A great, light-hearted, feel-good romance story with a climactic ending. The characters are cute and likeable, and the episodes seem to fly by when watching them. I found myself finishing all 12 episodes in one sitting.

I would definitely suggest this anime who are fans of the romance genre, and aren't looking for too much drama or frustration. This is probably one of the best romance animes out there.

Though at times it can move twice as slow as a ten-year itch, Lamune is not your typical harem dating-game anime. The relationship between the two main characters is already pretty much established and both happen to be decent leads. If you're not a fan of either the slice of life/romance genres, however, there's a strong possibility you won't like Lamune. The pacing of the first episode is what pervades throughout the entire series, so use that as your crutch to judge whether or not you should watch it.

The animation isn't all that outstanding. Pretty standard of this genre, so don't expect too much. Character designs are typical; a handful of pretty girls around a decent looking guy. Bright colors and verdant scenery are used liberally; again, what you'd expect from a dating-sim-turned-anime series. Not much else to mention here.

I've even less to say about the soundtrack. The opening and ending themes are alright, though both are readily forgotten. A handful of nice insert tracks are scattered throughout the series, but overall I didn't pay much attention to it. The version I picked up had poor sound quality and I had to have the volume turned up substantially just to hear the Seiyuu, so this might have contributed to that -- was hard to hear most of the time. On the topic of the Seiyuu, decent voice acting but nothing spectacular. I get the feeling this wasn't a high-budget production, but it's certainly designed well enough that these flaws don't really hurt the series.

The story, as I mentioned before, is already pretty set in stone. You've got two childhood friends who are pretty much a couple where everybody but themselves realize it. The pacing is incredibly slow and hops back and forth between present time and childhood flashbacks. A few "girl of the day" episodes are thrown in the middle, obviously to promote the game (why else would this be made?) but generally serve to further the relationship between Kenji and Nanami rather than create love triangles. There's virtually no originality here, though, as every episode is centered around a cliche. To this series' fortune, this doesn't really impact its enjoyability, as they present the cliches interestingly enough to keep your interest. Again, if you watch the first episode and don't like it, don't continue -- you'll be bored out of your mind.

The characters are definitely the highlight of the series. Kenji happens to be a decent male lead, and certainly is not one of your average harem retards; think Yuiichi from Kanon 2006 (*not* 2002) as far as character quality and style go, though he isn't given as much depth. Nanami is the typical, shy childhood friend and love interest. Despite being incredibly feminine, she's alright for a lead, and there's certainly enough chemistry between the two to make the relationship smooth. The other girls are just sort of there, contributing more toward the atmosphere than anything. Thankfully they are actually beneficial most of the time...instead of interfering during the serious moments, we often see Hikari dragging other people away.

All in all, an average slice-of-life/romance anime. Though it can drag a bit at times, it has an immensely laid back and casual feel and is definitely one those series you can use to unwind. A treat for those who like either genre, an eyesore for those who do not.

Recommended.

Lamune isn't a incredible anime. In fact I found it quite boring and I don't understand how I got through twelve episodes of it, but oh well. Lamune can be enjoyed still.

Animations are nice, nothing special, nothing bad. Background settings do get boring after a while. Character designs are nice, but all the girls look to similar in my opinion. Bright background and setting makes it feel like a summer anime.

Voice actors did a decent job. Even if Nanami's voice acting is annoying and a pain in the ears, but then again the rest of the girls are just as annoying. OP is decent, but the ending is impressive. Background music was fine, it didn't get annyoing, so that was good.

A boy named Ken remembers his childhood past with a whole bunch of girls. It's not really a harem since the anime mainly revolves around him and a girl named Namani. There's a nice plot twist at the end, but it's not really big one.

Characters are decent.

Ken - He's more manly then most male protaganists. He even has a manly voice.

Namani - Her voice can get annoying, but she's alright. A typical nice girl who will do anything for the main character.

The other characters are alright. None of them have good personalities. I didn't like them and I didn't hate them. So they were mediocre at best. Some of them are boring and dull though.

Watch this if you have a craving for some new love-romance, but if not then they're a whole bunch of other animes waiting for you. If you are going to watch this I would say watch the first three episodes and then watch the last three episodes, because everything in between is just BORING!

I'll go straight to the point, this anime isn't new, it isn't spectacular, but I still enjoyed this alot. Lamune is already on my top 5 favorites in the Harem genre, and believe me I watched alot.

