| An absolute perfect anime. A blast to watch. The characters are likeable, unique, well-drawn and hilarious. The animation and music is excellent. In fact, I'm SHOCKED that this anime doesnt have a higher rating. Not only is it full of slapstick comedy, but it has a great underlining romance story that ties it all together, keeping you watching until the very end, and then some. The relationship between the two leads, Keitaro and Narusegawa, is the most memorable of any to date.
Definitely an anime you should not pass up.

| After months, if not years of being begged to watch it, I finally got around to seeing Love Hina. It was hyped a bit, I guess, though I cannot say I am too disappointed by it. Sure, it isn't great, but it isn't overtly bad enough to hate.

| Overall, so-so anime. Basically, if you want to pass a time since you have nothing else better to do, this anime might be of some help.
Animation: a decent animation style. At 2000 that might be cool visual effects, but as of now, it is decent. What I really did not like about the animation is that super vitality having Keitaro dude. He was punched by some girl, flew hundreds of meters up to the sky, landed on his face and not even a scratch... I also should note that I liked the way the faces of the characters were drawn. I liked that the size of the eyes was relatively small.
Music: satisfactory music. Nothing impressive nor overly annoying. The only annoying thing I found was Keitaro's squeaking voice and one of the eps. with tetri-like music.
Story: there was a story of Keitaro searching for the person with whom he made a promise back 15 years ago, but overall the story was more episodic rather than goal oriented. Netherless, the episodes were somewhat rich in originality and entertainment. On the other hand, there were quite a few instances where the story annoyed me, especially when people started flying around the air after they were hit by a punch.
Character: not much depth in the characters, such as good and bad personality features. On the other hand, the characters were colorful in their personalities and actions.
Value and enjoyment: some of the humor I found to be classy and funny, some, a bit annoying. Overall, I do not regret that I watched this anime, but I would not re-watch it.

| Ever decided to watch an anime because of a song you heard on the [anime broadcast] radio? Probably not, but that's actually the reason I picked Love Hina....I really liked the song “Winter Wish”. And yeah, it was probably not a good idea to watch a show based on how you interpret a song because I kind of thought Love Hina was a shoujo series.....come to find out it's the biggest pervy-ecchi, harem anime out there [or at least one of them].
Ecchi, Harem and or Pseudo-lez animes are not my particular bag of tricks. No not when it comes to watching anime....I mean I don't care so long as the story is good and it holds my attention, but it's a known fact that animes that fall into this genre are usually weak plot-wise and are nothing more than titillating yet banal erotic fluff. And yet, knowing this, I still decided to watch this show anyway [le sigh, le groan]

| Hmmh. This is kinda hard series to review, because it is after all quite legendary and many people have seen this, every one of them have their own opinions. Well this is my short opinion Love hina series.
Animation is good and well made, but I have always strange feeling at something is missing it. I dunno what it is.
Sounds are good too, I really liked them even the opening theme was somewhat funny its own way. I admit there wasn't any song that would have potential to be legendary like for example Initial D's Dog Fight.
Story was sort of very similar than other harem serieses many girls and one whimpy guy under the same roof, but Love Hina is maybe little deeper than many other this type of series and main character is struggling between his feelings and old promise.
Value is hard to measure, because this series never ended like it was originaly thought. Because of Funding promblems. It ended after one full season and second one had made only one episode. Later on couple special episodes were made to fill this "hole" of true ending.
I had lot's of fun when I watched this one, only requirement is, Relax and don't think about it too much ;)

| Love Hina is a romantic comedy with an emphasis on COMEDY. The idea was to introduce a male into a house of unwilling females and to see how they eventually might grow on each other. This is not a very serious romance/drama and such it is appropriate for all audiences that are willing to put up with a weakling main male character essentially being controlled by the females all the time.

| I thoroughly enjoyed the first episodes of this anime, it felt as if it was going somewhere and the interaction between the characters was always interesting. A bit into the series though it felt like I was watching fillers, in a series which only encompasses 25 episodes! What started as a promising anime turned out to be a drawn out that I had to force myself to watch to the end. What actually made me want to watch all of the episodes was the fact that the story was good enough to make you want to know what happens in the end.

