Another anime about cats. But instead of drawing them with normal features the movie adds to them human characteristics. This makes the movie unique.
Though the plot is interesting for the most part, at some moments during the middle it felt boring. But the final minutes compensate for it and I felt this could have been a much better movie if it was 30 minutes shorter. Some moments were truly magical and added a darker atmosphere. But by then the movie almost finishes.
It reminded me a little of one short story in the Petshop of Horrors manga and probably the movie inspired the mangaka of PSOH
For the time it was made the movie has some originality.
Targetted mainly at a younger audience but grown-ups who like dark fairy-tales will feel a melancholy in the end.
A must-watch for cat lovers, though not of the best cat animated movies.
But it has all the features of the 80's titles that make this movie memorable and rewatchable.
Animation and music were of high standards for 1984.
