This is a fantastic series that I think it is better to just give a strong recommendation so that one can enjoy the suprises. It is so wacky yet logical that it seems quite evident the original creator(s?) was tripping, insane, and ingenious.

The engrish description describes the setting introduced in the first episode -> the main character, Hale, is a young boy (maybe 8?) who has a fun loving life in the jungle; then came along Guu, a mysterious girl with an alternate universe inside her stomach. A lot of strange comedy...and then next to that there is a storyline that seems almost normal and principled. The characters are dynamic and likeable -- despite the two main characters being children, this is certainly for any age. Hale's mother is not much more mature (she reminds me a lot of Misato from Evangelion).

The art of the series is well drawn, and I give it high marks for the fact that it shows that there are a lot of aesthetic possiblities still out there that classify within the general anime/manga styles. Sometimes it seems the artists could have used a bit more help to create more frames, and it could be digitally cleaned up more.

I'll include spoilers in the optional review fields, but I felt this series deserves a strong positive review without need for plot details. I am reviewing it six years after its release, and I can say I am happy I didn't discover it earlier because I enjoyed it a lot more than most of the current releases!

After watching the opening theme song and the first episode, you may think Jungle is a really trippy show, but it winds down into a slice of life comedy in the vein of azumanga daioh or lucky star. It is the later parts of the show that really bring the series down.

Hale is the son of a single mother whose only hobby is drinking. One day, in a drunken stupor, she decides to bring home a child she found to live with them. Hale was enamored with his new housemate, Guu at first, when she played her loli-cute face. After seeing her true monotonous yet devious nature and anatomy, he realizes that Guu is no human. She is able to read minds, swallow anything/anyone and then regurgitate it unharmed. In fact, in her stomach is a whole world of oddities that Guu has swallowed, including permanent residents.

When the episodes still number in the single digits, all the humor is fresh. Jungle will surprise you again and again with its loopy jokes and unexpected punchlines. Wacky gags like horror movie spoofs, or characters occasionally popping out of Guu's mouth will probably make you say, "WTH?!"

All the characters are 1-quirk though, and they end up having the same gags throughout the rest of the series. This quickly becomes repetitive and predictable. Mari (a minor character) and Guu are also only a notch above the rest in predictability because they don't play on a single joke for the whole series.

Jungle is entertaining because of its unique concept, but it suffers in the same way most comedy oriented animes do: it's dragged out too long, and fresh comedy material dries up.

Have you ever met a girl who you thought was cute and sweet, only to find out that she's a 'monster' the next day? Well, Hale did and that's the start of many hilarious things to come in this anime. JwIHnG is one of most enjoyable comedic series I have ever watched. Its jokes and funny moments are so ingenious sometimes, I marvel at the creativity of the creators. At first, I was skeptical about watching this anime based on the picture on here and the description. It sounded like a kiddish anime. How wrong was I. Not only is this not kiddish, there are many themes and jokes where only the more mature folks can understand. I loved this series. There is rarely a dull moment in it. Each episode had been a terrific watch for me. Highly recommended! I'm gonna go find the OVAs for a continuation of this series.

In each and EVERY episode, Jungle ha Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu relies on the contrasts between Guu's eccentric, devious, multi-facted, and nonchalant personality and Hale's over-worrisome, self-sympathetic, monologues that basically only Guu hears. In other words, Hale has to deal with the same things every day where ever he goes - school, home, the beach, airplane, city, etc. While it was original and interesting for the first 5 episodes, two main things bothered me
1) the only thing that changed was the context and 2) the amount of Guu eccentricity was toned down. She no longer swallowed as many things to annoy Hale, nor was her presence as being masochist Doraemon increase.

The comedy itself is not that great and aside from a few chuckles towards Guu's somewhat evil nature towards Hale, I was totally unimpressed with how this anime progressed. There was no side splitting humor all throughout and I had to wait patiently for the one or two points in the episode that was funny. To make things worse, I can basically assume what's going to happen as Guu's actions towards Hale are very predictable.

A very medicore anime that is hard to get used to because the whole series's humor relies on Guu and the amount of humor is a function of her screen time, but gets easily boring once you do because nothing happens since the later episodes have less of Guu and the novel actions of Guu start becoming more predictable. If only Guu's eccentric personality took more of the screen time (instead of Hale's annoying self monologues), this would have been more interesting to me.

This anime has a weak plot, semi-memorable music, animation that looked like was made very quickly. But despite those flaws this anime is very well done and very funny too.

AVISO: Hay spoilers

Despite having only some OK animation, not very memorable music, and practically no story, this is one of THE funniest animes ive seen. Heck, its not even one of the funniest animes, its one of the funniest ANYTHING!. It is a definite MUST SEE for anyone who enjoys comedy. The characters are absolutely great and you'll like just about every one of them - especially Guu. Everything she does or says makes you laugh, i almost guarantee it. Don't worry about animation, because you'll get used to it. The music may not memorable, but it isn't bad at all. I am just picky about music. There is no need for a story in this anime, since the comedy makes up for it. This is the best comedy anime ive seen.

There are quite a number of characters in this anime but none of them are too left out and are developed pretty well. Although the storyline is pretty much the daily life of the main character, the concept of living in the jungle with a mysteriously hilarious girl is not typical. Humor is everywhere in this anime and it is undoubtedly entertaining, although its ending for both seasons are always rather abrupt.

For the record, Guu is one of the more interesting and unique characters I have ever come across in anything. This is a delightful series that offers a lot of laughs and a touching story in the background. All of the characters are so funny, and the stuff that happens in each episode is really unexpected. Although a lot of stuff doesn't get explained in this series, I don't think it makes a big deal. Each episode standalone is interesting to watch, although the big picture itself certainly enhances the enjoyment of this anime.

