| Having seen this movie, I now understand why the dragon ball movie "Path to Power" was labelled as an "alternative version" to the beginning of dragon ball.
It was essentially a different version of this movie. Both brought together Goku and Bulma, the turtle guy and the pig etc. In the end, they both did essentially the same, but they went about it in a different way. In fact, now that I've seen this, I think I'll up the ratings for the other, because I'm simply impressed with the way they made the other one not as a copy cat version, (which I find is often the trap that remakes falls into) but something completely different that, at the end of the day STILL managed achieve the same thing. In fact, I slightly prefer the remade plot line. But the reason I'm giving this higher ratings is that the other one I felt contains inappropriate fanservicing that's bringing it down, and also it seems not as well made... but that could be because I downloaded a low quality version.
Anyway, enough about the other anime. What about this one? I haven't really much to say about this one. My comments for this is essentially the same as the other one: A cut above the usual dragon ball movie because it's not centered around fighting, but puts considerable effort into the adventure aspect as well. The result is a vaguely interesting adventure story. Thanks to the lack of fanservice, this version is more friendly to the targetted audience than the remake.
