| Mahou Tsukai Tai is an ecchi comedy with a grounding in high school love triangles. The action is mostly a backdrop. Aliens have invaded, but for some odd reason, they just walk around the streets and leave people alone. In any case, a high school magic club believes that they are the only ones who can stop these aliens. Being high school kids, sometimes they think a little bit more about their love interests than the task at hand...
High school love dramas can be nauseating, but this OVA keeps it pretty light hearted and cute. Everything about it is cute. There's no real villains, or tensions caused by any negative emotions (anger, hatred etc). It's always honey and sugar, but it can occasionally be touching as well.
Mahou Tsukai Tai plays on simple empathy to reach your heart strings. The main character, Sae, is an inarticulate, uncoordinated klutz who is determined to better herself. Every time she was filled with self doubt, I really felt for her. Sae isn't a complex character, but she isn't without her intricacies. Throughout the OVA, Sae goes through cycles of self doubt, and doing her best. You'll often see these cycles overlap, and it's hard to resist watching the hero/heroine try their best even when they doubt themselves. Sae's klutzyness is taken to an extreme, and as an aspect of her character as well as a reused comedy gag, it does get tiresome by the end of the OVA. The rest of the characters are a lot simpler than Sae, and they're palatable supporting characters. The supporting characters have pretty simple personalities, and they're generally motivated by 1 simple thing (usually, their love interest). None of the characters feel completely fresh, but they're effective, and not TOO played out.
The BGMs are orchestrated pieces, and most of the tracks that stand out are either cheery and upbeat like the opening theme, or mellow and pleasantly relaxing like the closing. The music is refreshing, and it adds a layer to both the comedy and the touchy-feely scenes.
The weakest part of Mahou Tsukai Tai is the story. It's semi-coherent in both the alien invasion and the high school love triangles, but I can't help but feel that its really just a backdrop. There are no interesting plot developments. Luckily, the lack of a really intriguing plot won't hamper your enjoyment of this excellent OVA. Most of the fun comes from watching the character interactions and Sae.
The animation feels pretty organic, and it's of a general high quality. The comic animations are somewhat unique and they give the comedy a little more flare.
Mahou Tsukai Tai doesn't have any themes that really hit me. Escaping the ordinary in FLCL, letting go and moving on in Niea_7, and the Nostalgia in Kumo no Muko, these are all themes that immediately grabbed my attention. Even so, MTT is pure fun, and it's easily one of my favorites.

| The one thing Magic Users Club doesn't lack is comedy, add to that the naughty ecchi scenes, fun characters and interesting take on alien invasion and you've got the recipe for a fun and very entertaining anime ^__^

| This anime is one of the funniest harem comedy I've ever seen. This is the direct result of such a likable and eccentric cast of characters with a great chemistry, and outstanding seiyuus. Though this anime does not neccessarily break all the molds of the streotypical Harem anime, it still is one of the best among the genre.
The cast of characters in this anime is probably one of the funniest i've ever seen. From perverted Takeo who always bluffs to Sae who always trys her best this anime is filled with characters that you can attach yourself to. My absolute favorite has to be aburatsubo who trys to steal Takeo's heart and he is a male. The characters are one sided but that is perfect for this anime. Everyone is not looking for revelation, but just doing what they have to do as the story progresses.
What creates this brilliant chemistry has to be the seiyuus. all the seiyuus are so fantastic and infuse so much personality to the characters. My favorite again is the seiyuu for aburatsubo. He is absolutely brilliant in every situation.
The story now is rather linear. There's aliens called bell and the magic club tries to defeat it because Takeo bluffed that i would defeat them. There really isn't any plot turns or anything of that sort, but this is 6 episode OVA. At the end this is a enjoyable story without too much depth that everyone can enjoy and i'm fine with that.
The presentation would be it's weak point. Though character designs and setting design were rather nice, the colors felt a little bit out of the mood for me. For anime bright as this i would expect vibrant colors that are rich in hue, but the animation is something that you would see in mahoromatic and i didn't like animation in it either.
The OP and ED aren't anything special but backgorund music and SFX are worthy of mentioning. They create perfect mood for every situation in this anime.
At the end this is something very enjoyable. Great chemistry between the characters realized through brilliant seiyuu work makes this harem comedy outstanding. This is one of my favorite harem comedy along with Midori no Hibi, Mahoromatic, chobits, and Love Hina. If you enjoyed any of those animes i would strongly recommend it one as well. I can't wait till i see the Magic users TV

| Mahou Tsukai Tai OAV is one of the most enjoyable anime I've ever seen. Combine this with some very high production values and perfect pacing and you have one of the best anime ever made.

| Just having wached it again for the 2nd time, this OVA is one of the better ones ever made. The animation still holds up very well, although the CG is a bit primitive by today's standards. It has a great mix of comedy, action, drama and romance. Something for everyone.