Oh my goodness! This is one of the funniest anime series that I have watched. True it might not have a plot and it goes against my statement of wanting to have a plot in anime series, but this was just hilarious! I don't know I have to think that the creators of this anime were high or just out there to put this into perspective for their audiences to watch. I loved it, and the songs and bgm music were funny, and catchy. I always felt sorry for Hale, but he still puts up with it and carries on. A must see for someone who wants to have a GREAT laugh!!

Guu, a mysterious girl with pink hair and unlimited power, suddenly appears in the jungle and started living with Hale, an innocent caring boy, and his mum. Guu's job is to make Hare's life both at home and in the school a living hell but at the same time, makes him feel the warmth of those around him. But more towards the former. An extremely interesting anime not to be missed.

The last time I've seen such loveable kook is when Johnny Depp danced with bread rolls and made grilled cheese sandwiches with an iron in Benny & Joon. Many comedies aren't as funny as they appear. Slayers isn't nearly as funny as it could be. Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu outstayed its welcome. Midori no Hibi grew stale long before its ending. In the end, I assume that the dirtier the jokes, the better. As evidence, I point to the side-splitting Golden Boy and Ebichu. The essence of Hare + Guu is that there's no ecchi and few sexual innuendoes and though it may be not as funny as a bicycle riding pervert or a horny hamster, it still manages to be funnier than a sorceress with a flat chest.

Guu (as it became known to my friends and I) is a barrel of laughs. It is a comedic funfest that has just enough seriousness to keep you coming back.

The art is stylish and pokes fun, like a lot of its script, at anime itself. Its voices are suitably chosen and its music fits the plot perfectly.

The one thing you will be sure to remember is the selection of characters. Hale is neurotic and caring, Weda is a funtime girl, and Guu is mysterious and zany; but the other characters are just as memorable.

Sit back, move to the theme tune, and laugh with glee... this is one to brighten your day!

The funniest anime I've seen!! and one of my favorites!

I loved the animation. All the wierd jungle animals and plants are so unique, and the character designs were also pretty good.
The sound was also great. I loved the opening music, and thought it went so well with whole anime. All the seiyuus were good, but Guu was awesome! Her voice went so well with her personality. Her wierd, low monotone voice sounds indifferent, irritating Hare even more.
All the characters are unique and funny, but I have to give a 10 just for Guu. She is the wierdest anime character, which makes her so lovable.
There really isn't much plot, but all episodes are extremely hilarious. I have to admit the whole Guu eating pple thing gets old, after a while, but all the tricks/words she says is so funny.
watch this, and you won't regret.

This is one of the funniest animes I've ever seen.
There is a 10 years old boy Hare who lives in a jungle with his mother. One day he meets Guu, an apparently very cute girl of the same age as him, and Hare's mother decides that she can live with them.
But Guu is all but cute. Soon Hare discovers the "horror" behind Guu. She is not an average girl at all. She's very boyish, she is super strong, she eats birds, people, elefants,... and her stomach is a kind of world where people, animals and other things can live.
After meeting Guu Hare begins to meet a lot of other strange people and he becomes the most "put under stress" kid
in the story of anime.
If you want to laugh a lot till almost you can't breath anymore, without ecchi o perverted elements, this is a MUST.

GUU-SAMA for president? I agree.

Jungle wa itsumo Hare nochi Guu is an anime all about being silly and wierd. This is all brought about by the shape changing free loader Guu. The anime will make you laugh so hard sometimes that you will replay the scene over and over because you have never seen something so weird or silly. You also tend to want to tell the main character Hale to please shut up! but seeing what he has to go through I can sympathize with him. The other supporting characters fit in nicely. The perverted doctor is hiliarious, and so is the guy with long Low eyelashes and the gun lover. There is no real backbone story in Jungle, but that really doesn't hurt the anime at all. The anime main focous is to make you laugh! and believe they do a good job doing that. The opening/closing songs are really really good! If you want something to make you laugh or cheer you up, heres your cure.

I saw the first chapter and said... Whathefff......... It's tremendous ! Hillarous ! OMG !

I must admit is behind Azumanga's gags, but, man, it's terribly funny.

Thinking back to this series still makes me laugh uncontrollably. It was hilarious.

As for animation, it obviously was a childrens anime and therefore was designed to look like one. The look of it all didnt appeal too much to me, but, the expressions are SOOO great. Ive never seen so many hilarious expressions used. The coolest thing about this is that they overuse the anime cliche's on purpose, and even make reference to other animes. (For example, Bel's nosebleed).

The sound is decent, although at first Hale's voice annoyed me. The opening song kind of got on the nerves as well, but everything else was fine.

The story looked as if it was going to be one of THOSE animes, with no central plot and completely episodic. Well, i was wrong, as each episode did connect to the next well, especially in character development, and dealing with Hale's mom and the city. At one point in the series, you almost wonder if Hale is really just finding it difficult to differenciate between fantasy and reality (plus all of the episodes are "illusion #").

Characters were great! Especially Guu, who, is a mystery to this day. Most of the characters were developed nicely, each with different distinquishable and memorable personalities. Especially the doctor, hale, guu, and hale's mom.

I couldnt put this series down and watched the entire thing real fast. Plus i started re-watching it with friends. Plus i wish there was more (besides the OVA). I think value deserves a high score. As for overall enjoyment... it still brings a smile to my face to this day. A great series (but you need ot be open minded and have the right sense of humor).