I copied the bulk of my review into the other categories...
Enjoyment: I have to admit my ratings in the other categories are probably biased because of how much I enjoyed this anime. But I don't believe that should be considered unfair rating. These ratings are how i genuinely feel about this anime.
Other Notes: CAN'T WAIT UNTIL FUNIMATION RELEASES IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| I've been postponing reviewing Love Hina for quite a while, trying to figure out what I really thought about it, and I think I've finally figured it out.
Love Hina is about Keitaro, a young prospective student trying his best to be admitted into Tokyo U, but failing year after year. When his parents decide that he will be kicked out unless he starts working, a new opportunity arise. His grandmother is taking a break from managing an all-girl's dormitory and assign Keitaro as temporary manager. There he meets Naru Narusegawa who he falls for pretty quickly. Anyway, as the only male there, he is considered to be a pervert and the girls treat him as such.
I did not particularly like Love Hina. The treatment Keitaro recieves becomes boring after the 5th episode or so, and some of the characters become boring quickly since they don't really evolve at all during the series.
There are some character highlights though, but neither are heavily involved and that makes Love Hina even more frustrating.

| Love Hina the most common and most widely known harem anime there is. Love Hina came out in the year 2000 with a total of 24 episodes and the last episode being something random. (Which really confused me, so I just didn't count that as in the series.) Too bad there budget was so low, because I wanted to see more of a conclusion to this anime and more fun filled times at the Hinata Inn.
Animations are colorful and bright. Fills you up with joy I think? Very typical animations. The OP was a really good song in my opinion. It really went well with the anime and I like how they have a slow version of the OP song and how the cast of characters all sang that song on one episode. (Which is really weird, because all of the girls are really good singers in this anime. Shouldn't there be at least one girl who can't sing) Oh well, the ED song I just skipped most of the time. Voice acting was good and it fits every single character perfectly.
Story is all over the place. You have a boy named Keitaro who is staying at the Hinata Inn. The only problem is there are multiple hot girls living there as well and each girl has their own personality. (Shy, Violent, Weird, etc etc etc) The episode in Love Hina always has two elements. First is Keitaro always sees a girl undressed or something and second he always gets hit and is blown away in the sky for like four miles. (Just like Team Rocket from Pokemon when they say "we're blasting off again.") The characters are all loveable and entertaining and all develop their feelings for the main character, but they are all violent to him, except for Shinobu. Characters have great character development and the characters remain entertaining throughout the anime.
The episodes were really random sometimes. At the beginning of the anime like the first six episodes we have typical love-romance setting and we get to meet all the characters at the Hinata Inn in their very own episode. Then a few of fillers, but some of them are entertaining. Then the anime picks up again and starts to change gears from fillers to drama for like five episodes then it's back to fillers again. And then at the end of the anime, for the last four episodes we go back to drama. If you didn't think the anime had good love-romance parts in the beginning then you are going to be amazed at this. The last episode felt kind of bleh and it didn't feel very good for a last episode. I guess they ran out of money to make more episodes and end the anime overall.
Overall this anime has its ups and downs. Preferably more ups and downs, but there are quite the fillers. They almost make up half the anime.

| (old review)
So I hear there's this thing called love. And that it involves two people who have feelings for each other. And if, and when, two people meet who are destined to be together [love]... they know it. They show their affection through little games of "hard to get" or "footsie," and eventually dive into a relationship. One thing leads to another, and soon enough, ding goes the bell and pop goes the baby.
That is, if you lived in the fifties or sixties.
It's true, folks. Love simply ain't what it used to be. Just look at poor Keitaro, our pitiful protaganist of the century -- he met his dream girl when he was still a child, but he's never seen her since. It makes a person depressed, doesn't it, just seeing him struggle to pass the entrance exams into Tokyo University to fulfill a promise he made with this girl who may not even remember him anymore?
Fortunately for Keitaro, his luck is about to change. His old Granny's decided to run off on vacation, and leaves him in charge of her bath house. Use these times to study hard, young one! And what's this? Keitaro now has a steady job? Almost there! Now where's the girl?
Or rather, who're all these girls?!
Surprise! This bath house doesn't just employ all girls, it also happens to house them! Four yelps, one punch in the face, and five miles later, Keitaro may not have been that lucky afterall...
And so it all began. And so I was enthralled. I had actually avoided this series because I knew I would like it --- I knew I would fall for the lame comedy, I knew I would cry at the cheap romance, I knew I would sleep begging for more of its cliches.
And that is exactly why I waited for the boxset to be released.
I admit, as tempted as I was, I did NOT watch this all in one sitting. Sometimes you need a break from your everyday routine, you know? And with Love Hina, sometimes you just need a break. So on episode 12, I ended the third disc, gave myself a break, and ate a KitKat bar. Then, after I had my fix, I safely put it back where it came from on my shelf. It wasn't until one month later did I think I was ready to finish the rest.
It's not that I didn't want to watch it all at once. Trust me. I just felt I kind of owed it to myself, and Love Hina, to sit back and contemplate. The love portrayed in this series is so strong and makes you want to have it so badly, more so than with anything else I've seen. There is amazing passion in the emotion the characters convey --- they have such desire for what they do, protections for who they know. And throughout it all, they all have their problems. They are not flawless people, but they are flawless replicas of us. It's funny, actually. They aren't perfect, yet I would give my right hand to say I am like any of them. I realized that if I would have sat there and gone through every single episode, I may have needed some Zoloft.
And that's what I truly feel Love Hina is about. No, not being depressed. I mean the way different people interact and feel, the way we measure our success --- some people [and society] in money and how well we do in helping the economy; others [like myself] in love, happiness, emotion. Sure you can have a lot of money, but can money also talk for you? Can it make honest friends for you? Can it, ultimately, love for you? [...] Don't answer that ^^; The series really has you debate your ideals and views, and may even change them.
I'm not saying Love Hina will make you think love is some grandiose phenomena that we should all live for, though. I'm not a Bohemian. What I am saying is that Love Hina can take the skeptic out of anyone who thinks we can live devoid of compassion. If you aren't able to sympathize with others, how is anyone going to sympathize with you? Love Hina really brings the impacts of emotion to a reality, and packs quite a punch. Even amongst its densely-filled comedy, there is always this sincerity holding the story afloat. I could even say it represents my nostalgia --- a childhood innocence when all I wanted was to get married, live with a family, and just enjoy life. It even makes me sad to say I haven't had quite an experience like Love Hina in awhile, and I kind of wish I could relive it again. It really flipped my world upside-down, for the better. And I haven't looked back since.

