| I really love this manga, it is the only manga i read about 10 times over and made parodies about, using photoshop.
What i love about hikaru no go, is that you see a kid growup into a fine male. He gives his entire future up, for a dream. The dream of becomming the best go player in the world. What is so good about this story is that, it has everything, it is funny at times, sad, optimistic, encouraging, and it makes you think a little bit different about life.
When I finished reading this, the ending was a bit of a dissapointment, however, I didn't feel that I wasted my time, No I felt touched, by an amazing story.

| Hikaru No Go (HNK) started out pretty well. It quickly introduces rivals and good plots, without stalling too much. And everything was good. Then, they started to drag out the whole "I'm gonna catch up to him" thingy, and the manga starts to get really annoying/repetitive. Sure, rivals come and go, but it doesn't address the main issue. As a reader, I was hoping that it would be resolved soon, but even till the very end, it wasn't.
Also, another complaint I have about the series is its horrible plot construction and anti-climatic, unsatisfying ending. Like I said earlier, the manga was doing well, and even when it dragged on about the main character trying to get better/stronger, I was fine with that. But the abrupt ending makes me wonder: Why make me read 18 volumes of manga for such an ending? What happened to all the character development (done quite well with all the dragging on)? What happened to all the built-up tension/climax? It's ironic how the mangaka (whose first 20 volumes of HNK made me hooked) could destroy how I feel/think of the whole series in just 3 measly volumes.
So do I recommend this manga? Definitely, as long as you do not read the last few volumes, unless you do not expect any closure or satisfying ending. Let's just say it left a really bitter after taste in my mouth.

| The way i got interested in Hikaru No Go was through a wallpaper... I first thought.. the manga should be kind of boring.. a Go game ? o_O but i was always amazed of the wonderful drawings .. so i read some of the manga online, and then downloaded all the manga by torrent! i got real obsessed. The awsome art (Takeshi Obata) and the way a Go manga story turns fun...(Yumi Hotta) ..
This is a really really interesting manga. If you still think Naruto and Bleach are the only good mangas... Please shut up and start reading Hikaru No Go. There are some other great mangas out there... you just gotta go and search!

| In the rock-em, sock-em genre of shounen, this comic stands out for its gentleness, and the complexity of its characters. They are deeply involved with one another, and each has a weak point in his/her makeup which is improved by associating with a "good crowd". Sometimes, "weak points" turn out to be massive strengths, so be ready for surprises. The artwork is very clean and detailed, and no matter what you read elsewhere, a detailed knowledge of Go is not required in order to enjoy this excellent work. You will learn without pain as you read.

| Frankly, the best sports manga I've ever seen. I'm looking forward to the anime as the manga drives me to watch it. ;)

| One of my fav. mangas ever!! I would have never thought that a story about a board game would be soo interesting!! A great story, wonderful characters, and the art's excellent!! An veryy enjoyable manga!!

| I LOVE this mange it's one of my all time favorites, i came by it accidentlly to ,iwas looking for somthing compeletlly different. When some suggested this and said they thought i'd like it and they told me it was about a board game.i thought "yeah right" until i read and became addicted^_^

| Who the hell would want to read a manga about the game of Go?
Thats what I thought before reading Hikaru No Go. Honestly, I really didn't even know what Go was until reading the manga and watching the anime.
Hikaru No Go manages not only to entertain , but inform about the world of Go.

| Very well done. The ending is kind of disappointing, but it gives a deeper meaning to the manga. EXTREMELY enjoyable if you understand and actually play go.

| It just goes to show that a good story and well done character development can do for any manga.
You don't have to understand Go, but you do need to understand to read.
Very good, a MUST read.

| No action whatsoever but the story keeps the interest on. Its amazing how just watching people put stones on a board (I dont know how to play go ^_^;) gets so exciting through this manga.

| I don't think any book ever has made me emotionally fragile before. This manga made me quiver with excitement a couple times. The amazing thing about that is the fact that the entire thing is about a board game. If that doesn't speak volumes about this manga's value, I'm not sure what does.
