The Kimagure Orange Road OVA were released one year after the original series. These eight episodes so not continue the story from where the original series had left off. So if you head on to these OVA thinking that you will see devlopement in the relationship between the trio - you would be disappointed. These OVAs take place in the timeline in between the series. Eg. OVA episode one takes place when Kasuga and his friends visit the mountains where his grandparents live. Most of the characters re-appear in these episodes with the addition of one new character - Akane (Kasuga's female cousin). She proves to be quite a nuisance to our indecisive hero. xD These episodes are as fun as the original ones so it is a sort of bonus to all KOR lovers. Once again the last episode is a serious episode and is as heartwarming as the end of the original series. I recommend this to all people who love a fun 23 minutes and especially to those who enjoyed the original series. For those who like this - the story of KOR doesn't end with this - two movies still remain. Here I come!!!

The KOR OVAs are fun to watch, but aren't necessary for the series. The are basically fillers, but if you enjoyed the "fillers" in the TV series, then you'll enjoy these too.

There are several new, and very good, songs in these OVAs, especially the one Madoka sings in the band. As with the TV series, my only complaint is the lack of any memorable BGMs.

The OVAs have the addition of a new character, Akane, but isn't really necessary. She is interesting and creates some funny situations, but overall she is forgettable.

Watching these OVAs aren't a must, but it's fun and enjoyable. It would have been nice to incorporate these into the TV series, but even as a standalone they're fine.

I recommend watching these if you enjoyed the TV series and want more.

This was an all right show, but anyways only a continuation of the Kimagure Orange Road series. Nothing important really happens here either. I guess you could have called these filler episodes if they had been a part of the series. Anyhow, these were generally good fillers, though the two first episodes were pretty lame.

There were a lot of new songs in this show, which I really enjoyed. These were 80’s style, like the series, but indeed good ones. Animation is the same style as the series, all right for the time being released. Overall, I think the character development and the plot was a bit disappointing. But if you liked the series well, you will probably think this OVA is okay too.

KOR OVA just seems to bring more stupidity in a anime that was already at the verge, the limit between acceptable and ridiculous, even for an love-triangle/fanservice anime... don't understand me wrong, i respect KOR very much since it can be considered, along with Maison ikkoku the founding father of all fanservice/love-triangle animes, and still manages to hold onto some interesting developments that still feel original in the sea clyche that the harem animes of today are.

As I've stated this OVA just seems to throw the show that had the magic elements of Kyosuke Familly and Super Madokka, that formed a somewhat exagerated but still very enjoyable show, into a ridiculous show with kidnappers, ghosts, stop-time watches, lesbians and exagerated body to mind changes between all sorts of animals, without bringing anything extra to the relation between Kyosuke and Madokka... It all just seemed exagerated and forced upon the viewer as a marketing tool to sell a never ending story that didn't have an ending anyway, instead of making a real ending to the series, like they did in the second movie.

So in conclusion: The animation was standard for it's age, so was the sound. The story was irrelevant to the main course of the series, the value carries weight only for the true fans, and the enjoyment got sunk by the exagerated events that took place in this ova...

As for those who enjoyed it? they have all the rights to do so, it's loyalty towards the series... but I don't belive in loyalty when it comes to animes.

The Kimigure Orange Road OVA had its moments. However I still favor the tv series over this installation. One reason is the seeming randomness of the episodes. This works for shows like Ranma but I would like to see some continuity with this show. That said there were some parts of this OVA that I loved. If you want to know more of why I rated this in this way read on.

Despite the regular series being really really good. kimagure orange roads are merely average.
they don't forward the story in any way, they're just a few side trips taken by the trio , and a few other characters.
Only watch this if you enjoyed Kimagure Orange Road and you've watched everything but this. Really nothing special.

Animation, sound, although a bit different from the TV series, is not anything spectacular. Not really eye candy. Just more of your 'favorite' characters.

Note: if you've read the manga, these episodes are 'filler' for the manga. Nothing new. Except same story in the manga.

The KOR OVAs are the more risque of the episodes, flirting with disaster but in the end, leaving things tentatively in KOR fashion... until the final movie, of course. Non-fans of the TV series will more than likely see these as whimsical short childish love shorts. But KOR fans will appreciate this as an appropriate build-up to the final movie. Arguably, a few certain key tv episodes and the OVAs will prepare one minimally enough for the final movie.

There is really nothing new in the OVAs, except that the KOR-type plot is tighter and more well-done than the tv series. KOR is old, and was its own love story for its generation.

Not what I expected at all, this is far below standard, yes I am being over strict here maybe I shouldn’t be, what these 8 episodes are basically all fillers and boring fillers at that, no real comedy that makes you laugh (there were a few but across the 8 episodes, it’s very occasional), and romance? I won’t bet your money on it.

Therefore it lacked what it’s main selling points are. Everything else was below standard and only the animation was okay. I was quite angry at this and found the whole 8 episodes rather boring, even though it’s mid series time wise, it still doesn’t mean they can be this boring.

If you are a very big fan of the series, add another 2 or 3 points onto the ratings, if not, you shouldn’t watch this, not necessary.

This is the first I have seen of this series. I have not seen the original yet. I actually enjoy the old school animation, and music. It is very enjoyable. The characters are interesting also. I cant wait to watch the original series and movies.

I kinda wished I watched the series before watching this. A pretty good high school kids series. Nothing too special. The addition of magic was a little weird but other than the first and fifth episode there was basically no magic. It’s an old series so the animation’s a bit old. Everyone’s got the large forehead and big hair like most old animes. The voices are pretty good (Hikari just plain annoying but fits her character). The characters are pretty good, though not too developed since just about every episode is a stand alone. I think I’ll look into the TV series now.
