyper violent anime. Created by Sonoda Kenichi (Gunsmith Cats) the story follows Bean, a hot shot car driver that will work for anyone, and his gun wielding partner Rally Vincent (of Gunsmith Cats fame). The single 40 minute episode focuses on the kidnapping of young rich girl, and the plot to set Bean up for the crime. Beautifully animated car chases and gun battle abound as Bean uses his hard boiled tactics to survive and extract his revenge. Fans of action anime should check this one out, and while it's a bit old (the 80's music cracked me up) it still manages to deliver a fun time.