| This anime is pretty much a dating sim conversion, for better or for worse. The plot takes a back seat to the characters as the stereotypical harem male (Keitaro) finds himself surrounded by a group of girls. Then we are treated to a bishoujo gaming experience as each girl's arc is explored over a series of episodes.
Quite ironic, since this anime is actually a manga adaptation, not a H-game adaptation. Maybe Akamatsu should start working for Key or Leaf.
The problem with this show isn't the premise, however - it's the execution. The lead girl (Naru) who serves as the main love interest is actually the least likeable of the group. The violence gets old after a while - you'd think the guy would grow up and choose one of the other girls, all of whom are probably better suited for him. This becomes especially apparent when the dating sim elements kick in, and the viewer is asked to identify each one of the other girls.

| Overall, I think the best word to describe this anime is "cute." This is probably the most well-known of the harem genre of anime, and is also one of the best. However, the complete lack of realism, the repetition of jokes, and the outrageous actions of some of the characters are a bit over-the-top and ruined the anime a bit for me.
The animation wasn't too good; typical 2-Dimensional animation. While it was colorful, had good character designs, and fit the outrageous mood of the series, I just wasn't impressed with the animation.
The soundtrack was pretty catchy, especially the opening song. It also fit the "cute" nature of the series very well.
The story really wasn't all that complex, and was truly pretty predictable in all respects. There were a few filler episodes, but for the most part each episode allowed for some character backgrounds or development to occur. Then again, a story isn't usually the first priority in the harem anime genre, and the simplicity of the story does allow for the series to maintain its focus on the heart of the series: the characters.
As to the characters, I found them all interesting and unique in their own respects; my favorites were Otohime, Haruka, and Keitaro. However, one thing I did find annoying throughout the series was the actions of Narusegawa and Motoko, who beat up Keitaro all the time for no reason, and Mitsune, who seemed to enjoy Keitaro's suffering at the hands of Narusegawa and Motoko. Also, I cringed every time Narusegawa, Motoko, and Mitsune would tell Keitaro to his face that he was useless, stupid, and clumsy. Heck, by the end of the series I was expecting Keitaro to just start crying due to lack of self-esteem.
This anime doesn't have much re-watch value to me; but if you find the series hilarious, I'm sure it would be rewatchable. Also, Love Hina is one of the best harem animes I have come across, so it is worth the watch if you enjoy the genre or want a taste of the genre.
Overall, I enjoyed this anime, and didn't struggle through the episodes as I have with some harem animes.

| I'm going to take a break from my usual route and state outright my disposition towards this series. I like it. I enjoyed watching it. And I was actually surprised at that, because usually I have a heavy dislike for the whole "ecchi, harem, fanservice, etc." sort of animes there are out there, and that hasn't changed (I still despise them). But for some reason, I never count Love Hina as one of those series even though most others do and it does admittedly fit under the requirements. I'm not sure why, but the overall series just leaves a different impression on me. This is review is only for this television series and not the OVA, manga, or movies.
Most of you already know the story of this anime, and some of you probably hate it already. That's okay, it was my reaction too. But in my opinion, it is actually a charming sort of plot even though it is filled with obvious fanservice. The characters grow on you more then any other series and you want them to end happily, and that's the mark of good writing and execution. The series is of course, also a comedy and it has some of the most hilarious moments in the history of anime, but I don't want to overshadow the fact that there is, behind the cover, a nice little story in this anime. And though the manga covers the story better overall, the way the anime handles the climax is a bit more effective.
So what I'm saying is, even if you're not a fan of this kind of anime (as I wasn't), you should still check this series out because it has some weird sort of charm which has attracted many, many fans and helped retain it's popularity for 6 years (I look at the date of this thing and think "has it really been so long?") Give it a chance.