I'd say this is about a middle-of-the-road anime. There's nothing spectacular about it, and it's not something that's very memorable either. The harem genre this is not, despite what it might say in the description. Overall I did not find much depth in this anime, though that is probalby what they were going for--a simple love story of some sorts. Unfortunately, I'm more of an action freak so this didn't really appeal to me, but read some of the other reviews to see if it is something you will enjoy. It is a short series after all, and as always you can't always trust other peoples' opinions before giving it a go yourself.

I absolutely adore this anime. Usually I don't review anime until I'm completed done with the series to better reflect the series as a whole, but since there's only one episode left to go I'd say my opinions closely reflect my thoughts on the entire animation.

If I were to select one word to describe this anime, it would be beautiful. Not the flashy, gorgeous kind of beautiful, but the serene, radiant kind of beautiful. The sound, the characters, the setting, all come together nicely to bring the mood of the animation to screen. THe story is very simple, and mainly revolves around the life of several characters in the more rural/town area of Japan. The main focus is on a boy and a girl who have known each other since they were little kids and share a very special bond as close friends as well as lovers.

There's almost next to no ecchi in this animation (which I really like, since I don't appreciate ecchi at all) so for those who find ecchi parts quite distracting will be happy to know that this series doesn't have any of that. Rather, the appeal is more on the way the relationships between the characters are developed - the reason I gave the characters an 8 was because I don't really think the characters THEMSELVES are all too special, but it's more the relationships between them that makes it great.

All in all, this series is quite simple, not many conflicts, and just takes you through snippets of the character's everyday lives. A nice feel good series for those who are interested in the romantic genre - without all the unnecessary ecchi.

A very refreshing 2005 anime in the flood of H-game adaptations of that year, this one I particularly enjoyed, because of the generous focus on characterization. The strength of this series was its focus on one girl thru the falling action of the story instead of trying to give every character some limelight, this translated into MUCH higher quality work at the end. Pure and simple romance story, with a bit comedy, a bit of drama, and a generous amount of slice-of-life put in. I wouldnt really say the school genre was paramount in it...

Overall, you gotta stick with this series to the end, at least until you get to episode 8 to the end, because IMO, thats when the series truly took off. If I hadnt been a fan of the game and of nearly every nekonekosoft work, I would have fallen off of this wagon, but Im so glad I didnt. Highly recommended for the romance-childhood-friend-pinky promise-fans (which nekonekosoft does so well ^^)

This is one of the surprising series over the winter for me. At first I thought it was like To Heart 2: a failed attempt at a harem-like series. But I was proven wrong after I stuck with the series and endured the early fillers. Once the character introductions are done in the first half, things start to pick up and form a nice little romance story. It caught me off guard but that's the element of surprise in what seems to be an innocent, light-hearted series. I would definitely recommend this for those who seek a light-hearted romance series and believe me, it has a sweet story once you hang in there.

Okay, so its not as good as I rated it, but to some degree, there wasn't anything I found wrong with lamune. It's definitely one of the least messed up love animes out there. It's so simple. Just a girl and a guy who like each other. There's one other girl who likes the guy,but the story doesn't go into the love triangle and make it all messed up. For once, there's no inner cat-fight drama jealousy crap that is in every anime, and especially prominent in harem animes. Animation is nice, but not great, and I wasn't too fond of the artwork because it was slightly unrealitic in depicting bodies. Sound was very nice. I especially liked the background music. I generally don't listen to opening songs, so I 'm not referring to that. There's a very pretty song in there that they play during emotional moments. Character was okay, but I didn't like nanami. The story I gave a 9 because I'm biased against slow moving animes. Sorry. It was quite slow, and there was one story arc I didn't understand entirely. However, the overal effect was good and it was extremely sweet. Honestly, I finish harem animes like shuffle more than pointless and a waste of time and I'm constantly searching for one anime that can portray a love story without having to dip into unrealistic story plots. To explain that, let's just put it this way: Us normal people do not fall in love in two seconds. We may lust after them simply because they are hot, but we will not develop emotional attachment to them in less than a month. In Lamune, they have had years to develop their relationship which is clearly there in the anime. The ending was nice too. I recommend this. Logically reasonable, and a poignant love story.