| This anime is one of the better OVA series that I have seen. As one would expect from an OVA, the animation is great and crisp. This series goes one further with this however as it also uses bright colours, minimum still frames and detailed design on both the characters and the background. The sound is very fitting for this anime as the music was appropriate to most scenes and the opening and closing songs are fun, fluffly and memorable pop songs. The story is surprisingly very well handled, the mixture of mecha and magic is fluid and interesting throughout and never seems out of place. This could be due to the core of this anime being the characters. They are interesting, fun and serve their purpose very well. AND there is even time to give the characters some depth. Be it in dealing with love, lust or friendship, the characters show multiple layers. A lot of the comedy falls on Takeo and Aburatsubo and those scenes are created with a lot of panache. The one to display the most depth is Nanaka in her dealing with her emotions for Aburatsubo and that is also done very successfully. This anime has great value because I have already seen this OVA series three times and I haven't grown tired of it yet. The amazing thing about this anime is that some situations seem funny enough as they happen on screen but they are even funnier in retrospect, which a lot of comedy series do not achieve nowadays. Magic Users Club shows that this is how a comedy should be made.

| Outstanding. The concept is nothing like I've ever seen in its execution. This is a wonderful magical girl romantic comedy that is sweet (though sometimes devilishly twisted) graced by a wonderful cast of characters and dynamic interaction between them.

| A really enjoyment anime, very funny, but maybe the story is a little infantile.
The animation is excelent for the production of that year. The sound track maybe is infantile too, but it still's good. The story, as I said, is infantile ( aliens, magic ? ) but at the same time is originaly, and it seems to be a parodious from magical anime series, because that anime is a little ecchi. The development is quickly, but it's perfect for that kind of anime series ( at least in my opinion ). The characters are perfect, Sae is stupid at all, Takeo is a veteran pervert, Aburatsubo, well ... Aburatsuo is Aburatsubo ( n.n" ), Nanaka is maybe the most normal person in that wreid group, Akane is a little prepotent, and Mizuha has a big ti** ( the perfect mistake for a magic/ecchi anime n.n" ).
This anime is not a msterpiece or an excelent work, maybe the story is simple, however that doen't have importance, but it's very interesting and funny ( if you don't lauhg with maybe you are a mutant ( ò.ó ) ).

| The memory from watching it a few years ago was better before rewatching it recently. I think that it's ok fantasy/ sci-fi, with a special touch of ecchi.

| I hesitate to throw the word cute around, but this OVA manages to pull it off. Most likely because its short, Mahou Tsukai Tai manages to be humerous all the way to the end. Of course the decent level of OVA animation helps as well. All in all, Mahou OVA is a good break from whatever norm you are used to.
Mahou Tsukai Tai is further animated in a very beleagured 13 episode tv series.

| Definitely has every ingredient for a great anime; well done animation, interesting characters, humor, some nice serious moments, and topped with fanservice. Nice pacing for the six OVAs; you don't really get the feeling that they rushed through it or dragged anything out. Recommended for anyone looking for a fun, cute little story.

| i can not see giving this show any less than a 10 on ANYTHING! it really is that good...
this series brings back such great memories. it truly was a landmark anime for me. it has some of the best animation ever made in my opinion.
sae wants to be a great witch, but she's sorta lacking in some areas. nanaka isn't too thrilled about being in the magic club but she does it for sae, and akane is naturally good at magic but is too busy dating boys to attend many meetings. but they continue onward for the love of magic, and in sae and nanaka's case for the love of two boys who also happen to be members. this 5 member magic club is trying to protect people from invading aliens, who aren't causing any problems really, they just sort of hang out on earth for some reason.
MTT is the ultimate feel good anime. if it doesn't put a smile on your face then there is something horribly wrong with you.
the animation, like i mentioned is mind blowing. combined with AWESOME character designs, it's one of the best looking series around.
the music is equally as nice. cute OP and ED, as well as some very well done BGM. awesome seiyuu casting!
this is one of the best OVA's ever made in my opinion! i am confused by anyone who doesn't agree.

| Mixing a magical girl show with ample doses of shounen romance and fanservice, Magic User's Club manages to grasp the best of both worlds into a tight little package. The story follows the exploits of a group of magic wielding high school students as the attempt to rid the world of its rather passive alien invaders. With only 6 episodes to go on, Magic User's Club manages to hit all the right points with ample doses of humor, character development, action, and romance. An extremely enjoyable watch that comes highly recommended.

No high pretensions here. Simple story, light development and ingenuous humor. Could be better?
Mahou Tsukai Tai is perfect even in its duration: only six episodes, so you can watch it everytime you want.
One of my favourites. :)
Even if I tried hard, I couldn't get tired of this one.

Mahou Tsukai Tai é perfeito até na sua duração: com apenas seis episódios, você poderá assistÃ-lo sempre que tiver vontade.
Um dos meus favoritos. Mesmo que eu realmente quisesse, não teria como me cansar dele. :)

| From Satou Junichi and Triangle Staff, we have Mahou Tsukai Tai!/I Want to be a Magic User!/all them other titles, a slighty ecchi, yet cute comedy.
+: 9's all around.
Nice art, story, it's that great.
-: The romanization of the title is wrong. Add the u after maho or you would get sail as in the sail of a boat. So, mahou means magic and maho means sail.
Other than a few probs in the plot department and the amount of money you have to give up, that's it.
Overall: This is an A anime right here. So, go out and enjoy OVA series or even the television series. I did, though I have to watch the television series someday.

| Here's another fun little show. All the main characters are goofy, and fun to watch. There's plenty of ecchiness as the last review before me states, since the main character has perverted fantasies all the time. It's just a fun little OVA to watch, and get a few good laughs out of.

| This is one excellent anime. I bought the fist DVD of this for 15 dollars, because it looke interesting and was CHEAP. The series is touching, and very entertaining. There is stuff that both guys and girls will like about this anime.
