| Based off of 20 episodes:
Thus far, Akazukin Chacha is a very cute and funny anime, with a wild gang of crazy characters that make each episode exciting. Each episode relies heavily on the same formula. In a way similar to Ranma, each character (the students of the magic school as well as the adults) has some sort of love interest that conflicts with everyone else's. As a result, each episode inevitably leads to some sort of wacky situations that makes for hilarious scenes.
One problem of Akazukin Chacha is its repetitiveness. The episodes are hit or misses - some are amazing and I can watch them over and over again for its sheer brilliance. Other episodes are horribly boring and star a very lame evil villain. For these first few episodes, basically various characters are introduced, various characters fight over the same love interest, some villain is sent in to get rid of Chacha (very cute girl), and because Chacha is a very klutzy magician, manages to mess everything up, including the villain's plans! Again, some situations are funny, and some suck.
Anyway, I found this anime to be pretty fun, but not engaging enough to watch through all 74 episodes. There are many better animes out there - many that actually have a storyline and actually connect one episode directly to another. However, if you are a fan of Ranma style presentation, where each episode is essentially independent of the others, then Akazukin Chacha is a very funny and cute humor anime that is sure to make you laugh.

| Highly recommended comedy, in other words if you want a funny anime watch this! A funny anime where you actually laugh possibly even roll on the floor laughing (literally). akazukin cha cha = comedy
My review is all straight 10's, just read my review for the justifications. this anime is a CLASSIC!!!
This is such a fun anime to watch whether you are a kid or an adult, it really works on both levels because of its smart comedy.
I first saw this anime as a kid (6-8 yrs old) and I loved it and now i'm older but I still love it, it's still funny.
I must say it is still funny to this day, surpassing any ridiculously popular anime that's "supposed to be hilarious" by a MILESTONE. you just have to see this anime to believe it. A must-see CLASSIC for comedy fans.
I would say it starts off okay but then builds up into a show you'll really look forward to watching, like other users have said you have to see a really funny ep before you say it's too childish, etc. Such eps would be 19, 8, 4, 18, 7, 5 , 25, 62 & 61 (once you've seen 6 and 19), and much more. Do not judge this anime by the first ep, it gets MUCH MUCH funnier.
the review that said this anime is entirely too happy, must have seen only a few eps cause it does have its fair share of sad/touching/dramatic moments/episodes (speicifcally with shiine)

| This anime is one of the funniest I have encountered...not to mention my first ever anime... It is all about a little witch chacha who's dressed up like a lil' riding hood who's given magical powers to protect herself and her friends. Akazukin chacha focuses on the childish aspects, enjoyment and puppy love factors that little children like. Being an anime released in the year 1994, it still can capture attention of viewers such as myself and not merely little children.... Overall, this anime is a thumbs up!

| Very childish anime but really funny.
The main point in this anime are the characters and the stupid and childish humor.. there are some "sailor moon" transformation but they are only seconds ;-)
Chacha : Is quite idiot and with a good-heart.
Shiine : I hate it, anyways who care about it. he fell in love with cha-cha.
Riiya (werewolf-boy) :He also love chacha and chacha love he.. a true love or a pet love?.
Seravi :Seravi is the sensei-like-father of chacha, he's a quiet and good person BUT always carry a really sarcastic and annoying doll called Elizabeth ;-)
and a lot more characters.

| I remember watching this back at Cartoon Network a few years ago, back then it was the only anime aired by cartoon network. What really stood out in Akazukin ChaCha were the characters because each and everyone of them were very different and I personally could not resist loving them from Chacha to Miss. Dorothy to Marin and practically almost everyone of the characters, even that long haired teacher of theirs with the whips. xD
Although some aspects are sort of similar to sailormoon like the transformation sequence and the magical princess must defeat the evil bad guy. However I consider them as mostly only minor issues with show and the characters are enough for me to make up for some of the problems with the show. ^^

| This is one of the funniest Anime series I've ever watched! It's even better than Tenchi Muyo in the sense of funniness. I especially like the characters of this Anime. They are so cute, yet not childish or girlish. They are the best examples of "kawaii" characters.
This series is about the misadventures of magic apprentices Chacha, Riiya, and Shiine. Chacha is an apprentice witch taught by wizard Seravy. She is pretty good with magic but often mixes up her spells with some funny results. Chacha also has a magic pendant, bracelet, and ring that when used together allows her to transform into a Magical Princess with a magic bow. Riiya is a werewolf who can change without a full moon. He is very strong but his werewolf form is often mistaken for an adorable puppy. Shiine is an apprentice wizard taught by witch Dorothy. He is instantly smitten by Chacha which causes a rivalry with Riiya. Working in the shadows is a sorcerer king who has a grudge against Seravy and Chacha and sends out his minions to make mischief against them each episode.
An excellent series for most all ages. A very funny, light hearted show that's fun to watch. Worth mentioning is that the 'Magical Princess' part luckily (or unluckily, depending) lasts for a few minutes at the end of the episodes. All in all, excellent series.

| *Watched the first "season" (26 episodes)*
To my surprise, such a show managed to capture my attention for at least the first season. Though I like cute anime, cuteness alone can only last for so long before I get bored. Akazukin Chacha is cute, but at the same time it's funny and entertaining. I liked the characters quite a bit, which is more than can be said for some of the other anime I've watched (I feel kind of sorry for Marine and Yakko, though). There are aspects of Akazukin Chacha that I didn't like, but they can be said for shoujo anime in general, so I guess it's not Akazukin's problem.
Quite an interesting and entertaining anime.