This is a pretty simple one that really requires almost no thought to watch. I've seen the first 7 and I've yet to see a real conflict or problem. Sometimes, for me at least, thats good though. I've seen so many romance/harem types where one of the girls gets sick, another loses her memory, get kidnapped etc... that sometimes simple is good. I think the best words to describe this one is "feel good". The characters are lovable, the scenery is gorgeous, and the relationships just give you a smile. I docked animation a couple of points because sometimes the characters faces are messed up, ex : in the op at the very end nanami smiles at kenji and I swear the first time I saw it I though she was retarded. Although I also must say that even though the faces sometimes look weird othertimes nanami looks adorable, like when she's pouting or angry. Another reviewer used the phrase "slice of life" and I think thats a good description too, the characters pretty much just go about their day and new characters get introduced, and every ep has some good flashbacks to them as children. All in all, if you are a fan of most harem/romance animes then I'm pretty sure you'll like this, it's just something to watch to put a smile on your face. Oh, by the way, this is NOT a harem type, as far as I can tell there are 2 girls that like the man character. Also, Nivvy if you happen to read this could you tell me where you got ahold of fansubs for past ep 7 ? C1 just released 7...unless you know japanese and are watching the raws...either way jakepwright@gmail.com give me a buzz

[minor update...how the heck is this harem? he's surrounded by girls sure, but they don't all like him]

*review after 9 episodes*

Not bad...considering where this is going, where it came from, and what genre this is, it's amazing that I didn't delete it after the first episode. On my own scale (for those that know me, it's -2 to 2), this is a -1--liking it for all the wrong reasons.

Ahem.

The scores are as follows:
Animation (7): Quite refreshing, I've been looking for something with that softer color, thick-line drawing style for a while.

Sounds (6): The only thing that saves face are the ending/opening songs which, although sung by nonamers, doesn't mean a thing. yozuca* had to get her start somewhere too. GL to mayu and Ayumi Murata. Otherwise, the seiyuu's voices for the kids are really annoying.

Story/Characters (7/5): This is coming from a generic background, but at least they're not trying hard to hide it. It reminds me of To Heart (the original), but they let it get mushy and they ran with it. Good for them, as this is what it should be like. Could have done a better job with the development of Sakura's character (those who don't understand will after a few more episodes).

Value/Enjoyment (5/7): Like I said, I'm watching this for the wrong reasons and I'll score appropriately.

[forgot to weight it against my last reviews, scores fixed]

Usually I hate harem. I hate them with a passion. So what made me rate a harem 8.8?

First off, this is not just harem; this is the rare AYA subgenre of harem. The guy is actually not a loser (*gasp*), and he actually knows who he wants (*omghellisfreezingover*). Second off, the romance between the two has enough sugar to give you cavities. Strangly enough, most harem anime just strikes me as dumb and boring, so actually being sweet is something nice.

I have to say however, that in some scenes they look somewhat unnatural. The animation/character design is generally very nice and cute though (hence the 10).

Of course, this is only based on the first 3 episodes that's out on fansubs. There are still plenty of ways in which it can go wrong. Though in any case this anime will be one that I'll look forward to seeing finished.

I've really been getting into this anime, and i've really grown attached to the 2 main characters, Nanami and Kenji. There is not much story to be had, but it does progress a bit along the lines of it. This will be a great anime to watch if you just want to relax and have a little laugh or 2 in a warm setting.

I love this series so far. I have seen up to episode 5, and this series hasn't had a single boring episode. Be warned, it has a very peaceful setting, and so far, there has been absolutely no story whatsoever. Now judging from the picture, you're thinking this is a harem. Well honestly, I don't know what it is. Nanami and Kenji are already pretty much 'husband and wife', so who knows when the climax will come.

Animation- The animation isn't really bad, it's got bright coloring and beautiful backgrounds. The problem is the character faces are deformed in many episodes and the animation is not consistent. Sometimes the faces are too slim with huge necks, or sometimes vise versa. Also, the character designs are so boring. Everyone is the same besides their hair color. But the colors are very bright and pretty. It really gives the anime a 'summer' feel.

Sound- Personally, I love the ending theme. I've already bought the single ^_^. The opening is a pretty average song, but really the lyrics are quite dumb. Who would make a song about the melody of lemonade? The voice acting isn't the greatest you'll hear. Child Kenji has the most loud, annoying voice you'll ever hear. And Nanami's voice is so whiny and childish, even as an adult.

Story- As stated before, there is no story. Each episode is just a typical day of Nanami and Kenji's life during summer, with other characters being introduced. Don't get me wrong, this show is very enjoyable to people who like slice of life anime.

Character- So far, none of the characters have any personality but Nanami and Kenji. All of the other people are the typical cliched personalities. There isn't really one character I actually like, which is very dissapointing because there are so many of them.

Anyway, overall Lamune is a very enjoyable show. It's cute, sometimes funny, and so far merely for enjoyment. It's completely realistic, no giant robots, no flying cats, none of that. Just a nice, peaceful series. I recomend it. :)

And child Kenji+child Nanami= OMEGA KAWAIII!!!!!!