| I was going over the review before I watched this and I have to say that while most were good, there were some, that was very discouraging. However, this turns out to be very good. I enjoyed watching it and did have plenty of laugh. It isn't the league of FMA but certainly it doesn't deserve a 1.0 rating either (then again, even if you thought the antics were bad an unoriginal, how can you give the animation, sound, and the various other categories that doesn't even go with that a 1 or 0 is beyong me). This series in itself though is not complete so if you plan on watching this, be sure to watch the Christmas Special, Spring Special, and Love Hina Again.

| *to be re-written*
I thought that this is a great anime, but it’s just average, nothing special. This is supposed to be an anime based only on daily life (for example GTO and maison ikkoku) but there are flying turtles and weird gadgets, i find that totally ridiculous.
And I'm wondering why they say that this anime is funny. Is it whenever Keitaro is being punched and went flying to the sky every episode? I don’t find that funny. Actually I feel sorry for him for being punched with no deep reason.
I give a nice score for the animation, because the characters and places are well drawn, their facial expressions are ok too. The color is bright and vivid, that’s why I like it.
About the sound, I think the background music is okay, it fits the scenes well. I love the opening and ending song. I like the dubbing, japanese seiyuus are great.
This anime fails if we talk about the story, because it was just ripped off from maison ikkoku, I think. They live in the same apartment, the main character being a manager and ronin. There’s no originality. well its okay but the problem is, I think some of the scenes repeats over and over, for example, the girls are taking a bath in the spring, then keitaro will enter not knowing that there are people there and then he will be punched. That’s just 1 example.
The cast's characters are kinda okay (I think they are stereotypical though) except kaolla su, she's annoying, always butting in other peoples business. But the interaction is quite nice, so it’s okay.
Though I didn’t like this anime much, sometimes I still watch it when there’s nothing to do. This is recommended to those who like cheesy/unfunny comedy without deep plot.

| I don't know why this isn't rated higher... Maybe because of it's popularity it is judged harsher. This is a hilarious show though, and very sweet to boot. This is what a romantic comedy should be. All the characters are loveable, and it's really hard to see some of the heartbreaks in this series. But all the characters are loveable and developed very well. And their heartbreaks lead them to becoming stronger characters. The Opening and Ending songs were irrating and is the reason I didn't give sound a 10. Because the music in the show and the voice acting was fantastic. The animation is beautiful and the story is addictive. Very enjoyable show. Funniest anime I ever seen. I would reccommend it to everyone.
I just wish Shinobu had a happier ending more conclusive ending... I loved her character so much and was behind her the whole time.
After the show you will be wishing for more...and you're wish is granted with the 2 Specials and the OVAS. Awesome Anime

| After trying out that simdate game on Newgrounds, I decided to check out what it was all about, so I loaded Limewire and downloaded, for 7 days straight, all 24 episodes (and the stuff after that). My first anime-on-computer experience, and I couldn't press the stop button.
As this anime was the first anime-on-computer I've watched, it pretty much leaves unforgettable memories and I can't get "omg this is the best eva" out of my head, but after watching a couple more series (a year later...), this is actually a pretty average anime that was just hyped with obsessive people watching it and playing the simdate game of it. (Everyone should know the simdate game by now... no surprise there).
I didn't know this was a XEBEC animation until I finished Uchuu no Stellvia (and later, DN Angel). I was disappointed that the quality was pretty low at the time. No CG of XEBEC that I love, pretty normal 2D animation - this anime was on low budget. Now, if it weren't for going broke, there wouldn't be Christmas/Spring specials or OVAs, because it could have finished all 14 volumes in 3 seasons - that or they really restrain on having 13-episode seasons and are restricted to half, 1, 2, or 4 seasons for a single show.
I skipped the OP and EP most of the time.
The story was both hilarious and heart-warming. You've got your harem around a loser, a childhood promise, and crazy things going on around the loser. Some could argue this is the spawn of the dozens of other harem anime out there (though probably not true, but people generally refer), but nonetheless Love Hina does a good job of this genre. A couple of fillers were annoying, however, even though they were in the manga.
The characters are crazy, except for Keitaro the loser. Both the anime and manga only developed him slightly (he didn't turn into a man like Seto, which was the hopes of many I think...). The rest of the cast were awesome. The anime-original character (Kentaro, was it?) was also pretty good and had pretty hilarious moments!
On the second time of watching the series, I couldn't stand half of it. I don't know why. But then again with that first impression, I stuck with it.
Compared to the manga, the manga excels, but the anime isn't crap like most manga-anime converts. I would still rather reread the manga than rewatch the anime, however.