| It's pretty amazing when a children's anime has more entertaining qualities then most adult oriented tv shows made in the US. Akazukin Cha Cha is a suprisingly smart comedy series that is laden with cultural jokes, word plays, and takes from other anime series such as Hime-chan no Ribbon and Cutey Honey. The characters are charming and become the focus of the show as Cha Cha and her friends go on aventures ranging from the school dance, to saving the magic kingdom from darkness, to the romance between her master Seravy and Dorothy.
Cha Cha is a long series, 74 episodes, but unlike some shows that seem to die out after the major conflict is resolved, Cha Cha keeps it's momentum untill the very last episode. Cha Cha will leave a lasting impression on me as one of the most suprising and worthwhile comedies ive been able to see.

| I love the humourous (and very childish) manga series very much, but don't really like the transformation girl type of show which this anime is. Most likely, the animators think all good anime must have a super bad villain... and little shoujos like magical girl transformations.... The humour is mostly based on puns.

| It is a very much underrated show! But I must admit the quality from each episode varies a whole lot. People give really low rating probably watch the bad episode. IMHO, the better episodes are the later one after the daimaoh (evil master) is destroyed. However, some early episodes are quite well-done as well (but please, by all mean fast forward the transformation part); for example: episodes 4,6,8 are hilarious. The middle episodes are in general less interesting, whereas there are some real classic moment in the later episodes like 61,62,67,70,72. If you only want to try one episode, I highly recommend 67 or 70.

| I really loved this series back then.
comparing it's animation style with those of today would be unfair coz it was rather well animated. the cast of charactors are so cute and adorable, and their speech and actions are really funny. the story of friendship and good triump over evil maybe be overused but hey, with such different individuals in the show itself, you'll never get bored.
the opening and ending theme songs for the few seasons are really nice as well. the first opening song was sung by SMAP if i'm not wrong.
i really wish i can get this series on fansub with a good encode if possible coz it really brings back the old memories. : )

| +: It's really funny.
-: Forced elements hamper the anime.
Despite what you may think, Akazukin Cha Cha/Red Riding Hood Cha Cha is not the anime/manga version of Little Red Riding Hood. If it was, Riiya-kun would eat Cha Cha-chan, as he turns into a wolf. Hee hee.
Well, what can I say? The anime is that funny. I don't know how I was able to watch an English dub of this series while I was staying in the Philippines. Maybe it was done by Filipino actors? Never the less, the anime is funny. Sure it's for kids and yeah, the animation is a bit outdated, but I liked it. The characters are fun to watch and they make the series go. You have your puns and such and they give you that warm feeling. Oh and before I forget, this is the first anime of Suzuki Masami as she plays as Cha Cha-chan and one of the boys of S.M.A.P., Katori Shingo plays as Riiya-kun.
While I enjoy how Cha Cha-chan transforms into a girl that totally looks like Minako/Venus, fans of the manga (in which I have sadly never read, though I heard of it) will most likely be let down that there is a magic girl element involved. The anime was forced to have this element because you have to remember that this is a 1994 series and guess what shoujo series was popular at the time? Sailor Moon. If it needed attention, it had to mimic its competition to some extent, in which it did. Now, because of this, it carries some of the good and bad parts about Sailor Moon. The only difference is that this doesn't drag on for 200 or so episodes, though it still drags on a bit and you see repetition, but it is not as frequent as Sailor Moon.
Not everyone will like Akazukin Cha Cha. If you want a serious series, look elsewhere. If you want a light-hearted, fun comedy, then this is up your alley.

| Another magical girl show, but way funnier. It's animation may not be so great, but the puns and comical faces plus witty and cute characters and something you might call a love tree rather than just a triangle, this anime has potential. Sometimes it made me just fall off my shair and laugh. The whole "defeat the bad guy" was a bit repetetive, but the later episodes were minus the "super hero" and made the anime more enjoyable. I could defenitely see why the manga went on for so long, since the whole "good vs. evil" was not part of it. If magical girls aren't your thing, don't watch it.

| This show is WONDERFUL. Yet another example how shows made for Japanese children tend to be consistently funnier than most shows made in the US, for adults or children. The wacky humor level is high, with a Ranma-style group of kids with overlapping loves, loyalties, and over-the-top personalities. And some episodes just misfire, with the jokes and humorous situations just not working (the 2nd appearance of Que, the vampire, is a good example ... the first one being hysterical, and the 2nd being completely lame).
Also, it's a magical girl show, so I'm sure some people will be put off by the fact that every episode, essentially, ends with Chacha becoming the Magical Princess and blowing away the enemy. Well, that's not what makes the show hilarious ... it's what's before! That's what fast forward is for, and I recommend this show incredibly highly.

| Yes, it's another magical girl show, and yes, it's target audience is children. But it's still fun! ^__^ Specially the last episode. It's hilarious! It's something to watch if you're looking for something lighthearted and funny.

| This is one of the funniest shows I've seen in a while. On the surface, this show seems to be just another conventional magical girl show but don't let that fool you. There is a constant stream of jokes, sight gags and puns that had me laughing out loud through each episode.
