| Jumaru Plawres Sanshiro is one of the classics of the 80's and one of the best action animes of my childhood.
Initially I thought this title was more recent and I was surprised to find that it was made in the early 80's. The animation is very good with an amazing intro that you'd think belonged to more recent animes with aid of computers and CGI. The battles are outstanding though in terms of characters the design is simple but effective in conveying the characters emotions like only the animes of the 80's and 70's are able to manage
Now if you've seen Angelic Layer and thought that despite the action it was too girlish then Jumaru corrects that minor flaw and delivers one of the best duels between robot dolls I've seen, outperforming current crap like Beyblade, Pokemon and Yugioh.
The story never remains static. The robot doll is defeated some times, others it gets upgraded with better weapons and faces different opponent with various abilities in every episode. There's also character developement truly representative of the golden era of the 80's animes and conflicts between some characters, typical in such animes.
I've seen the dubbed version that had good quality, ensuring also funny moments and action. Unfortunately I havent seen all the episodes to judge the story but this is certainly one of those titles I'd want to rewatch to remember the worry-free days of my childhood.
A classic. If you've missed the title give it a try, especially if you liked Angelic Layer.
