| Munakata Mira is a lovable, confused teenage freshman who's life seems anything but normal when it comes to his home life.
Unless of course, you call having your farther as a lover normal.
Papa to Kiss in the Dark, really offers it all when it comes to the crunch.
The art and animation is beautiful, bright, and almost flawless. And of course the story line of the devilish relationship between farther and son is full of laughter, tears, and dreamy sighs.
As soon as you've seen the (sadly) short series, you'll be a in love with the sweet duo that is Mira and Kyosuke.

| Truth be told, for a two episode OVA series, I'm not sure what to conclude about Papa to Kiss in the Dark. It actually started off decently for a school based and, what I assumed to be, a shounen-ai series to start. However this is aptly more yaoi to a tee, i.e. soft core porn and it's downright bad in most veins, almost like a soap opera playing upon melodramatic pretenses to elicit a response from the viewer. Not to mention borrowing incestual themes, downright lewd contexts (Milk...for breakfast...in the scheme of this series it downright gross and I loathed it, distinctly rolling my eyes while hearing the reference), and a senario where seemingly everyone wants to jump the main character's bones.
It wasn't so much the contexts that this series referenced that had me appalled, but the lack of interesting character personalities and farfetched storyline. True, this series had some nicely drawn bishounen; I thought Kazu was uber hot. In the end, pretty characters do not compromise for a good series. Honey x Honey Drops is a good example of a series, in the shoujo realm, to compare in terms of a mediocrely executed storyline and character development, but with nice animation.
Yet, lets go through this series with a fine toothed comb before jumping into the pros and cons, shall we?
Mira-kun seems to be your average school kid, entering high school and looking towards his elder peers for guidance in his new school. Yet, for lack of a better description, he harbors a rather dangerous secret. People tend to tease him about his close relationship with his father, but they don't realize that he's actually IN a relationship with his father: sexual relations in tow >_<
Add to that a cast in a well-to-do school of an older sempai and a long-time friend and classmate (whom seemed the most interesting character of the series until his relations lent with Mira), and a dysfunctional father who could seem to care less about Mira's well being than jumping his bones, and you have the main focal characters of Papa to Kiss in the Dark.
I debated whether I should review this series or not because yaoi/yuri series aren't my cup of tea, lending me in a bit of a biased direction. Yet, I'm lending my two cents to a series that I feel isn't worth the watch, not necessarily for the yaoi context, but for the downright mediocrity of it. For incestuous notions: Koi Kaze was far and beyond better than this crud. For yaoi notions: Ai no Kusabi was better (though most disturbingly graphic).
It actually did have a few moments of incidental humor, but it grew old...very fast. I wouldn't recommend this series unless you know what you're jumping into, and I hope, through my extended review, to provide you with some context into whether this is a series you might like (if you're a yaoi fangirl or like melodramatic premises), or if it's one you'd dislike. However, suffice to say I was on the fence with this one, more disliking it than finding it in favor.

| Just recently I finished watching 'Papa to Kiss in the Dark' and when all was watched and done, I was left with mixed emotions.
While the story may be considered 'bold' by some -I would agree here- the characters didn't quite fit in. Excuse me, but incest, regardless of culture, is HIGHLY taboo and would the characters who realized that Mira-kun and Kyousuke-san were intimately involved really react so flippiantly? Would there not be something questionable or skeptical in their words or actions?
Perhaps. But even so, regardless of plot holes and the fact that much of this anime can be blatantly obvious, I found myself enjoying it. The animation is beautiful and the end theme, enjoyable. The characters, while not exactly well rounded, were engaging all the same. Give it a look and judge for yourself. At least one aspect of the show might win you over, even if the anime as a whole does not.
Poor, poor Kazu-kun...

| An anime that risked pushing the envelope further than anyone else would imagine of doing. Yaoi has been pushed and succeded fine, Shota isn't one of the higher accepted ones in the anime industry, and Incest is one of the more harder ones to have suceed. But combining all three in two oavs is like commiting suicide.
But amazingly, they surpassed every risk they took. I was floored when I saw this.
When I first saw the title to the show, I was extremely grossed out. I thought it was going to be a 45 year old fat mexican phedophile molesting an eight year old. But after seeing a few screenshots I decided why the hell not.
Well I am so glad I made the choice to download it.
Not only is the animation and sound quality acceptional, but the entire anime rocked out loud.
Overall I'd give it a 9.5 out of 10

| I'm not going to say I'm a squealing yaoi fangirl, as I actually prefer boy x girl romance stories, but I do love to read yaoi manga and I occasionally dabble in the odd anime and the one thing that stands out in this is the ultra cute character design and heavenly animation quality. There's none of that awful cheap looking animation and not a single chizel-jawed butch bloke in sight *lol*
The storyline itself leaves a lot to be desired; it's too short (although I seem to remember there being an English manga being released soon, so maybe that elaborates a bit). I don't mind the subject matter, as I'm quite used to an enormous amount of yaoi that seems to centre around family members (brothers, cousins etc!). Anyway, for a yaoi OVA this is pretty good.

| Being a yaoi fangirl, of course i would say that it had value. Especially when it showed some of the sex scenes. Nothing graphic. Just kissing on the body or sucking the you-know-what, but of course it's covered with the hand. The story's kinda confusing for me to follow, especially since i only watched one episode when there are two. The characters were nice, and also HOT, but i didn't really find anything unique about them except their looks. Alot of the same traits you'd expect from characters. The main protaginast however...SUPER UKE. It was kinda annoying for me cause i like the seme better, but since this uke was cute, i forgive him. ^____^
The animation? One word: GORGEOUS. The colors are really smooth with no dark tones or light/faded coloring. THere were some messed up parts, but i've decided to overlook it since this is yaoi anime. And there is hardly enough series for a fangirl to go around. Meaning the animated version of course other that the manga. Which is also just as good.
